Prayers for Static

Many of us have become very well acquainted with a browncoat named Static, a National Guardsman currently stationed in Kandahar, Afghanistan.

Static asked me to ask us to send a few highly concentrated prayers EAST for the next six hours (starting about 4:00P CST) , specifically for the servicemen on the ground where he's stationed. No details will ever be available. All he could say was that he and his wingman were going to go and be "big damn heros."

UPDATE: CONFIRMED! Static himself has posted to let us know he's home safe!

Thanks to EVERYBODY who posted, and to those who may not have been moved to post but responded to the request.

This is not a hoax or a false alarm. Please post as you feel moved to, but Do Not Sully This.

Here is the beginning of my 6-hour vigil for Static and those with him...

A Prayer for Those in the Armed Services

O God of Mercy*, we beg You now to protect in a special way those who are fighting for us and for the country we love. Bless them and take care of them. If they are tired, give them strength. If they are wounded and suffering, give them comfort. If they are lonely, touch them with Your gentle hand and let them know that You are near them. Grant them strength, wisdom and help through Your power and Your limitless love. Amen.

You know, here's the thing...

I've been lurking here forever, kind of a dork when it comes to using message boards, and computers in general so was always to "shy" to join in and post something. Been a FFfan since about 3 episodes into the series - miss it terribly as do most of you.

But that's beside the point in this thread... I finally had to join in 'cuz I think you folks are pretty dang cool for passing on such thoughts as I've seen here. You're right - everyone overthere is ALREADY big damn heros. Most all of the men and women over there would sure as hell rather be back here, home with their loved ones, but they're doing what they have to do.

God bless them, each and every one. And thanks to all of you for brightening my days...

We all love ya, Static....I came into the vigil late (dang my real life!) but I sent as many prayers as I could muster :)

here's my deepest hopes that your "little ceramic/kevlar coccoon in the sky" brings you back safe to us.

Static said 6 hours.

Here is the military math. Mission starts at 1200. Make everyone be on site at 1000. Sit and wait for 3.5 hours (1330) before we get moving. Actually move out at 1400.
Mission takes 6 hours plus/minus 20%. This means it could be 4 hours or 8 hours.
Post mission debrief. 1 hour.
Pee, shower, eat, colapse. 2 hours.

Sleep. 3 to 8 hours.

Come back online and tell us he's okay. Tomorrow morning.

We will say our prayers and keep him safe inside our affection. Don't start worrying yet. Military math isn't the same as math 'in the world'.

I'm back, I got back on time last night, but was unable to get online with any stability. I read all of your posts and I was very moved.
