I am just curious of how many people plan on buying the DVD on the 23rd of June. If so and they already have a copy, what do they plan on doing with the extra or extras? I am thinking about getting 1 and giving it to the local library. But the branch nearest me is really small. There really isn't much I can do to celebrate the day.

Note: Now, I am not saying that this is the only way to celebrate Serenity Day or anything like that. Let's please not go down that road again.

Also, on Amazon, why is the full screen version of Serenity $2.00 more than the widescreen? For some reason I always figured it went the other way around.

I bought one at Walmart when it first came out. I was just thrilled that they had it. Then, I discovered it was a full screen version (I wanted wide screen). So, I bought another and gave the first to a friend. I have since misplaced my widescreen version. I have both the BDM and BDS on VHS. I plan to order both from Amazon on DVD on 6/23

I'll have little cash on my person after the purchase of my pinball machine to be converted, but I still plan to buy at least one disk and give it to someone I feel is a potential convert. He likes Cowboy Bebop, and while I've never seen that cartoon, many here have said Firefly and it are similar. I've already found a friend who is an expert (comparitively) on pinball repair and LOVES Firefly! I've told him to visit this site, so he might do the same as me.

Already bought both the BDM and BDS and on it's way to Iraq. It's going in care of a Browncoat Navy Corpsman that put out a call for some SciFi for a little library he's establishing for some Marines. Hopefully it'll make a few converts.

I'll see if I have enough $ left to replace my lend out copy of the BDM on the 23rd. It went out and hasn't been returned-hope it's doing some good circulating. I just get too nervous not having a 2nd copy to stay in the house when I lend it out. If my lend out copy returns the new one will go to the library.

Already have 1 copy, but dunno what I'll do w/ he 2nd. Might keep one 'to loan' , much like I have w/ the Firefly set.

Gonna try to walk in a couple of places and purchas it. But I won't be going on some holy quest. If it comes down to it, I'll order it online, which means it'll be a week or more before I get the copy. But I'll have 'purchased' it on the 23rd.

I set myself a budget of about 120 Euros ($US 150), and will see what I can get for that.
I'm probably gonna sent money to a fellow Browncoat in the US so they can purchase it from amazon.com (too expensive and not very efficient if I order it from amazon.com, what with taxes and toll fee and postage to Germany) and distribute it.
I'll also get a few copies of the German DVD and the German Limited Edition from various sources (amazon.de and local stores) to give to friends, local libraries, and cute chicks.
Just for giggles, I might order the HD-DVD and stare at it in awe or something, but I think I'll rather give that money to Equality Now. I'm gonna donate 50 bucks to them via the link on www.cantstoptheserenity.com (including whatever's left from the DVD budget.) either way.

You know, people have complained that this will only show that a few fans are way to crazed about the show. I disagree. This will show that those few fans have WAY too much money on their hands. And that's what they want.

That's probably true - look at how much cash that hard-core Star Wars and Star Trek fans throw down. But I don't think of fans as "crazed" - my uncle blows all of his money on cars that he rebuilds and races to a consistent loss of profit. Why? He enjoys it. Is he any crazier than someone who likes a series? Or sports fans? And I hate to see Browncoats knocking Browncoats as we're "all on the same side" since we love the show and movie.

Seeing how the DVDs are being used as donations (and charity is always a good thing) and spread around which will, in turn, bring in new people, it's not crazy (it's future generated revenue) - if we were hoarding those DVDs in our houses and letting them gather dust - that's crazy.

Or buying them so we could run them over with steam rollers the way they did with Beetles merchandise back in the day . . .that's crazy. I never really got that - spending money that goes to the comapny to destroy it's merchandise . . .ah well. The nuances of such a protest are lost on a prole like me, I suppose.

Afterwards, when I received the copies, I'm gonna go shoot two random people in the knee caps with a shotgun, and then give them the series and BDM to apologize. I'm sure that after watching them, both people will be entirely too happy and grateful to call the police.

SO i am going to give them to my mother. I have been talking her ear off about the show since I started watching it. Works out perfectly that June 23rd is my first payday with the new job! So to celebrate I'm buying both the BDM and BDS (already have a copy of each) but my copy of the BDM is full screen (Target was all out of widescreen when I went) and having a second copy of the BDS will be helpful in the lending it out process (right now I can't bear to part with it).

I note that ezydvd in Australia have restocked their Serenity - Collector's Tin (2 disc) edition and that it's on sale for AU$25 which is approximately US$19.

Unfortunately you need to have a Region 2, Region 4 or multi-zone DVD player and it's in the PAL format. If you're interested check it out at www.ezydvd.com.au

It's really worth having for the additional extras especially the "Filmmaker's Journey" doco (a must have if you are a Joss, Summer or Nathan fan), and the Q&A session held in Sydney.

One set I loan out, one set I for my brother as a gift, and today's set because the set I loan out takes so long to come back...and I want to help spike sales so that someone that is burdened with an over abundance of schoolin' will see the sales figures and finally realize that it's time to bring back Firefly to television.

Today is the 23rd, so I just bought 2 copies of the BDS and 3 copies of the BDM through the link to Amazon on the homepage here. The prices on both are great today, so I wonder if someone in the Powers-That-Be office is a Browncoat! I already own both and have already given a couple of copies of the BDS away (what better Mothers' Day present could there be?) so 2 copies of the movie will go to people who have already gotten the series from me, one copy of the series will stay here as a second lending copy (I have 3 friends who have asked to borrow it and I'm missing disk 1 of my original set and may be for a while longer) and one copy of the series + movie will go to a friend who shall remain nameless who pirated at least part of the series and needs to become an honest citizen of the 'verse. After much non- cooperation from Amazon.. which finally got ironed out.. I bought...

3 copies of the BDM

2 will go to local libraries
1 copy mailed directly to Whedonverse.org.

Then
1 copy purchased from a local merchant.. hands on buying.. lol
1 copy purchased from Universal.. so they will see me buy it. Right now.

These I will loan or gift.

One copy of the BDSeries bought thru Amazon too, but it wouldn't let me buy more than 1 at a time, so I will order 2 more tomorrow.

Then I went and donated to Equality Now with the code for Kurya's screening in Montreal... cuz he's kept me in the loop for their screening and I appreciated it. And I was very proud of them.

I'll donate yet again tonight with FFF.net in the company slot.. nod to Agatsu for that shiny suggestion.

Then I donated to our shiny home here... thank you Haken!

I ordered 5 wide-screen versions of Serenity and had them sent to the Whedonesque Project who will distribute them to libraries and the such.
I also bought one Firefly box at a local store to give away and donated 50 bucks to Equality Now through www.cantstoptheserenity.com.
I wanted to do more, but some real life stuff got in the way. Ah well, I got lots of time to save some money for the 'Versary, where we're REALLY gonna kick ass.

First thing this morning I ordered the HD-DVD from Amazon and the Serenity EXCLUSIVE Collector's Tin 2 disc set from ezydvd.com.au. I don't care that the second isn't compatible with my player I just want it for the tin.
