I watched the pilot last night expecting the quality of picture that I got with Lois And Clark (another Warner release), which was good, but somewhat soft-looking, especially in the FX shots.
But to my surprise, it was very, very shiny! Not quite as good as Dark Angel, but much better than Lois And Clark. About equal to Buffy in most respects, but with less colour saturation (But then, Brisco was going for that washed-out old west look...).
The booklet has synopsis' of the eps WRITTEN BY BRUCE!

Keep checkin' the mailbox guys, this was worth the wait.

My question...how can there be 8 discs worth of episodes. It's only one season, right? And the eps are half hour or hour?

Today I am all sadness. I finished Brisco as well as all the special features yesterday and all I can say is 'I want more.'

The only shiny spot is the discovery of Bruce Campbell. I loved Kelly Rutherford's comments in the Special features about him. How do you not fall in love with him? Now I've got to see Evil Dead, Army of Darkness, etc (although you will NOT get me near Xena).

Army of Darkness is hysterical. Check anything Sam Raimi has done, chances are Bruce will be in it somewhere (even if he's just a "Shemp").

Bruce played The King Of Thieves, and if memory serves, did about 2 guest shots per season, per series. Maybe a total of 6 or 7 eps all together.
The standout ep is in Hercules, when he stole a mystical stone that altered time, and allowed Bruce to play The King Of Thieves in the present, plus one from the past at the same time.
Hi-larious.

yes he also directed 12 of the first 24 episodes of Hercules...he used this fabulous sales pitch to the executive producers ( his best friends Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi) .."oh come on how bad could I be?"

EDIT_ Bubba Ho-tep is really good. Proves Bruce really acts well when he feels like it. It isn't typical Bruce Campbell fare so just remember that and don't expect his usually silly exhuberance

OMG- did you hear Bruce is making a sequel to Bubba Ho-tep it's called Bubba Nosferatu ( I love that man)

Exerpt from book
To make up for the loss of George( pet rabbit) we got another rabbit, an albino named Weaser. After I got through with him, he wished a dog HAD eaten him. Unwittingly, during his otherwise happy years with us, I slammed his head in the garage door and ran over him with my bike.

New Exerpt- My plan, while Karen watched from below, was to leap from one branch to another, not unlike that guy in the loincloth. I may have even yodeled as I reached out for the targeted branch, but it was all over before it began. The branch I grabbed had been dead for years and broke off clean. The momentum swung my legs in front of me and I ended up in a muddy bog, flat on my back, branch still in hand. The air had been completely knocked out of my lungs and all I could do was lay there and gasp.
"Oh my God, Bruce are you all right? " Karen asked with genuine concern.
"Oh yeah=cough=it was all=cough=part of my=cough=plan..."
Overwhelmed with humility, I jumped on my huffy bike and sped away as fast as I could.

and one more great exerpt-

(During the filming of Evil Dead)
The scene was to progress like this:
Betsy approaches, I swing, the beam cracks over her head and she spits out a milky bile. Hoping to avoid putting the cumbersome white contact lenses in, we applied make-up to her eyelids instead. As long as she kept her eyes closed, you wouldn’t notice the fakery in the middle of a scuffle. Therefore Betsy had no way of knowing what was going to hit her or how hard.
For her close-up , Sam and I lined up on both sides of the camera with beams to get the maximum number of hits without stopping to reset. Upon “action” I would swing my portion of the “ beam” and hit her over her head. Sam would follow this with a blistering SMACK that would send Betsy into a rage. Sam would apologize, set up for another take, and do the exact same thing again. Here’s what you got:
Sam: Action
Bruce’s hit: Whack!
Sam’s hit: CRACK!!
Betsy: “Goddammit Sam!”
After the third cranium rattling blow, Betsy defiantly spewed milk in every direction, mostly into the camera lense. This in turn pissed off the camera man Tim Philo- so went a typical night

New Exerpt

( Dave Goodman has made a vat of chili to feed everyone after the shoot)
Dave: Everybody comes home and they eat and I've got bread and cheese and sour cream and it's like a real meal and everybody's hungry and they start eating like animals
Bruce: That's when the trouble began
Dave: I went to bed and then I came up the next morning ( they were shooting at night) and I saw Sam . He was asleep with his head on the table. You were undernetah
Bruce: I was underneath the table
Dave: You were snoring and Rob was passed out in his chaor
Bruce: No one was able to move after that meal
Dave: I woke up and Sam turned to me and he goes " You drugged me and violated me didn't you?"

