My name ain't specifically Firefly-related or anything, it's just my name. A long time ago, back on Earth-That-Was, there was a fella by the name of Alexander who had himself a good time conquerin' little folk and the like. Got himself a fair-sized empire in the core and then went ahead and did what all governments do. You can imagine this didn't sit so well with everyone else.

Another fella by the name of Demosthenes decided to round himself up a passel of Independence-minded folk to do something about it. Hell, they might even have called themselves Browntogas as far as I know. Anyway, the short end is that this independence movement worked out just about as well as the one on Hera did, and Demosthenes found out that having right on your side and standing up for yourself usually gets you left further out on the rim.

Even though he lost he was a good speaker, this fella, and losing didn't make him cotton to the central authority any better. So he took to callin' Alexander the "Monolycus of the North"... a monolycus bein' an old word nobody uses anymore which meant "a particularly rapacious wolf that travels alone." Now, I thought the word sounded shiny, but I never thought it suited Alexander or any other high Alliance folk since they never go anywhere without some serious backup behind 'em.

So I took it for myself. I'm not gonna speak to the rapacious part, but you do a lot of travellin' by yourself when you're out on the raggedy edge.

What a fine and shiny sight! We are headed for 21000 at warp speed. Which is appropriate, considering how warped many of us are...

Strawberries are in this big bowl here, nestled into bigger bowl of ice, looking so pretty. We're going to whip some of this cream and split some shortcakes, but if you don't want to wait for that, feel free to dip some berries in one of these special dishes. Cream cheese, chocolate, powdered coconut, whatever.

Big buffet standing by, and a Mudder's Milk fountain going.

(Keep on spreading the word, even if it means doing the bedsheet bit -- we're into bedsheets!)

Seems kinda rude not to take this shiny opportunity you folks have offered to jump right in and introduce my self.

I'm a UK Browncoat but only since the Serenity DVD came out here a few months ago - I'm sad to say Firefly had passed me by until then - obviously like everyone around here I'm now totally hooked and committed to doing whatever I can to ensure that we can all be around in this 'Verse, by whatever means Joss can conjure up for us in the future.

I signed up a few months ago, but have pretty much been lurking. I love this board and it seems that members are very friendly here.

Husband and I discovered Firefly/Serenity after the holidays. We watched the movie, felt like we were missing something. We found out about the series, so got the box set and watched it all in 3 days! Everything makes sense now, and I am all manner of obsessed with Firefly/Serenity! I really enjoy all of the wonderful fan fiction out there, so keep up the great writing everyone!

Gonna purchase the PSP version of Serenity on 6/23/06 - Serenity Day! Also gonna get the box set of Firefly for Father in Law for Father's Day - make him a convert!

I saw Serenity this weekend and liked it. I devoured the first Firefly dvd and I. Love. It.
I'm gunna savor the rest, one by one--like strawberries. (I'm forced to, considering I only get one at a time from Netflix. But I'd wager a guess that it won't be long before I own it)

ZOEROCKS, your introduction to the Serenity/FF verse sounds so very much like my own. I'm forever telling my wife if she has a question about anything "Look it up on the internet." I think she forgets we have a computer now.Well after watching Serenity and all the Firefly I could get,it wasn't enough. I thought theres bound to be something on the www. Don't know how appropriate it is for me to say so, what with having been newly coated my own self in this very thread (much obliged, FOLLOWMAL), but...

Well howdy there all, I been lurking for just a short spell round these parts, but I couldn't resist such a might shiny welcome, so I thought I'd make myself a bit known.

I'm a fairly new fan, only for a couple weeks or so, the right shinyness of firefly just seemed to pass me on by for some reason till now.

I hope to make it out to the charity screening of firefly here in the great desert of vegas, so maybe I'll get a chance to meet some of these fine folk in person.

Until then, I'll just sit a spell here with y'all, pull back some whiskey and wait a bit for my browncoat to arrive :)

Welcome aboard our creaky boat! You'll be needing your Browncoat (its virtual, but somehow better than the real thing!) and I know just the lady to supply it. Her name is FollowMal and she is the Captain's right-hand and has a storeroom right close by the cappy's quarters. I should know, I am her recently appointed Secretary/assistant/cleanup-crew -- actually, I'm RadarRese!

Help yourself to the abundant spread located over on the sideboard. FloralBunny is out on a supply run, but I'm sure she'll be back soon with a fresh supply of mostly all that you see there. *swipes a strawberry and pops it into her mouth*

We're a wacky bunch here, but most families are. Keep your head down, some sightings of Ships-Cat and llamas have cropped up. Poo, ya know!
