Does anyone know what the trademark status is on the Blue Sun logo? (probably fox I am presume) because I own a screen printing business, and if there is enough interest, I would love to pump out some shirts to bolster support for the series/film.....

PS- the DVD is truely a masterpiece.....

The Blue Sun logo was put up on the Fox website with the message, "Enjoy!" in fairly high resolution sometime last year. Over the summer, I had made about 80 shirts with the logo, which are in the hands of various browncoats here and there. The logo was single color single side printed in blue via silkscreen on a Hanes Beefy-T or equivalent shirt, in a light gray color.

I charged ten bucks a shirt, and we wound up raising about 100 bucks for the homeless vets of Santa Barbara county. I wear my Blue Sun shirt to the gym all the time, where beautiful women swoon and men throw me thinly disguised glares of envy.

Aren't the prospero boards the official ones? I've seen Nathan Fillion, Adam Baldwin and Mark Sheppard post there.

I say go for it.. anyone who wants to make shirts should do it.. there's little chance you'd actually start mass producing them (10's of thousands) and even so, i doubt any one at fox/mutant enemy would care.

on a side note... anyone ever going to make some black t-shirts with logos on them (firefly/bluesun/whatever) ???

some of us have pale skin and blond hair and wearing white does nothing for our complexion

i'd buy tons of black ones though. hail...

Well, these designs are mine ( http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=13&t=2042) and I don't really plan on doing anything with them as I have no real clue even where to start. But I am looking into it to weigh the pros and cons.

We can make the shirts for $8 each plus shipping- this would be on heavy weight 100% cotton short sleeve T's- colors- Tan, Brown, Black, Grey ect- of course we can do white also So now We need only 33 more dedicated fans...... :)

Alex157--any thoughts about doing a design other than Blue Sun? I have one of the Blue Sun t-shirts that Embassy made, and it's cool, but part of me doesn't really like wearing a logo that is associated with evil corporate stuff (even fictional evil corporate stuff). Plus I look crappy in pale blue.

I just bought an iron-on t-shirt from Cafe Press that has Firefly/Serenity on it; it's a nice design, but cheap quality. But it's nice to have the ship on the shirt. I'd love a silk-screen version, and maybe on the back, "You can't take the sky from me" or some such.

Thoughts? Or is everyone just dedicated to the Blue Sun approach?

I think the issue is more about copyright and trademark breaches than choice. Blue Sun logo seems to be free of encumbrances, as seems to be indicated on the original Fox TV site.
There was a point in the late fall in which ME prez Chris Buchanan volunteered it was considering some souvenir products. That will probably coincide with a Mutant Enemy web site.
But, I'll speculate that the Universal movie will delay some of these Firefly logo products.

I was trying to find some other logo/ ect to print myself- for variety and all- I really loved that show, so if anyone can find anything else to print, and there is interest, I will print that also- we have an 8 color press, so we can print close to photo quality stuff- like pictures of the serenity or the charactors, but would need to find out about copywrite for that - otherwise, if you can think of any other logo type stuff- I will look at the DVD's more closely- I would be glad to do them- someone on this site seems to have the serenity logo from somewhere on/in the ship- says "serenity" on top of chinese charactors which I assume say the same thing- I would like to get a graphic of that I could print......

I guess the folks at cafepress.com are flying below anyone's radar, copyright-wise, and probably just haven't been "caught" selling FF merchandise; we're less likely to be in that situation, if FOX is monitoring this site. (I can't imagine Joss caring if we print logo stuff, but I can imagine FOX being nasty greedy assholes--gee, I wonder why I feel that way?)

I like your idea of the logo on top of the chinese characters. I'd go for that!

I have 22 potential orders as of today, just to keep everyone posted..... Also- would anyone be interested in the ship logo if I can find it- it is the word "SERENITY" superimposed over the Chinese charactor for the same- let me know...

I'd love any firefly related merchandise... i guess my main question is could you itemize what you are offering? Example:

(whatever logo) in (list color) on (color of tee) for (X price)...

or is this pretty much whatever we want, we can have?

OK, now I have enough interest to run the blue sun logo shirts- it will be the blue sun logo, in (blue) on primarilly the Khaki shirts, but I have some folks that want White or Black shirts with the blue logo, so I will print them also - (the machine does not care what color shirts are being sent through) I have been keeping a list of everyone who has e-mailed me at alex0157b@yahoo.com, - anyone else, please let me know- we are planning to print next week....
