Ok, it's a strange thought, but I've been revisiting it for weeks now and would like other peoples opinion.

The technology of BSG is compatable with the 'Verse, and although the timeline would need some work, I think it's a fit.

Can you imagine Serenity encountering Galactica and the fleet? Not that'd be an interresting conversation.

If RL wouldn't be in my way, I would do a fic where someone from BSG runs into someone from Serenity and they tell them don't bother looking anymore, because it's now Earth That Was.

Sex and violence on the big screen, where it belongs.

Funny thing, this week (well past couple of weeks actually), I've been thinking of doing just that.
Not just with BSG, but with other shows too

Now I know a crossover with BSG will work much better than say a crossover with Farscape, but if I do get round to doing one, it will be a bit of fun and not an ultra serious fic - so in that way, I think I could have an excuse for having Mal meet John Crichton without hearing "That would never happen!"

I can't help thinking that Adama might not take too kindly to the crews activities. Do you think anyone would object to Inara trying to line up a few new clients?

I was just about to request some links that might lead me to fanfiction of that nature!

I think the Kobol Krowd could easily have been part of the initial expedition that set off from Earth That Was that broke off from the rest, and that Earth's tragic fate inspired romantic legends of a promised land for them.

I get the feeling that their heritage extends back more than 500 years though...

You're quite correct there. The date for BSG is some 2000 years since the twelve colonies were formed.

um, I dunno if anyone else knows this or has noticed it.....

In the pilot episode for the new BSG, Serenity is seen in the top left hand corner flying across the screen.

here's a link of the scene in question.

There's good people in the 'verse. Not many, Lord knows, but you only need a few.

thats Zoic Studios (the guys who built Serenity AND Galactica) being cheeky buggers

Seeing that they have the 3D model, they might as well use it

also, regards to the crossover, gotta remeber Serenity doesn't have a FTL drive, so how would it keep up with the every jumpy FLeet???

heh, ya I knew it was cos it was the same designers. Wasn't sure if anyone else spotted it.

They'd prolly get around the Jumpy Fleet syndrome by docking in the hanger bay of a larger ship. Others in BSG do that before a jump.

I have actually started the fic for Firefly/BSG, but RL has curtailed my writing time lately. I must work on that before someone beats me to it. :)

Maybe, maybe not. There's civilians as part of the crews onboard various ships in the BSG series. So could say he's a volunteer civillian, then would fit in with the "Out of Gas" episode a bit. Unsure on that front. But it is mentioned in a BSG episode (cant remember which one off-hand) when a superior officer is talking and mentions that some of the crew are civilians.

However, it'll be intresting to see these fanfics weave in the Alliance into the BSG/Firefly crossover - them's the ones that created the Cylons, huh?

I was informed that the same effects house does the effects for BSG. The shooting style is very similar, and I'm sure you know Serenity made an appearance in the miniseries. I don't remember Serenity having an FTL drive...otherwise they could have the crew of Serenity on BG sometime.

A Firefly-class ship, anyway. Prolly not Serenity.

I've gotten so used to Zoic-style space sequences that I find myself really impatient with other more traditional shooting styles, you know, where everything is in frame and the cameras are all where they're supposed to be when they're supposed to be.

Not only was Serenity (or at least a Firefly-class ship) in the BSG mini, but a very battered Galactica was one of the Reaver fleet in Serenity.

Anyway... my preference is to think of Firefly/Serenity as a precursor to BSG. If Firefly is the post civil-war western era of the 'verse, BSG is the modern, post WWII era.

Earth was abandoned, and the legends of it begin to form. The core worlds of the Alliance become the 12 colonies, while the outer worlds essentially die off from poverty and/or oppression from the Alliance.

The Alliance, in thier wisdom, begin developing AI soldiers, leading to the creation of cylons. FTL drives are developed around the same time.

But that's just me. I also like watching the Terminator trilogy as a precursor to the Matrix trilogy (which works out pretty well, really).

That's cool. I thought Terminator 3 was underappreciated. It took guts to end the movie like that. I'd love to see a 4th (hopefully with the actors from 3), obviously with no Arnold. Also hoping The Sarah Connor Chronicles make it to air.
