A) Popular, a regular Cordelia-type, tons of friends, not much more than fun on your mind.
B) Loner, unliked and ostracized- with thoughts of blowing the school up.
C) High IQ nerd, Trek or Star Wars obsessed, able to breeze through school without trying.
D) Take-charge type, could defend yourself in a fight, and talk your way into getting your way. Few, but important friends, very independent.
Myself, I started out as a B in Junior High, but switched to a combo of C/D in High School. Could not abide A types.
Any one else? I suspect many C types are here...
Chrisisall, workin on a thesis (uh-huh...)

Um I've always been a nerd. Not a terribly bringht nerd but a nerd none the less. Never could normal out enought to be popular or cool but at least they didn't make fun of me. Basically I was that wierd girl that's always singing and dancing. I did have lots of differnet groups of friends who had nothing in commen.

I was a combination of B and C. I've always liked to learn, so school hasn't been extrodinarily hard for me. What was hard was socializing. Even though I had friends, once I got to high school, I felt as if I couldn't relate to them. I also was diagnosed with clinical depression, which made it hard just to get up in the morning. As I got older (and changed schools), I did become somewhat more comfortable around people. Though truth be told, I still really don't talk that much, and I'm definitely not that outgoing. Oh well, I guess somethings never change.

I would have been a Type Z. None of your profiles fits.
I was out on the school porch smoking with the heads, on the playing field talking with the jocks, hanging out with my VERY high IQ girl friend, playing D&D with the nerds (long before it was cool to do so) and still got pretty good grades.
Basically, I was the bridge between all of the groups you've described above.

deepgirl187 I was a lot like you. Add that I was slightly overweight and had glasses and the high IQ nerd/geek loner picture was complete. Graduated #10 in my class of almost 300 without studying very hard.
I didn't begin to blossom until way after high school. College, 4 years in the military, a child with learning disabilites, a very nasty divorce and finally coming to recoginize my own predispostion to depression has all made me a better person believe it or not.

Closest to B, and I suppose I could entertain ideals of being D, but I doubt anyone else would describe me as such.
I once sawed my arm to the bone in shop class because a girl was talking to me. I did it without flinching, and she didn't even notice until my blood was spilling on the floor. That was my idea of trying to get someone to stop talking to me.
Headbutting lockers was a favorite passtime, as well as throwing myself down flights of stairs.
I couldn't fight with a spit, but no one ever took the time to find that out. People were generally nice to me, but only in a "he's mentally challenged" type of way.

I guess C would be closest, but really was actually a band geek (though I have always enjoyed a good bit of SciFi!) School was no prob, .... Until I learned how to be a slacker! (can we say 'how to slack'?) It was the homework and the actual "attending" that got me!! ^_^ so didnt get as good of grades as I could have... Plus the fact that I bugged out for my senior year and went overseas as an exchange student ^_^ (ahh what fun!) College has been a lot shinier anyway, even though discipline still isn't my strong suit :-p

Even though this is very much inviting comments concerning another thread in a different forum, I'll recount this story anyways, just to better fit the image you're forming of me.
I also got arrested from 10th grade English class for assault and posession of a deadly weapon. Handcuffs, county officer, holding cell, the whole shibang. Spent the rest of my high school years at a private school for trouble makers. Not anywhere near as bad as it sounds, though, the other kids there made me look like a golden child and I essentially cruised through respected by staff and student alike.

I was a strange combination of just about all of them.
I was a mostly A student.
Had lots of "friends" but only a very few close confidents.
I was in choir/theatre,played a sport, was a cheerleader and did student counsel.
I was a TOTAL geek and loved D&D and SciFi/Fantasy.
I hung out with jocks, stoners and geeks (not so much the "beautiful" crowd).
But it was the geeks who had my devotion and still do!

i forgot the question... but actually i can trace my humble beginnings as a anarchist back to jr hi or the 3rd grade really (during a heated game of red rover i called for everybody to come over, thereby creating my rebel persona)... by high school i was blacklisted by every teacher on campus and had to work a little harder than most to maintain my C average... maybe due to the fact that i was constantly distributing pro-castro and communist literature whenever possible... my nickname throughout that miserable time in my life was Red Rover....and i wore it with pride...

