Just curious. There are some that are pretty self explanatory and others that are not.
Mine is easy. I wanted to show that I was a fan of the man and that he is on the top of THE LIST. My toyboy is well aware that he will be dropped like a hot potato should Nathan ever beckon.
So what is the meaning behind yours?

"Mavourneen" is what my wonderful Irish speaking grandmother called me.
It's pronounced "Ma-Vernon"
Loosely translated (it's kindof gaelic slang) it means "Pretty Little Girl"
If you saw a cute little toddler, the kind where you just have that ungodly urge to pinch their cheeks, she would be a mavourneen.
It means a lot to me, and I use it everywhere.
I miss my gran. I remember her everytime I log in somwhere.

I came up with mine in about 1 minute when I was registering for something. It came about in two parts.
fred: I was home-schooled for a long ass time, when I started public school again in the 8th grade there was already a guy in my home room named Jeff. One of the other kids immediately decided that I looked like a Fred and started calling me that instead of Jeff. Since I wasn't very outgoing to begin with and the name was given to me early on most of the people then (and I imagine still a few now) thought my name actually WAS Fred.
giblet: In Shooters, when you blow up someones body the pieces that go flying around are sometimes referred to as "gibs", I can (and have many times) beat all my friends at various shooters, so one time when the issue of a name came up (i think in Unreal Tournament) I took Fred, added something about gibs and became fredgiblet.

Mine is Tolkien elvish.
Kel - Means go away
Khil - means follow me
I created the name for a D&D Character about 12 years ago and it just kinda stuck. My alter ego so to speak. I am known by it on a few blogs here and there.

I love this question!!
So, longish story. One that is vaguely related to another alread in this thread.
Agent= Matrix, X-Files and whatever else. I believe it was originally from Agent Smith because he is one of the three most awesome baddies of all time.
Rusco= Tolkien Elvish (Quenya to be exact.) It means "fox". They happen to be my favorite animal. Really has nothing to do with Fox broadcasting or anything like that. Also doesn't hurt that Mulder (from X-Files) is gifted with Fox as a first name. Nothing is cooler.
Anyhow AgentRusco has been my online name for about as long as I've been online. I began as a Lord of the Rings geek (still am), and have spilled out a few other places, mostly here.
People know me.
Heck, here's a prject for you: google me. Do it. You know you wanna.

I got mine from a Buffy episode. Angel tripped while climbing through Buffy's bedroom window, and she called him Stealth Guy.
I have always been known as a quiet person. Often people don't hear me come up behind them, and they often say that they never realize I am at work because I keep quiet. I know. I must be a real "life of the party" type.
I try not to use my last name in screen names or email addresses anymore, but I don't mind using my first name. I could use my first name and last initial, but I don't know how well it would go over if I used "ChrisT" as a screen name

Well the one that I use here is an abbreviated version of my alter-ego AD&D character's name.
I created Sindra Falcone as a ranger/mage to play in an online game called "Phantasam of The Realms" over at Delphi forums. That was about 7 years ago.
Since then I've used the name almost everywhere. But I actually snagged the name off of some horrid late night TV b-movie thing. It had an animated host named Sindra and I thought it was a kick-@$$ name!

Been a fan of the Original Adventures of Jonny Quest since it was first on (or at least the first run in syndication). You know, a short-lived series (one season, 26 episodes, but they were only a half hour long) about a close knit group that finds adventure in remote locales. And devoid of any bothersome women. (Okay so it's not an exact match to Firefly...)
I greatly identified with him, except he was cool where I was not. At the time I bore more than a passing resemblance to him, being a near-white haired towhead. (Not so much anymore. Now I look like the reddish-blonde, fuzzy-headed, bearded GI Joe from that era.)
Started using it, or its parts, as passwords and when the age of IM dawned, it was a natural fit.
P. S. Anyone know how to get your own icon? It says to "email me" but does say who "me" is. I figured it was Haken, but haven't gotten a response yet. Of course, I KNOW he's busy...Thanks.

I got it back in law school. One of my fellow editors of the law school magazine gave me this name to use as an occasional non de plume, so it didn't look so much like the magazine was basically just a vanity press for the three or four of us editing the thing :)
Anyway, I liked it and I've kept it for "fun" (as opposed to commercial or political) online stuff. It's kind of silly and I've realized, in retrospect, it's a lot less pretentious than some of the alter ego names I used as a kid.

Some Sumerian info about Nunki:

m
"""
Under the star names of Sagittarius \sigma is Greek letter Sigma with Bold and Underline Nunki which is an untranslated ancient Babylon proper name. The Babylonians thought this star was the heavenly counterpart to their city Ridu, sacred to the god Ea (forms the handle of the teapot with Tau). In the Akkadian language, Sagittarius is called Nunki which means "The Prince of the Earth." The Sumerian King List mentions five cities existing before the Flood; Eridu, Bad-tibiria, Larak, Sippar, and Shuruppak. As you would suspect Ridu is the same as Eridu.

So, a (the capital?) city of the gods, prince of the earth... Well, I found that cool enough to make it my handle those years ago.

