A new Browncoat

Hey everyone

I'm new to the Online Browncoat community and fairly new to the verse.

I first became a Whedonist when I saw my first episode of Buffy (Once More with Feeling)

Then I discovered Angel and heard about Firefly. However I thought there must be a reason it was cancelled. But then I saw a poster of the movie with my friend Laura who told me it was awesome and let me watch an episode.

That episode was Ariel and I fell in Love. The wonderful cast the great stories and I couldn't get enough I saw Serenity a total of 8 times in the theatre including twice on the 30th and I wanted more. After having a Firefly fest I realized I want more and so I became a Browncoat

Welcome, JohnTheTheatreFreak! We're glad you've joined us here for our mutual obsession. You'll definitely discover "more" here, including a lot of friendly folks who love to talk about "Firefly" and "Serenity" (and who wouldn't??).

We're always glad to have more Browncoats join the ranks! FollowMal should be along soon to issue you your own official coat and she'll be followed (or accompanied) by several others who will offer lots of good food and drink (and maybe llamas).

This is a good thing, as is your discovery of the 'Verse.

Yes, there was a reason FF was cancelled: Fox execs weren't into "arc" in Fall of '02.

Please come along to the galley, where you'll find big, yummy strawberries and all manner of other eatables and drinkables.

FollowMal will surely be around to fit you with a snappy new virtual browncoat.

Don't forget to spread the word about FF/S -- lend your DVDs, give them as prezzies, whatever...

My understanding is that you earn a llama (or two) just by being nice to others and generally one of the good guys, of which there are plenty on this site. FMF is the kind soul in charge of handing out (hmmm, now there's an image) the llamas.

On the subject of new Browncoats...
I showed my Dad the movie for the first time last night (I figured the BDM was prob the best way to suck him in, if not the most proper if you get me). So it finishes and I ask him what he thought.
"Oh yeah, it was good" Not really the rapturous reception I had hoped for...then a minute passes and he walks over to the corner, picks up the Firefly box set. "So there's some more of this stuff is there?"
We're watching Serenity part 1 soon!!

Thank you SaveWash, I thought it was a meaningless joke - you know, the llama's being handed out. I hope I didn't sound too greedy.

I will endeavor to earn a llama or two now that I am becoming accustomed to the ways of the 'verse.