Me, I was a mix.
-Not good enough grades to be an IQ student, I got B, B+s without ever doing any homework or studying (except english class).
-Not a tech, never liked "computer science" I hated having to write the programs down.
-Not quite a jock but was atheltic, Track and field and swim team, wanted by the football coach for my speed but never had the time (which I will always regret)
-Band member.
-never quite a D&D guy, apparently I didn't take it seriously enough.
-never made any enemies though.
-funny thing. I ran into a bully that picked on me on the school bus. I am a good foot taller than he is now and at least twenty pounds heavier (muscle, not fat) He looked nervous for a change. (I will remember that to the end of my days)
-went through High school as the a typical 90 pound skinny guy. Working out with the University football team changed that in a hurry.
-generally a happy go lucky guy. Still am.
-went to my high school reunion, with a bit a trepidation, and was hit on by the "popular" girl. My wife got a chuckle out of that.

I'm kind of a combo of C/D, with a splash of something else.
Super smart, graduated 2 in class of 406 without really trying. Got bored applying to college so I ended up at a state school, oddly enough with an essay all about this perfect appearing girl who was actually an alcoholic crackwhore. Liked star wars, but wouldn't say obsessed. X-files was my obsession. I was involved in some clubs and played softball for the city league, but my friends and I mostly sequestered ourselves in the music/theatre department and voluntarily avoided interacting with anyone else. Worked a lot, played a lot of violin in the city youth symphony and at school, developmed my obsession with travel.
Graduated and the next morning I was on a flight to AK to work for the summer. Been back to visit for a total of less than 6 months in the 4 years since I left.
Can't wait for the 10 or 15 year reunion. My friend's mom is a total gossipy bitch (I almost hope I run into her in the next few days so I can have words). I can't wait to prove her wrong and shatter her illusions about the world. And laugh at certain people.
Vindictive? Me? Nah . . .

Prolly D…
Tried to bridge all the cliques… was mostly referred to as weird and funny. Had spurts of popularity. Played football and wrestled… got in a couple of fights but made friends with both later. My obsession was x-men. Was in a club called DECA where I was able to travel to competitions across the country which opned my eyes.
Got mostly A/B+s until senior year where I skipped school a lot cause I thought I was cool.
Wasn’t worth it. I missed some scholarships. And knowing is half the battle.

Definitely started out as:
C) High IQ nerd, Trek or Star Wars obsessed, able to breeze through school without trying.
But then I realised I didn't need to try, got very bored, developed a deep hatred of all type A people (mostly out of fear, I admit... frequently picked on). So, yeah, by age 13...

Quite a variety of types in here. Who knew we weren't all nerds in high school?
Me, I was more of a geek than a nerd. I was a B average student. (Never really got the hang of that whole homework thing, even in college. :) I took orchestra all through Jr. High/ High School, and I was pretty much the wierd artsy guy in school. I found out early on that I could get attention from doodling in class, so I'd draw portraits of people and the like.
I was never all that outgoing back then (still not, come to think of it,) but I knew enough people in the various cliques that I didn't get picked on too much.
Most of what I remember is being absolutely obsessed with a girl in my grade and being too bashful and awkward to ask her out until the last week of my senior year. (And go figure she'd land a boyfriend two days before I poured my heart out to her :)

but still, im an odd one. i am friends with most people (am president of sixth form (woot!)) but i have about 10 very close friends who are i suppose the "alternative people" mainly.
in the last few months though i have been becoming increasingly geeky! i blame my boyfriend. he introduced me to star wars. then i started playing magic: the gathering (!!) with some guys at school. but apart from that (and i suppose unheathly obsession with webcomics and firefly) i'm not a geek and pretty "popular" (if i'm allowed to say that)
...can that be option e or something?

I was mostly C. But it was pre-Star Wars and pre-PCs and pre-cable, so while I watched Star Trek the first time around, if there were any Trekkies out there they were still in their parents' basements. *shrug*
I was a reader and non-studier who started hanging out with the freaks halfway thru HS. At that time, there were freaks, nerds, and greasers. Geeks wasn't coined until after I left HS.
But as a side note - the HS that Freaks and Geeks was based on? 6 miles and 5 years from mine.
And literally nothing had changed.

Another Z-type here, only female this time.
Hung with the druggies in school but not out of school and was too smart to do drugs myself, played first chair violin so hung with the music geeks, was unathletic so did not speak the same language as the jocks. Did not care much about the social scene in high school as I was living for getting out of there and going to college. I'm glad for that; I find it really sad when the high point of someone's life is high school and everything is downhill from there! Oh dear.

