I posted over on the Scifi Firefly boards that the new goal should be 2000+ because of yesterday's numbers and 'cause so many sites are gathering support for it. As for getting the votes taken away, it looks like they're ares. HOORAY BROWNCOATS!!!! KEEP VOTING!!!

EvilBungle, thanks for pointing out that the folk running the vote site says we get to keep 'em!

Deranged, your theory more sites/more support/more votes sounds alot more likely than mine I also like it because it means we may not only get to keep 'em, but we may be able to repeat it semi-regular!
I was going to go into an elaborate theorization about how our 700ish/day was likely a core of folk supported by some that vote every few days. Rotating turns y'know? Everyone felt sorta guilty about leaving the voting to the core folk over the long weekend, & all came out to vote on Monday...

Hey site moderator(s) (or anyone who's maybe trackin' such things) Did we get a sudden influx of members?

I wonder if theres a way to see if Buffy and Angel's vote intake drasticly increased with ours. Whedonesque posting on it probably got us a lot of new voters who would vote for those shows as well.

I've been voting for Firefly and Buffy (and ST:TNG) all along and kind of keeping track day to day:
Buffy's vote total increased from a daily average of about 150 to an overnight total of 522.
Angel's increased from an average of about 90 to a total of 373.
No noticeable change in ST:TNG.

if you wonder why the heck Rich La Bonte is putting the effort into this poll. It seems to be because he does a lot of stuff that he just likes to put out there for people to enjoy (or not...your choice).

If you nose around you'll find free music, free books, free news (!), links to things he's been doing since the 70s. Born in 1946, yes, La Bonte is the age of someone you might expect to vote for Bonanza (I'm only 3 years younger), so please, no more talk about geezers. They are just different from us.

And really, if a Bonanzite (Bonanzer? Bonanzoid?) ever saw Firefly, don't you think the guns and horses might just get them hooked?

I never noticed such thing. Before the change we used to get 150, 160 votes per day, but apparently there were fans using script (without the big group knowing!) Our record was 292 in a day, never more. Now after the change we perform even worse.

This is just so great, I can't stop grinning. I knew if we got the word out, we'd gain significantly.

I'll also support Lexx. I kind of liked the story, though it was supremely weird.

Now, we must gather force for the 1st. The e-mail I sent to the Captain have not yet been read by him, so I don't know if we can expect too much help from that quarter.

That's about the time I started tracking votes for the top 9 shows. Perhaps I miskeyed Lexx's entry for the 'big gain' day & noted it as a hit when I keyed the proper number the following day.
More recently whenever there's been a big jump in the numbers I've become rather OCD about making sure I didn't miss something.

They've noticed our votes and tend to think we've cheated!

And they call us 'youngsters', which is not too bad since we call them geezers.... I've read somewhere this gives offence. Hope not too much

There is, however, some confusion as to why Firefly is doing so well, since only 14 episodes aired. They seem to think we are rabid. Well, no argument there.

And that we don't have jobs, which allows us to vote all day, every day.

And they think all the sci-fi shows are banding together to push us ahead, and that maybe the Xenites are also pushing us to flout them. How likely is that?

Some of them also thought that the Browncoats should also then be voting for Bonanza, as firefly is a western?! I guess that's not gonna happen. They are however asking all western fans for help. They recognise us as their strongest competition. And some of them seem to be getting tired of the vote.

We will not lose.

I'm partly voting for Firefly too, because I want Bonanza beaten!!! Somehow I hate westerns (although Firefly's western elements weren't bad at all). I can't paste the link as I am at work and google groups are blocked but if you go to the vote site and head down below the shows to the explanation part there is a link there where flat rich discusses what is going on.

On the note of the end date, i am sure I remember seeing that there was no end in sight, so I think end of teh year is unlikely.

finally does anyone have any links to other shows sites where this is being discussed? I have been checking out some farscape quotes but it would be good to see how much we are being noticed.

I've gotten that error a few times (first thing this morning in point of fact). I went back to the vote page, refreshed it, reselected the shows I vote for, and voted.

Once I did that, there haven't been any problems today. Been voting every hour since 0530EST (GMT-5).

Let's get these bugs worked out folks. Spread the signal as far and wide as you can. I want everyone who wants to vote to be able to vote as often as they can (within the rules). No claims of cheatin' or riggin'. I want the world to see that Browncoats can win a stand-up fight with any and all comers (not just the smartest/most tech savvy).

Thanks, just when I posted the previous one it made a liar out of me.

I just had to join Bonanzaworld.net to see what they are saying about us. There lame attempts to bring us down are too funny. For example, they predict us youngster will lose steam for voting because our show was on for only half a season. If they only knew how big the following is. From the tone of the posts, they are pretty worried about us squishing them. They also have a conspiracy theory going, saying that the Sci-Fi Genre is teaming up to push Firefly to number one. Hey, great if they are, still honest votes.

Just been over to the Lexx board to see if they where going to enter into a deal with us and someone (posibly fedexxx) has posted to say we are helping them so hopefully they will honour the arrangement.

The funny thing I read was this comment by the same person (again I think it might be Fedexxx, correct me if I am wrong.)

A little more than 5 hours until the end of the 1st december in Bulgaria, but so far I must have caused at least 50 votes for Firefly!!! I hope this campaign is going to be profitable for Lexx too :) You should know I skipped some of the more boring classes to show some support in exchange for yours :)

BTW less than 1000 votes the last day?!? Perhaps whoever doubled the voter to 1365 got tired? Real shame, imagine if you could get 1500 votes every day... Two slideshows every week :)

I threw in some votes for Lexx as I was voting for Firefly. I must admit, I've never seen Lexx but I wanted to thank all of you for your support.

I've read with some amusement the characterizations of who is voting for what. "The great generation folk" probably haven't seen a lot of firefly. ... so we are young jobless folks, eh?

Personally, I'm a tail end of the baby boom... 43 year old professional. Been voting for firefly for several weeks now; tho I don't bump regularly I watch this thread for the stats, and closure rates, etc. Work a 45-55 hour work week generally. Mostly vote 3 to 5 times a day; sometimes a bit more on weekends; especially if I'm working sat mornings.

Why vote for firefly? It reminds me a lot of the original star trek series; it is "different" from what is out there; has some good social commentary embedded in like the original trek show, yet good entertainment. Social commentary? Yes sir! Trek featured the first interracial kiss on TV. The episode with the light/dark; dark/light races at war with each other making it so apparent how foolish our current racial bigotry is. Many other examples.

Firefly pokes fun at the big government; intrusive government. I could go on, but I'm sure you can draw out your own observations. I would -really- like to see it be more than the first 14 episodes and a movie. Good stuff here.

BTW, I like Bonanza. It has its own charm, but I just can't see it in the same light as the classic shows I appreciate over time.

Today I'm at 11 votes, and still pushing. As a one off, I don't mind it for a fun day of a "big push"; now you start having "vote ins" every day, and I'll just fall back to my normal habits ;-)

One final comment, I know folks have said you can vote every 58 minutes; but are you sure that hasn't changed? The best I can tell it is a strict 60 minutes.
