Cynical is good. I can go with cynical.
Your not 50, but cynical trumps age.
Anyway, most everyone here is under 30.
Now I know why no one responds when I mention Buster Crabbe in Flash Gordon.
Their all going, "Buster who"?

I guess that means I'll be 21. No, I hate the whole "almost" and "suchnsuch ana half"
So that makes me 20. And I'm a recruiter. Made about a dozen so far.

Lol, when "Buster" comes up I think of Buster Keaton (the master of physical comidy). A bit before my and your time, Traveler. Crabbe was the original Tarzan, though. For those who have no idea what I'm talking about, check out both 'Busters'. Fun stuff from a different era.

Hello all

Ha! That's the most amazing thing ever. But I disagree, Douglas Adams is never wrong. you just need to find the question is all. Perhaps the question is as simple as this: How old am I? or: How old is CarolJude. After all, that is pretty much what the present question is.
So, carry on as the answer to life, the universe and everything. Or something. At least until you turn 43...

Rcat. Good to here you mention Buster Keaton. One of the few actors who crossed over from silent film to sound. I lucked out and got his epic silent movie "the General". He was one of greatest comedians of all time. Good call Rcat.

Thanks for starting this one, BigWolf18. I'm 46 and glad to see I'm not the oldest, though it did take awhile to get to the fogey section. I assume that just means we don't move so quick. I think it's great our age span runs from River to Book.
I just love threads like this because so much more comes through beside just the answer to the question. And there's so many points to pick up on! Buster Crabbe rules! [nods to Traveler]
Arcadia and BornToFly, My favorite drinking age story is this: when I turned eighteen they had just lowered the legal age in Michigan not long before. When I turned twenty, they raised it back to 21. So I was legal for two years and suddenly I was not. I was the same person. "That sounds like the Alliance. Unite the planets under one rule. Everyone can be interfered with or ignored. Equally." On the bright side I did get to become legal twice...!
And if you haven't already, check out the Religions/Beliefs of Browncoats thread from this weekend. Only Browncoats could be so diverse and so civil about it. Congrats to all you posters.

Hello fellow brownthingies I mean coats. Well I have some info for you about the thread here if you care to take a listen. I did the numbers ( nope is wasn't calculating Darkflys age)
For those who have responded it breaks down a bit like this:
Age 50+ this thread=6
Age 40-49 numbers=15
Age 30-39 numbers=28
Age 20-29 numbers=28
Age under 20 numbers=23
Now this is just a rough look-through so don't hold me to be exact. There were several " I'll be ? next week" kinda post and a few " I ain't gonna tell ya."
Traveler I do remember Buster Crabb and Flash Gordon. In fact I was in a dollar store some time back and there was a whole stack of dvds of the old Flash Gordon b/w tv series. I bought a few of them. Then there was the Flash Gordon movie a few years back with Queen doing the soundtrack, I won’t say more about that movie.
Johnny Quest ( Wow does that bring me back) Welcome to the boat if you're new. In fact welcome to all the new recruits who have come out of lurking to join this thread. There are plenty of interesting postings on here that I would have loved to caught right after they were put up but my Alliance life was calling so I do have to put on a purple jacket now and then (course I wear my brown one under it). Anyway great thread. Hope theres more.

Thanks also for the summary. Seems like an appropriate cross-section, but I'd like to see more of us elders in the mix. But it is nice to see the money demographic so well represented. Thank you for responding. Lately it seems I've been a thread killer. I haven't checked out your fanfic yet (but I most certainly will), but I was quite impressed by your Kaylee, and would like to see more. Love your icon, too. Who's it and who's it by? You and you?

Thanks Johnny - cool screen name. Johnny Quest was one of my favorite cartoons growing up.
Considering the youngster that started this thread is 13, I figured 39 is elder-ish. Then again, I hear that for women these days, 60 is the new 50, 50 is the new 40 and 40 is the new 30, so by that reckoning, I'm actually 29
My icon - would that it was me, but that's Jeanette Lee. She's known as The Black Widow with the WPBA. I appropriated her likeness for the Gunrunners RP a couple years back. Now she just seems exceedingly appropriate for the tagline.
I've done Mal as well and had plans for more, but of course school doesn't allow for a lot of that right now. I figure ways to work Firefly into class projects when I can. My artist page on the MNArtists.org web site currently features a piece called "Moon Grey Blue" that I borrowed Nathan Fillion's pretty face for. That was for a project where we were to design illustrations for Winston Newton Ink bottles.

Ummm , nope ! If you had a birthday and 'turned' 27 , you have *completed* your 27th orbit , and are heading well into your 28th orbit at a velocity of approximately 66,000 miles per hour !
Meanwhile , you're also *spinning* at about 1,000 miles per hour . So , if you've ever wondered why folk tend to seem more confused as they become older , now you know that we've got a good excuse ! Or two .
I'm nearly done with my 45th orbit by this way of reckoning .

Hang on to your seats: been 20 at least three times now...that's right 60!!!
LOL I am approaching 3 times 20. I just turned 58 last month, and I never act my age.
I do remember paying a nickle for Saturday matinees. I saw a few of the "Flash Gordon" episodes, but I never went every week to see the whole series. Traveler, if I ever get a chance to view the entire series, I will be sure to let you know.

I have tried to cram in as much sci-fi into my brain as I could. I started with weekly episodes of "The Twilight Zone" in my youth, and I think I was 8 years old when I first saw "The Forbidden Planet." I don't go for the bloody violent sci-fi shows, but when "The Train Job" first aired in 2002, I was there. I've been a Browncoat ever since.

Or two .
Yikes! No wonder I get sooooo confused.

I made a web site to introduce my friends to the 'Verse.

20, gonna be 21 in awhile. Sadly I don't live anywhere where they have drinking laws sensible enough for people to follow.
Broke my record today; number of consecutive days alive.
Awesome.