I never studied....and still usually got the highest score in the class. I didn't even study for my AP bio test and I still got a 5. And because I was so obviously smart, the other kids at school didn't like me (well, that and the fact that I'm socially retarded).
Blowing up the school actually did cross my mind.....but only because it was falling down around us anyway and it would have given them a reason to build a new one.

Yes an "M" for me - I was a brilliant drama and literature student (in my mind, at least) and had a small group of hillarious, intelligent and very loyal friends! We made animal noises in class and drove our teachers mad, but I really just found the work so boring that I didn't even try hard and mostly just passed subjects I should have been straight A in (again possibly in my mind...) We weren't intimidated by the goths, the 'wogs' (their term, not mine - and that meant Greek or Italian) the high IQ students who were straight A, the popular Miss Cordelia types who knew they couldn't impress us so sometimes they just let us be themselves with them just being themselves. I came from a very multi-cultural area - Melbourne...aaah! Loved it all and hated it all .... you could call it a 'love/hate relationship' I guess.... hmmmmm... that's too deep - think I'll go to bed in case I start making sense again !!

I was sort of a D in that I had only a few close friends in HS. Mostly because several years earlier, I had developed all my friendships at a different school, and because of where I lived I was still friends with those people.
More than anything I was the common guy between the two schools that particularly did not like each other. Guess I was the diplomat that kept things in step at baseball and basketball games.

Probably closest to A. Perhaps C in that I have always had good grades and often enjoy fantasy/sci-fi type things. Mostly in my school being intelligent wasn't a barrier to popularity. Like others have said I moved quite easily between groups - I had close friends who were A, B and C types (not so sure about D). To be honest I think my school was probably quite different from the average high school, firstly because I live in the UK the last two years of school (Sixth form) are optional, so most people there are quite bright. Secondly because my school had large number of people from well off backgrounds. Also many of us came from different schools (in sixth form you often change schools) which meant there were lots of connections between different friendship groups. The result was basically that although there were different cliques of people there were loosely defined and fluid.
I hope that's not just boring :)

Hmmm...how 'bout catigory "U" for Unpopular. I had a few friends (and lots of pen pals) but for the most part high school was a terrible experience and I'm glad it's over. That aside, there were some bright spots:
-Junior Classical League (nationwide Latin & Greek club...anyone here alumni?)
-Debate team
-Community theatre company (did everything from a little acting to building and tearing down sets, box office sales, ushering, selling refreshments at intermission...anything that meant I could be involved)
-Frequent road trips in my 1983 Nissan Pulsar NX (with sun roof and flip up headlights...though I was driving it in 1991
)
-Mock Trial team (we even got to state once!)
So I was a hippie classics debate sci-fi wierdo.
Now, I'm proud of my geekdom.
And even prouder to be a Browncoat!

Junior high:
Mostly a clown, with one good friend, although everybody knows me, although I've been prone to fits of depression and brooding. Prodigy, on good terms with everybody, sort of athletic, hung out with only that one friend.
High school's going to be the same, I think.
Although there is about 50-65 people in my entire school, K-9, so moving to a city will be an adjustment.

B/C/D combonation. The ostracisim started in elementary school and never really went away, though not as bad in high school. Less open at least. Still wanted to maim them horribly. Hated my school and ploted destroying the place.
I only ever had a few real friends at a time but was willing to be friendly with anyone that was friendly back. No self-esteem in 9th grade but eventually got to the point of fu** you, I'l do my own thing. Hated social gatherings. Spent most of my spare time by myself.
Made select choir a year early and got A's in every art class I took so pretty artsy. My obsession was less any Sci/Fi thing than Fantasy. Especially fantasy books. Huge reader, still am, anything and everything with fantasy on top of my list. Still love most classic sci/fi though.
Problems with depression (really hit me hard my junior year of high school) and lazyness. I always aced tests without studying but never did homework. Who's heard this speech from a teacher? "We know you can do so much better. You have so much potential..." They all liked me though, cause I participated in calss and had real, intelligent discussions on nearly any given topic.
This should illustrate some of the situation.
I once presented a "bill" to my government class (we were doing a mock Congress thing) on legalizing prostitution just to get a rise out of them all. They were mostly ignorant, Mighigan redneck, uber-christians that sent horrible threats to wiccan friend of mine. They collectivly voted to legalize pot and lower the drinking age but voted against mine just because "it's wrong"
I have no plans to ever go to a high school reunion.

