Heavy load for a thread to bear.

So bored at work, I lurked the imponderables thread. Nearly posted over there, too, but for the fact that the effort required would have violated loafissitude.

Seryn: hope yer feeling better.

CMS: Don't forget to knit a proper orange toque for the blue-glove hat fellow.

Someone: pass me the remote, would ya? And maybe another pillow?

*Phew*

Gotta relax now. All this typing has been so draining.

yes - i is learning to control my grumpiness - i'll save it all up for someone who deserves it.

I had blue hands yesterday! eviiiiil me...

we were forced to clean shelves (we had work experience girls in, so we we're forced to act as though we gave a ****) but i can't use the dust cloths cause the skin on my hands (not to mention face and any other exposed bits) gets horrendously itchy. so with no white paper towels available - blue it was.

blue hands time! all i needed was a suit and some menacing sunglasses.

Isn't sanity really a one trick pony, anyway? I mean all you get is one trick, rational thinking! But when you're good and crazy...ooh hoo hoo hoo... the skys the limit!

I was wondering when we were going to get a new thread.

Guess what? We had freezing rain last night. Everything's covered in ice, including my car, but excluding the roads, so that's good. It's still raining and it's above freezing now. Didn't stop everyone from freaking out and cancelling or delaying schools. Government employees get to come in late and everything.

And I found out the county has 10 snow plows. 10 for the whole county.

I bet the pomegranate stuff would be good mixed in with fruit juices. Like with cranberry instead of vodka for a version of a cape cod.

I also think it'd be better cold then room temp as I tried it.

Citizen, I need your tech help. I'm trying to use my microphone on my computer. I realized I'd muted it in the control panel. Now I see why. Anytime it's not muted, I get this annoying little whine from the speakers. just a 'eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee' noise. Any thoughts on fixes, other that leaving it muted and only de-muting it when I use it?

Unfortunately, it's not that. The noise continues no matter how far the mic is from the speakers, even if I unplug the mic. the only thing I've found that stops it, is ticking the mute box on Microphone, in advanced sounds and audio devices properties.

Right click on My Computer and select manage from the drop down list. Computer management window should appear, on the left hand side select device manager.

Are there any devices listed with a yellow question mark icon? If so what are they called?

Also what is the make and model of your sound card and microphone? The sound card can be found through the device manager under Sound/video and game controllers or through the sounds and audio devices menu in the control panel if you don't know

Another thought:
in the start menu hit run and type sndvol32.exe into the box to bring up the volume settings.

Go to options and click Advanced controls, also select properties and recording under the adjust volume for panel and hit OK.

Select under microphone should be ticked. There should also be an 'Advanced' button. Hit that. What have you got under other controls? Also if mic boost is selected deselect it.

no expanded tabs by default, but I expanded them all to check for yellow bits, nada. Not sure what my sound card is, I think it's just whatever came with the system, I only upgraded the video card. All the other stuff you mentioned is as it should be. Microphone boost is de-selected, alternate microphone is selected. no other options. the noise continues dispite rather or not these are ticked. Boost, just adds more noise and amplifies.

The C-Media chip apparently has no input filters to remove out of band noise, so they'll pick up a lot of input noise from the system bus and other devices. Apparently ATI graphics cards are particularly 'noisy' (though I've only found this mentioned specifically with ATI-all in wonder cards which includes audio encoding for TV and AV-device input it is mentioned that the ATI chipset itself is somewhat 'noisy'). Another possibillity would be an improperly grounded audio channel, though that would mean a fault in the circuit itself, and I think the unshielded C-Media chip picking up system noise is most likely. About the only way I can think of fixing it would be to replace the sound card, I would think replacing it with a cheap soundblaster or similar would probably get rid of the problem.

one day i'm going to make up the hugest batch of dough (probably chocolate chip cookie dough, nummy) and then roll around in it - just to see what it feels like.

Its more realistic than the idea of me ever having a large disposable income.

Plus - cookie dough tastes much better than bank notes.

I'm still inclined to attempt a rollabout in a chocolate jello bath at the Hyatt. Given the right partners, appropriately "juiced", it could be... amusing.

Any takers?

I've got this image of you now, sitting in a hotel bathroom surrounded by boxes of Jello Instant Pudding and gallons of milk. Tearing open each little bitty package, stirring it all up with a big wooden spoon!

F***. Missed your timely reply as I swim in Lethe. April 15th (14th?) is the premire of DRIVE!, but April 9th? is the release of "Somewhere Else". Studio album 14. They always know where I am and what I need. Plus the Minear stuff, April will be fun. Who knows, by then, there may be more to enjoy.

Serenity,

Who are you again?

Just kidding. I didn't OD. Was just trying a few different things. The pomegranate stuff with the Parrot bay passion fruit, as a shot: Yummy. the two together with coke zero: also yummy.
Also, the inside of the mouth gets very red with the coloring from the pomegranate stuff.
I may try some more experiments tonight. I've got stuff from work today that I don't want to remember.

Very interesting.....
I didn't know there was an unaired pilot for Wonderfalls. Looks like the changed some cast, changed some music, added the 'lunch break/hit myself in the head with a quater scene', also, Eric apparently was more clear than "caught her with the bellman" previously.
I agree that "Lee Pace and Tracie Thoms are so much better as Aaron and Mahandra"

woah! Can't wait to watch that. I knew they replaced Aaron and Mahandra. They recut all the scenes in the trailer when she's had her 'sode and the family was there so that they could fit Lee's shots in.

And the buffy one! I want to see this different Willow!

Jesus Christ could do it, maybe we should book him? He was big on feeding lots of people with loaves and fishes, so Anchovies Pizza should be no problem, it already comes cut up so he'd just have to stretch the slices further. Hey Pizza's even itallian, just like the Roman-Catholic church.

Actually if we could get him that would be great, I've been wanting to talk to him about this idea I've had for ages, Children's parties. I mean JC likes kids right, he could turn tap water in to cola, feed the children with just one piece of birthday cake, sandwiches and crisps and make balloon apostles. Minimal outlay for materials and you'd be able to charge double the cost of a normal clown and caterers, because, you know, Jesus isn't just any ordinary clown, his magic tricks are really good.

I mean I realise he's a bit of a hippy and all that (come on a simple carpenters son who learns to do magic tricks like that and doesn't go in to show business?) so he probably doesn't like the whole commercialisation of Christianity and the cumulation of personal wealth thing, the Catholics have an entirely different take, and after all what they hold true down here God holds true up there. So if Jesus really had a problem with it he could give his cut to the pope. God knows the old fella could do with the money, he hasn't changed his cloths in ages.

Besides, he's the son of God and just think of all those happy little faces of those screaming four year olds when they're handed a piece of Gods own Birthday cake and a buddy Christ statuette ($9.99 extra option parents).
