Lovely new thread and I love the charts at the beginning!
I was really excited, when I noticed Lexx had a solid 200 when all others went down, but we kept up with the trend today :)
But why fif Firefly drop so much :( I'm sure everything will be OK after New Year though :) But not for the other shows I hope ;)

I'd vote for Drive, but I'm trying to nominate The Avengers! Such a cool show from the 60s.

I've noted that major holidays cause major vote drops for the top 3 shows. I suspect that more people than just myself can be more consistent voters when they're at a desk all day. Other folk loose 'net access completely when they're off visiting realatives.

*I've actually done this for Firefly, Lexx, and BSG. For Firefly the numbers next to Bonanza and Xena are catchup numbers to them; the others in the top 10 are for Lexx; where negative numbers mean Lexx is losing ground. For BSG, the numbers next to it are relative to QAF, which I project to be the show they will displace from the top10 when they get there.

eg:
Xena: WP
total votes: 171256
yesterday's gain: 529
Decembers's gain: 14,380
Ave daily vote gain for Xena over Dec: 553
Firefly gained this many votes over Xena yesterday: 267
Based on that gain, Firefly will catch Xena in about this many days: 257
On average, in Dec, Firefly gained this many votes per day against Xena: 314
Based on that gain Firefly will catch Xena in about this many days: 218

Today's votes suggest most shows are "back on average"; and Firefly is back on it's "average to close" numbers for Xena and Bonanza! Good work Brown coats!

Also ran some analysis on the top 40 nomination list. These shows are currently gaining on the "bottom of the top 40", thus have a shot at making top40:

Space: 1999 is the only show below the "top 10 of the nomination" list to be making progress on the bottom of the top 40. Given they list the top 10 shows on the nomination page that should give it a bit of a boost when it hits top10 of that list. Trapper John will likely make top 40 by the end of January. In any case, I don't see anything here likely to rise to the top5 overall based on current trends.

As an aside, Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood rose 220 positions (it's amazing what going from 1 vote to 3 can do for you ;-).

Try reloading/refreshing the main page before setting any check boxes.

If that doesn't work, delete the browser cache & try again. (rebooting doesn't clear the cache. Cache must be cleared manually)

fedexxx, all the characters are cool in their own way of course but Scorpion is obviosly the coolest. Most of the other characters have one sort of special power Sub-Zero freezes stuff, Shinnok has the big skeletal hand that comes out of the ground, Baraka has the spikes. Scorpion has two powers! He can shoot a spear out of his hand AND breath fire, how cool is that! When I was in preschool I had a friend named Baraka and I would always ask him to make spikes come out of his arms (yes, I played MK when I was 4. My dad kept his old Super Nintendo all these years so we play the original MK). I think I'm gonna start a thread on this whole best MK character thing.

I just noticed something interesting about the total daily vote graph. If you consider Xena, Bonanza, and Firefly, the yellow, blue, and brown lines only, it looks as if (in general) the Xena line leads the other two lines. Look at the graph and mentally scoot the yellow line slightly to the right. The yellow line will line up with the other two better.

The Xena line is likely voted on by people in time zones that are ahead of the blue/brown time zones. Xena fans could be 1/2 to 3/4 of a day "ahead" in their voting, since the votes are tallied in one of the North American time zones.

This observation could support the theory that the Australia and New Zealand votes are the cause of the 1st place position for Xena.

Just speculation.

The vote site has a map showing votes from Auckland and Wellington. I suspect most or all of the votes from Wellington are from sad lonely ol' me down here.... and I am not voting for Xena...

Actually I used to to live in Auckland and a few times my beach walks got interrupted while Xena filmed a chariot chase or some such. Once bumped into Xena & Gab using an ATM machine (in costume!). I admit to having a soft spot for the series. So kitsch :)

Anyways, aren't the votes only tallied once a day so would it matter when they are placed?

The vote site map is only very recent. It would be interesting to see the map made for "just FireFly" to see where the fan-base is geographically.

The speculation is that since the vote is tallied in a timezone offset significantly from the daytime where the votes are cast, things such as weekends can skew the results. If NZ were to cast 0 votes during the day on Saturday (NZ time), Xena's day votes for Friday (tallied in U.S.) would show a leading slump.

The information likely doesn't do any good. It was just an attempt to guess as to why the yellow line looks a bit like it was leading the other lines in time (showing weekend dips).
