I'm keeping my fingers (and eyes) crossed, but I'm not holding my breath. Because cyanotic just isn't my color - and missing any second season because I suffocated would pretty much suck.

You would think if there really was going to be a season 2 that it would have probably leaked here first. I do think there is an excellent chance for a second season because if you see all the money Sci Fi channel is sinking into unproven projects why wouldnt you spend the dough on a proven show like firefly. I think its just a matter of time before boss joss breathes life back into serenifly.

oh, gorammit! YES! Yes, there will absolutely be a season 2 of Firefly for Whedon's sake!

... just a matter of when

There's been any number of rumours about a new season starting in the short time I've been here. Have yet to see any of them pan out into anything verifiable.

If (ruttin' hell, WHEN!) something definite happens, I doubt there'll be much need for us to go poking around. Joss gets our ship off the ground again, he's going to want to create as much publicity as possible.

Here's something to think about. The networks will be revealing their Fall lineups in a few weeks.

HHmmm, I wonder what will be on the new CW...or Sci-Fi?

Also, it was in February that we had the reports of Nathan, Summer, and Gina being spotted at the CW studios. Joss quickly and cryptically squashed these rumors...just like he poo-poo'd the BDM rumors a few months before it appeared in Variety.

*ahem* What about Battlestar Galactica? That certainly paid off for them, and it's wunnerful partly because our beloved Zoic did the special effects.

True true, there are undoubtably some great upsides to Sci-Fi channeling it's money into those (like you said, Battlestar Galactica is proof) but they could spend less on some of the ahem, less engaging films.

Actually the British Sky channels helped with that to get the first season funded

Eh, but everything ends with Serenity, so making another sequel to that movie would be... well wouldn't really make much sense. I mean, it wouldn't be the same without Wash and Shepherd ...
Season two could very much be what Firefly needs. If there's a season two, then it could follow the story that leads up to Serenity, or perhaps Serenity could be the "worst case scenario" and season two could show how Wash and Shepherd could have avoided their deaths, fought against the reavers, crippled the Alliance some,and then where hunted by them again, in season two!

What I'm saying is that Serenity could still make sense with a second Season.
Hell, just as long as there are more episodes.