I was a sci-fi/fantasy geek from the time I first saw the original Star Trek reruns in my childhood. Then Star Wars came along and fully cemented sci-fi as my favorited genre. These things added to my being overweight and wearing glasses did not make me a popular boy.
I played D&D and was able to maintain an A/B average without even trying. There were two guys I went to school with who were troublemakers but I got in good with them by helping them pass a few classes. This insured that few people would mess with me. Unfortunately one of them got sent to drug rehab and the other was expelled for nearly beating some kid to death. There went my protection. Yeah, it's selfish of me but I never felt much empathy for my classmates and I assure you no one else ever helped me out.
Moved to a new state just before the start of junior year which ended up to be a blessing in disguise. I really embraced the fuck everyone else attitude, dropping F-bombs like I was getting paid for it and generally not giving damn what people thought about me. The weird thing is that for some reason people responded in a positve way. I ended up having friends who were sci-fi nerds, athletes, business wannabes(guys who wore suits to school!), and some bonafide geniuses. Go figure.
I still have no interest in going to any reunion and have not been in contact with any of my former classmates.

My freshmen year of high school I was kind of an A/C combo, minus the Cordelia-ness and the Star Trek obsession (though there were and are other geekier obsessions, which I shan't discuss here). The school I attended that year was tiny, barely hundred students, so I had a lot of friends my age and older. That was also the year that most of my friends were in bands so there where a lot of shows to hang out at.
Sophmore year I became a B/C type mostly because I moved to a new area and shortly before moving by dad passed away, so I sort of retreated into myself. I spent the last three years of high school just studying and hanging out with a core group consisting of about 5 other people. Towards the end of high school my group of friends kind of imploded mainly due to my toxic former best friend. I sure everyone has had that relationship that started out good, but eventually went horribly, horribly wrong, right? Well if this person has been my boyfriend, the relationship would have bordered on abusive.
So now here it is, almost exactly a year since my high school graduation and I guess I would call myself a D type. I've got a pretty good group of friends (many whom which I went to high school with, but never really hung out with) and I'd consider myself independent what with the college life and a spanking new job

Not that it matters anymore what we were back then, but i was a dork..a dork everyone knew...and made fun of...i was not a geek back then, and i couldn't be called a nerd because though i took the nerdy classes with all my trekkie friends, I didn't study...ever.
So count me as a dork...band, latin, french, student council...the list goes on...but who cares? I'm cool now.

I'm a B/C/D mix. Definitely down with the smart part, liked sci-fi, but just to read and watch on little or big screen, not fannish. I was a BIG band geek. At my high school, it was actually kind of cool to be a smart band geek, because our band was really good, and, it being the armpit of the midwest, getting into a far away college was viewed as a good thing.
But, as far as me personally, I was so not cool! I tried, did activities galore: all the various little bands, the school musical, soccer, even a little stint with pompoms (shudder) but I didn't bond with the locals, except a few friends. I guess, all in all, I was pretty invisible.
The summer before my senior year I met some people I really liked. People not from my school. So then I bailed on all my activities to could hang out with the funner people. I hated my senior year - I was counting the days until I got out. And life has been so much better since - high school was just so lame!!
Good thread Chrisisall. It's fun to revisit - I haven't thought about high school in years! Seems like it all happened to a different person.

Mal4prez, My school was the same. Band wasn't a bad thing. Ours was quite good too.
Was a Star Wars fan and original Battlestar Galactica fan but not a trekkie, so I got most of my sci-fi input via books. Stephen R Donaldson was my favorite in high school.
Kinda ages me... sigh.

It's hard to fit into one category - I was a rebel in high school, obsessed with going to punk shows on school nights and averting athority whenever possible. I was still popular though, because I was extroverted and a class clown. Eventually left high school my junior year because I couldn't take any more - went to junior college the next year and never looked back. Now I have a degree and a white collar job and couldn't think of my high school days any less if I tried.

I was A,B, and D. I cheered and did all the popular stuff but I also liked being alone with my thoughts and pondering stuff with different people. Being popular was fun but its sooo fake, people either feared you or kissed your ass.
I liked hanging out with the goth,sci-fi,nerdy,rock band people. they were very accepting and always had something interesting to say. Out of all my friends from high school they are the only ones I still talk to. Well, except my best friend who was "The Hot Chick/Prom Queen" in school, we still talk like we live next door, even though we are about 3,000 miles away.
High School was good times but I dont think I'd relive any of it again.

