I'd like to announce a new website, made by Browncoats, thanking Universal for making Serenity.

On this site, Browncoats upload pictures that convey messages of gratitude to Universal. It's an opportunity for us to say thanks, see each other, and show off all of our licensed merch! We can also rank pics, explore a map that tracks upload locations, post waves, and more.

It's not a problem if you're shy. Your picture does not need to actually have you in it (see FAQ on the site).

The launch of this site is part of the Summer of Serenity Campaign. It would be great to have lots of uploads in time for Sept. 30, but this is also a long-term project. This is our chance to show Universal how much we appreciate the BDM, and have fun in the process!

Thanks for all the compliments, and thanks to everyone who has posted photos and waves so far. This site has been a lot of fun to create, and I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with for their BDTYs.

I can't take all the credit, though. I had the idea, but Hera and RB made it happen. Hera did the beautiful design work, and RB built the site. One of the coolest things (besides the collage on the front page) is the map page, IMO. You all should check it out!

There are little surprises if you click around the site, too.

I looked around a bit more and it is lovely. One hitch...I have dial-up and even after 20 minutes, the map didn't load so I still have no idea what that page looks like or does.

Saxon isn't Nathan. She is a long time, faithful Browncoat who posts mostly on the Firefly OB ("Original Board"). Saxon was one of the lucky fans who got to be an extra in Serenity. She is also one of the Browncoats featured in the documentary "Done the Impossible".

I've been having so much fun looking at the pics.
They are really starting to come in now. They are all awesome! Gettin' lots of waves too.

The map is very shiny with it's click thru interface and then you can go click thru who posted what and see the pictures in a row. Very nice.

Omg--I totally can't wait to come up with a shiny idea for a pictures :D This is *exactly* the kind of thing I was hoping for. It's a great place to post our love for the 'verse for the world to see--and we all know a picture is worth a thousand words, and yet, it still doesn't quite convey what we feel, but it's enough! The best part is, it makes people say, "Hey--who're all these (shiny) people? Well hell, if people are taking time to do this, it must be something!"

I have enjoyed the Big Damn Thanks site. I uploaded a pic. It's not great. I just quickly wrote a Thank You on top of it. Not very original, but I think it's a great idea to get a chance to see Browncoats around the world. It hasn't shown up yet.

I love the map, but so far I've only found pics from the US. Are there any others up yet?

I have been clicking around like to check out the map, waves, gallery, and vids. I hate to think that I might be missing something. I did find one to take me to an official site. Are there more? Any hints?

You know, I found that, and... well, I'm not gonna spoil it, but nothing really happened. It was like this black screen of death with something it wanted me to click to run, and... nothing happened. I'm pretty sure I know what it is (if it's the same thing from YouTube), but... I woke up a half-hour ago, and my day has already started to stink, and this just piles on the hurt.

EDIT: Nevermind, it works on another browser! I love it!

We hope that Browncoats from all around the world will start putting up pics soon! So far there have only been pics from the U.S. but the word is spreading.

Some folks are waiting to post a pic until they think of just exactly how they want to say thank you, others have waited for their group to do it.. that'll be so shiny when we get group pics up too! Did everyone see the Jayne's? That is an awesome pic!! Check it out if you haven't yet.

The map generates some (xml-based) traffic; but not 20 minutes worth of it. :) There was a brief moment, yesterday, when I had enabled global hotlink protection, that FireFox browsers could no longer retrieve the data (long story), and would just keep waiting for the country-data endlessly. We noticed it in time, though; or rather, lol, it seems we didn't. :) You may have been caught between that proverbial rock and a hard place.

This is such a great idea. It needs to be bumped.

I assume there are a lot of new folks out there that don't know about the BigDamnThankYou site. It had such a great start, but it needs to continue. Have you added a comment or a pic?

There have been only 6 comments added since the beginning of this year. There haven't been any pics added since I added my last one on December 11th.

If you really want more Firefly/Serenity, show Universal on this site. Do you really want them to find that there are only 247 fans that have added a comment and 135 Browncoats interested enough to add a pic? It makes it look like there are only 250 fans of the show. Come on; check it out; post a comment; and add a pic.

Are you going to say that you have no skills to make a pic? It can be done anyway that you want, but here's an easy way:

Open power point application
Pic a cool background
Add a pic or two with a little text
Save it as a jpeg, gif, or png

It's that easy.

I hope to see some new things.
