As the first 2 of these threads approach 200 posts, I've created a third to reduce load times and attempt to summerize some of the information released in the first two threads.

Dragon*Con takes place in Atlanta, Georgia US on Sept 1-4. Current Firefly/Serenity Guests include Summer Glau, Adam Baldwin, and Alan Tudyk. There is of course more time for others to sign up, and as always, there's the potential for some to have things come up that require them to back out. A complete list of guests from other potential Sci-Fi/Fantasy interests and details on the Convention can be found here: www.Dragoncon.org

Sept 1-4 is a Fri-Mon con. Many of us plan to file in on thursday to secure event passes and rooms and begin sharing our time and getting to know our fellow Browncoats. We aim to misbehave.

My rents just gave the ok! I'm going to Dragon*Con!!!!!! (along with ILoveFirefly and AintWeJust) *sings a little happy song and skips around happily* Oooo, I gotta get started on my Kaylee costume!!!!!

We'll be going down on August 30th, gotta book a hotel....I hope we'll be able to find one that isn't booked yet....is the Marriott the best to be in? or the Hyatt? hmm...the Hyatt is sold out...i guess it's the Marriott then. any D*C rates or anything? and is the Marriot ok?? what hotel are the panels in??

Panels tend to be in the Hyatt, Shopping tends to be in the Marriott. Both are likely sold out now for months. You might want to check Hilton which is behind Marriott or Westin or Days Inn which are about a block away.
There are con rates, but that requires calling the hotel for reservations about 4 months ago.

The Hyatt is more or less the main hotel up front on the main street where the parade will be. Marriott is Directly behind it. Police tend to moitor and direct trafic for us at the area between for easy crossing of the street. there's also a connecting hamster tunnel over the street. The Hilton is directly behind the Marriott and is the main hotel for Gamers. I believe the main site www.dragoncon.org states the games(Role Playing/Collectable Card Games) will be there this year. The rest of the Hyatt may be sold out, but last I heard there are still rooms on the Browncoat floor, and there will be a lot of Browncoat parties on this floor, so it's worth checking out.

I concur. I skipped two classes last year to go and it was worth it. I may be missing one class this time (if I get in, I'm on the wait list. It's kinda bad that I won't be able to make the very first class...) since I'm flying down Thursday (so I won't miss anything!)

I am very pleased to announce that the Propstore of London has, very kindly, donated some items for the Southeastern Browncoats charity auction at DragonCon. We have a heist money display, a Maidenhead gambling chip display, and a razored Reaver throwing weapon. I don't have pictures yet, but as soon as I manage to scare up a digital camera, we'll post them on the SEBC website. Until then, you can visit www.propstore.com and check out the pics they have in their gallery.

We have several other items for the auction, as well. Some lovely artwork donated by kind and loving Browncoats, amongst other things. As soon as I have the camera (and I get the art back from the framing gallery) we'll post pics. More details following soon

The exhibit hall is in both the Marriott and the Hilton. (Marquis Ballroom and Grand Salon)
The dealer hall is in the same location in the Marriott (International South).
The art show has moved to the Hyatt (Grand Hall).
Walk of Fame is at the Hilton in the Grand Salon.
Gaming is located in the Hilton in the Galleria Ballroom.
Keep in mind that Gaming this year is taking place in the Hilton. Make your reservations accordingly.

I'm looking for a little guidance from the veterans...
I am thinking about making another Browncoat and maybe several sets of the buckles for the Browncoat to bring to D*C. How do I go about selling them there? Is there a con-goers vendor price, or a table that sells on commission...?
Any suggestions or links would be appreciated.

Well, tristan this can be very easy. Fireflygal sells lanyards and pins and apparently has a few surprises in store for us this year. She tends to spend a bit of time around the Firefly/Serenity fan table which should be set up by the vendors area entrance. and word spreads of what she has and people look for her. She may have some better advice on how things work. Also, the fan table tends to have some products available as they also do raffles, or have in the past. They may be able to pawn your wares there, just check back with them every so often. My understanding is the tables there are very expensive, and likely unavailable at this point for dealer's room. Best to go word of mouth by the fan table. fans from all the boards will go there. you might be able to leave a sample, and your # for interested parties to contact you, if you have a cell at the con. but best to check with folks at the fan table to be sure.

I'm running the fan table this year. We would be happy to help you out if you need it. We couldn't sell your wares from the table directly, D*C has lots of rules on what we can and can't do, but we would be happy to point people to you. That's what we did for Fireflygal last year and it seemed to work fairly well

Ahem, yes, worked well IS an understatement! I ran out of items on Saturday. But discretion is the word. You can't sell stuff unless you pay major coin for a table, so we can't be too blatant about it. Although I did sell some items to a couple of dealers who were Browncoats.

Well, I met a woman at the ren faire, got most of my pirate gear from her. Seems she's a Browncoat too, and was Making browncoats. good ones. but didn't have the buckles quite right. She was planning to have a table at D*C, you might think on meeting with her. maybe work out a partnership. Though I don't currently have her info in front of me. Cedric (Bedlam Bards) pointed me in her direction, he may be able to help you find her.

JadeHand, not sure I would lump them up there with "Official Replica"-type, but I think they are fairly accurate. The first ones I made for my jacket have a dark-metal latch, but I am working on some now with a brass-colored latch that would probably be closer to the original.