Star Pilot Grainger is a main character in an obscure SF book series by Brian Stableford. So obscure that I've met very few people who've even heard of him. But I was just finishing rereading the collection of it when it came time to sign up here and so I decided to use it.

my handle is two parts. One simple, and one mult-ilayered.
Regina = Because I live in the booming metropolis of Regina, Saskatchewan. I've been living here for the last five years now and actually consider this place to be my actual hometown, even though I lived an hour and a half away on a farm near my real hometown of Mossbank. People may deride Regina, but I love it. It's like a really big small town, and it has a bunch of things that almost no other place in Saskatchewan has.
Roadie = Three reasons. 1) Because I'm a rocker and think it would be really cool to be a roadie for a band. 2)I love driving and road trips and for the last four months I've been basically living out of my car. And 3) It's just something I'd love to do for the rest of my life. My folks have traveled around the world and it kinda rubbed off on me. And even if I could afford to, I'd rather drive to a place than fly or take any other mode of transportation. There's a mythic quality to being on the road that I love that you don't get with flying.

When I was a little girl my best friend (the same bf that introduced me to Firefly) was, and still is, a huge Star Wars fan. I, myself, was a huge Trekkie... why we got along so well is beyond me! lol, anyhow she went around our group of friends giving us each a SW nickname. Being that I was the tallest of our group I ended up with Chewie. I hated it! But it stuck... next thing I know its 13 odd years later and everyone still calls me Chewie. My nieces even call me Aunt Chewie, and I wouldn't change it for the world. ;)

Yin and Yang - eastern philosophy for bad and good, and that whole balancing game they play. It's good that I've gotten into Firefly and Serenity, but bad that the show was cancelled; good that this site is here, but bad in that I can't seem to get away... etc. Basically, the pros and cons of being a Browncoat. Yinyang.

My first name is Pat. I was a comic book fan in my youth, and when my friends and I would watch the Batman TV show from the 1960's (in syndication by the time we got to see the show in the afternoons after school), they would go "Nananananananananananan...Patman, Patman...Patmaaaaaaaannnnnn!!!!" There you go.

Well mine is obviously (at least i hope it's obvious) from the scene in serenity (the pilot not the movie) where wash is playing with the dinosaurs.
I chose the name because that's one of my favorite scenes in the series, Wash is just so hilarious.

i like your name though chrisisall. Rolls off the tongue all easy like.
Er, Seryn is from my email, which is a variation on serendipity, the y is there because my family appears to have a dislike of the letter 'i' and will replace it with a 'y' or even just wedge a y in wherever possible (on a mildly interesting note, my sisters middle name is Jayne, and i was thinking of calling myself 'Jayne IS a girls name' but knew i'd get sick of typing it afore long)
the only other name i've used online is meddlenot (from 'meddle not with dragons for you are crunchy and good with ketchup') and Lynnet, which again is a y variation on Linnet, which is a bird and pretty.

Well, I actually named two of the three in this very thread. The other has a lot to do with my name. The third is of course Darth Vader. I will never be able to decide which of the three is greatest. I have a thing for baddies though. I like the Operative and Scar (from Lion King) and on and on. I shall not list them all.

Hmm. I was Tristan before I had a computer; I used it while in the SCA (don't worry, I am no longer a member) and also for Ren Faires afterwards. Everywhere I am online I use some version of Tristan, be it alone or with numbers after it. I honestly think more people know me by that name than by my birth name!
I did not shoose it because of the Arthurian link; I actually liked the various translations: in Welsh, it meant "noisy one" or "laborer" (not sure why the odd pairing); in French, triste means "sad"...so, I am the sad, noisy laborer!

Hell, Michigan. My hubby plays melodeon and told me once of a photo that exists somewhere in either the Morris or squeezebox community. (From either the Midwest Ale or the Squeeze-In).
There is a large barn blazoned with the words "Welcome to Hell". Below this is a large group of people holding their accordeons/concertinas/etc.

DTuck is an amalgamation of my first initial, and part of my last name. Nothing fancy here.
Though, for some reason, FFF.net was a bit kerflunkered in the early days, so my original screen-name, CitrusBlast, became un-log-in-able.
I use CitrusBlast, or CB, everywhere else.
That came from one of those "gotta pick a screenname to enter a chatroom" moments, and I was tired of inputting my old(er) name of VincentVentrescaWannaBe, so I looked around for inspiration... and came upon a generic soda can on my desk, with the slogan "A Blast of Citrus Flavor!" ... So, I became CitrusBlast.

Its a mutant, that is the enemy, or a mutant enemy...but Mordacil come from when i used to play starcraft in seventh grade, i needed a cool (to me) name and had jsut finished Tolkiens Silmarillion and saw the Quenya(elvish) suffix/prefix index in teh back, so...mor- = dark, -dacil = victor, you can see the root mor in mordor, morgoth, etc.
May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one, so I joined starfleet and was stationed at the SGC to fight the covenant, whos gate happens to be down, and through which I must cast the ring from whence it came. It was our last best hope for peace but it failed so millions of voices cried out and were suddenly silent but there was no spoon and also no fate but what we make for ourselves.

Mine started because I used to play a Game called Giants at Uni (only as research into computer simulations, you understand) in which was a character named Citizen Kabuto.
I then Started playing Counter Strike where my name changed to Citizen Suicide, because of my tactics that involved running at the opposing side with a knife.
And then getting shot.
At some point which I'm not particularly sure of it changed to Citizen Pain (probably around the time I actually got good...) partially as a nod to my abillities to inflict pain on my opponents (god that I was...) and partly as a fairly transparent nod to Citizen Kane.
I've gradually dropped the pain part (though it still follows me to this day to some degree), but that's the story of my name.

It's an acronym for something that started back in University about 10 years ago. At that time the Unix systems still allowed the "finger" command, which would display information about a user on the system, such as Name, Address, etc., according to what the user had entered. Can't remember the reason why, but for my name I put "Names are for lesser men", which became the acronym "naflm" because I ccouldn't put spaces into an email address (although I probably could have used periods instead).
