I think I'm going to have to go with Marvin from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
Morbid and creepifying I got no problem with, so long as you do it quiet like.

Jumpin' in just before bed to vote for the Buffybot. I loved that brave little toaster.
I'll let the other Buffy fans here post some of her many funnies.

Hard choice between the daggit, 1812 and marvin... Better just put them all up for first place and let them fight it out.
You can’t stop the Signal.

Hmm. Hard call. Assuming piloted mecha don't count, my top list would be:
DRD-1812
R2-D2
Bumblebee (from Transformers --the original everybot)
Dinobot (from Beast Wars --broody lone-raptor warrior who quoted Shakespeare)
Cheetor (from Beast Wars/Beast Machines --started out as a whiny little brat, and evolved into a seasoned leader and eventual supreme commander of the Maximals)
Not sure if Andromeda/Rommie should count; while there are robots under her control, Andromeda herself is an AI, distinct from any body she may inhabit.

Anakin Skywalker. Oh wait, just his acting was robotic.....
NOTIFY: Y | REPLY | REPLY WITH QUOTE | PERMALINK | TOP | HOME
"By your command", the original Cylons. Not sure if they were in fact robots though...
V.I.N.cent from the Black Hole.
Safeat2nd: not entirely sure if he's not a robot too.

Floatybot Vincent from the Black Hole. Sarcastic and know it all, but he had character.
But failing that, probably the 'bots from Silent Running.
NOTIFY: Y | REPLY | REPLY WITH QUOTE | PERMALINK | TOP | HOME
R2-D2 then probably Marvin. But I love R2; right little hero, makes cute beeping sounds, and you just know he's got a foul mouth.

I know they are bad guys, but I have developed a new affection for Daleks. I don't know what they were like back in the day, but the Eccleston Doctors Daleks are all shades of creepy.

GENERAL GRIEVOUS!!! Oh, wait... he has a human heart and eyeballs. Well, I love R2-D2, too.

"I think we should call it YOUR GRAVE!"

Maximillian from Blackhole. The beginning of many robophobias in us humans.
NOTIFY: Y | REPLY | REPLY WITH QUOTE | PERMALINK | TOP | HOME
Daleks aren't robots. They have a squishy little Kaled mutant in them, so they are really just envro-suits. Or tanks with plungers in case of a stopped drain. D@mn you, Davros!
While I love V.I.N.Cent from The Black Hole I'd really have to go with the other floatybot, B.O.B. I mean, V.I.N.Cent just seemed like Kitt from Knightrider as a robot. But B.O.B. was Slim Pickens. Now that's cool.

I go with chrisisall here.
Robot from "Lost in Space".
Of course Dr. Smith would have to tag along. You can't separate them. It would be like separating Abbot and Costello, only worse.
"Warning Will Robinson."
Chrisisall remember when an alien turned Robot into gold and he paraded around telling everybody to call him "Golden Boy".![]()

I can't believe no one's mentioned him yet. He's regarded as the only robot in sci-fi history that isn't either an effeminate wimp or a psycotic killing machine. I am of course talking about.....
BENDER from FUTURAMA.
My fave Bender bit from the first Xmas episode.
Conan O'Brien: Listen, pal. I may have lost my freakishly long legs in the war of 2012, but I have something you'll never have. A soul.
Bender: Meh
Conan: AND FRECKLES!!
Bender: (breaks down and cries)
You know what, practically every robot that you see on FUTURAMA was great as well. My favorite cameo one was Hedonism Bot that came in on the fourth season. Just the fact that there's a robot made to serve no purpose but to eat grapes and act like a Roman senator is just great.
"Surgery? In an opera? How wonderfully decadent. And justy as I was beginning to lose interest. Jumby, the chocolate icing." (has it slathered all over him) "Ohhh, oh my yes, hhmmmhmmmhmmmm."

"There's only one "Return" ok, and it ain't "of the King", it's "of the Jedi."
"Maybe we should start calling your friend 'Padme' because he loves 'Mannequin Skywalker' so much, Right? (imitating robot) Danger...danger...my name is Anakin...my shitty acting is ruining saga."

I second your fascination with the new Daleks. After seeing the "Dalek" episode of the new series, I've become huge fans of them. They are by far the best "killer robots" in sci-fi. They could definitly trash the Cylons.
Favorite line of the first season-
"Then hear me talk now. Exterminate...EXTERMINate...EXTERMINAAATTTEE!!!"

No, no no! Daleks are not robots! It's already been said, they are a degenerate life form that needs to live in a metallic shell, so they really belong in the cyborg thread...

What, no other Buffybot fans about? For shame! Also surprised no one has voted for Six from the new BSG. That's one pretty cool robot :)
I can understand having a soft spot for the original K-9, but don't forget his brilliant appearance in the updated version.
Mickey has reactivated K9
Mickey Smith: Okay, no time to explain, we need to get inside the school. Do you have, like, I don't know, a lock picking device?
K9: We are in a car.
Mickey Smith: Maybe a drill attachment?
K9: We are in a car.
Mickey Smith: shouts in frustration Fat lot of good you are!
K9: We are in a car.
Mickey Smith: Wait a second... We're in a car!!! shouts Get back!
crashes car through main doors
Hee hee hee!

I thought about Six, but I was thinking she belonged more in the Cyborg class. I guess I mean that to me she seems less synthetic and more organic with respect to her human biological characteristics. And did I say Marvin before? You got to love Marvin, but what the hell was I thinking. I want to change that to Mr. Universe's Love Bot.
Morbid and creepifying I got no problem with, so long as you do it quiet like.

My vote has to go with Marvin from Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy. You had to love his constant doom and gloom attitude. And wonderfully portrayed by Alan Rickman in the film, might I add.