I was the typical B and C student in school. Hung out in a small group of friends which still keep in touch to this day. All of us where in the NJROTC unit for 4 yrs and on the Rifleteam. Now most people think of rifleteam as spinning and throwing the dummy fake ones but we shot 22 cal pellet rifles competitively in school. We're ranked number 1 in the state of WA from 1994 - 1998. We did our own things. We didn't do the traditional HS things. Football games on friday nights, homecomings, proms none of that stuff. We had more interest in 4-wheelin, drinking beer (when we could get it), watching movies and playing video games.

A total mix. I thought I was a geek but I was too much of misfit and too lazy to be in the honor-roll crowd and only attempted sports for a year (HS coaches are freaky). Years after HS I met a girl at party, several cities away who blurted out "hey you went to my school, you were that smart stoner." I guess if there have to be labels for those years I'd rather have "smart-stoner" over the image I had of myself at the time.

I was equal parts B and C.
I absolutely hated school, I never fit in at all. My group of friends were kind of semi-popular, but I was always on the outside looking in. The 'popular' crowd would always find something to pick on me and my best friend about.
Also, being asexual meant that while other girls became interested in boys I was still more interested in the next series of Buffy, which meant being labelled 'frigid'. I've also always been mature for my age, so I used to read books that most of them hadn't heard of yet so I was a 'swot'.
Basically, the whole school experience turned me into a nervous wreck with social anxiety, which still effects me now three years out of school.

D, of the choices you list. I went to a very small high school (our graduating class had something like 30 students) and I got along with people tolerably well, I just didn't like very many of them. I think because it was such a small group it wasn't as clinically divided along clique lines.
In college I retained that same...aloofness...one might say, but developed the ability to mask it. I actually dabbled at being an A (or rather, befriending people I didn't actually think much of) for a few semesters, only to find it exhausting. I then reverted back to a D and find myself still quite content.
I'm very smart.

C all the way. Honour Roll, straigh As, top of the curve --all of which sounds impressive until you realize that 99% of my high school was completely and utterly stupid. Like "make Jayne look like a criminal mastermind" stupid.
I was kinda the "stealth rebel" --I quickly learned that being an Honour Roll student means the teachers will let you get away with anything. Skipping, lateness, accusations of vandalism (though, to be fair, I didn't start the fire, I just happened to be nearby when the Principal arrived), disrespectfulness, fights, sneaking off mid-class to the darkroom with a cute brunette (who also happened to be an honour student). . .
Uh, where was I?
There were a few shining lights, two of whom ended up being fairly close friends, and one of whom became my first love, though I haven't seen any of them for years.
Hung out in the Art room a lot, with a handful of other geeks and loners (who weren't necessarily any smarter than everyone else, they were just wierder). I wouldn't call myself popular, but looking back, I realize that a lot of people knew me by name.

A very strong D, with the IQ of C (but not into Star Trek and while I like Star Wars was never obsessed), and the loner element of B at times without the desire to blow up things (for the most part).

Huh. I thought I'd replied to this earlier.
B & C mostly.
Was in the advanced classes & got A's & B's. Had a few friends, but there were folks who went out of their way to make my school life hell. Never thought of killin' 'em though. I just wanted the gorram hell out of there.
Like a few other folks, it'll have to be a glacier in Hell before I'll go to a reunion. Anyone I liked, I've kept in touch with; got no interest in the rest.

Well considering i am in high school now, i wanted to delurk for a change and answer. At this point i'm a sophomore and i haven't changed much since 8th grade. I would say i'm a mix...
I mean i'm definately not the smartest person in my class. I have high IQ but i struggle with my honors classes right now. I'm pretty athletic I.E. waterpolo and swim. And I play the violin. I guess you could describe me as a geek/jock. But what would that make me? A Gock? A Jeek? Hmm.
I'd definately say i was a tomboy. I mean i love video games and i like guy things. And i get obsessed with things very easily. Never anything like Firefly though. *sigh* All started with those darn pokemon! I always had a fairly large amount of friends after my wussy elementary school days. I can take care of myself now but i was definatelly bullied in elementary school. (i'm sad to say...) But i guess i've toughened up now. No way anybody's gonna mess around with me anymore.
So i guess i'll end this increasingly large response and ask you guys what you think i am. A, B, C, D, or none of the above?