Other exerpt
Life at the house become surreal. Tom Sullivan slept in the laundry room. Apparently he was fine with the idea of nesting among weeks of unwashed crew clothing. Eventually, a horrid stench began to emanate from the room. We secretly discussed Tom's hygiene, but someone had seen him take a shower a few weeks before, so it couldn't be him...could it?
After Tom returned to Michigan, we discovered the source of the smell: rotting chicken bones that he had used for several goulish props

Goin slow, just saw Bye Bly last night.
Man I love this show so much .
Might put off the last ep indefinitly and just loop to the first one just to make believe it wasn't cancelled....

I keep interspersing Buffy and FF and Dark Angel in there with Brisco, kinda extends them all out, if you take my meaning.

Got a cat named Comet now Chrisisall

That really funny I got to Bye Bly and haven't had the heart to go any further. I just keep watching the first few discs. Why did they have to cancelle Brisco?!?

'Cause it was almost as good as Firefly was gonna be, I guess.

Same ole story, badly marketed. If I hadn't just seen Army Of Darkness, I fear I might have missed it too...*thinks*
No, actually the TV Guide ads were pretty good come to think of it....

I guess in the end, the public just didn't 'get' it.

Actually, surprisingly enough Brisco got a big promo push from FOX. It came out the same season X-Files did and FOX thought that Brisco was going to be their big hit for the season and put a lot of promo around it. I guess most viewers just weren't cool enough to 'get' Brisco. Actually as I remember it Brisco got fairly good ratings but FOX said the viewership didn't quite outweigh the cost. To bad fan campaigns weren't as common back than, it might have been saved, because it was sort of boarderline if I remember correctly.

I swear I have finally figured out how shows get cancelled on fox. If they are smart, well written, quirky, have unknown actors, and are backed by creative geniuses who are fairly well known, and there are no side stories of infidelity, backstabbing, and revenge, then fox will cancel the show. ( the only bizzare and inexplicable exception being the x-files, which survived due to Chris Carter's pull with two key fox execs)
I have taken to watching Brisco on Saturday mornings to give me that glow of the Saturday morning serial western/Bruce Campbell fix

Chris- have you bought the book yet, or do I have to start quoting again?

Cheapest one is still almost $60 US, plus whatever shipping would be. Convert that to Canadian and suddenly you're in the neighbourhood of $80-something on a good day. Money I don't currently have.

Not worried, though, price'll go down eventually. I can just be patient.

Meanwhile those two anime box sets that I can get on Ebay for <$40 are looking mighty tempting. . .

I was lucky; I bought it the day it came out, on sale for $70...I woulda paid the full $100 for it though, seein' as the season's got 27 episodes to it!

I actually sold my Chosen Collection to get the funds...I bought it and BTVS season 7, and have been purchasing more Buffy seasons as time goes by (and as finance permits).

Sorry I didn't respond sooner, haven't been on the site that much lately and this thread probably droped off the main page quick.

To answer your question, No. I haven't had much time to watch DVDs lately and I started back over from the beginning on the discs. Still haven't gotten past Bye Bly. *hangs head in shame*

But I have gotten a friend to agree to watch the show with me over Spring Break. She's a big Bruce fan but has never seen it. I'm also going to show her Bubba ;)

Aren't all episodes great? I want to watch them in order and I just can't get past Bye Bly. But mostly I just haven't had the time. That should change over spring break ;)
