Now's the time to be thinking about this. Who's going to Dragon Con. Any have you guys heard any rumors on who might be there from our BDH's?

Me and the missus are plannin an evnin to visit her mother. Since she's close to Atlanta we might throw some credit for pre reg and bring SOME strawberry jam. We can't butter everyones biscuts. Don't really know what We'll do when we get there seein as this will be her first con and I've only been to gamer cons. (See Hon. When you get all dressed up and pretty, I'll take you nice places.)
We hope to recognize some of fellow non-conformist browncoats when we get there.

I died my browncoat black for those whom have gone before.

me, me, me! went last yr for the first time and had a ball!! LOTS of browncoats there! going with both dtrs this time. already have tix and hotel. will be driving down from pa.can't wait! haven't heard about any of our bdhs going yet, but alan was there last yr, as was summer.

You'll see folks with lanyards that say Browncoat, Firefly, Serenity. Leather lanyards with Browncoat sayings and of course t-shirts. You'll have no trouble recognizing us. Come up and say HI!!

I'm planning on being there! I'm also excited to say my hubby may be coming with me! Granted he's only doing it cause he doesn't want me going by myself, but I'm just glad he's going is all. I'm so excited to meet everyone and march with the other 76ers. This'll pretty much be my 1st con so it'll be so much fun to experience everything.

Hi Roxy,
You will SOOOO NOT be alone once you get here. But your hubby will be good at getting on line for the BDH panels very early and saving you a seat and bringing food so you don't have to miss anything. I mean that in a nice way, if your hubby has no interest in Dragon*Con and is truly coming just to keep you company he may get pretty bored but the thought is nice.

To be fair to him though, he is a Firefly fan, just not as big a Browncoat as me. He's also a scifi fan, so I think he'll enjoy it, he's just not all hyped up like I am. I'm trying to convince him that I'll be fine and it'll save us so much money if I just go alone (I REALLY want him to go with, but if you could just see the face he makes everytime I mention it, you'd understand). Well, I'm gonna have a great time and if he complains I'll just hand him over to the battalion.

Dragon*Con is over Labor Day weekend, August 31st-September 3rd, in Atlanta. You can check out the website, www.dragoncon.org, although they haven't updated a lot of stuff yet. Yeah...they have tones of Sci-fi/fantasy actors and actresses. It's a four day event. They usually get two or three of the Firefly BDH'S. I hear it is awesome! Hope you can make it. This will be my first.

I think that's a good idea... I vote we put a contest out to the fan artists to design a little badge (say 2x3 inches in size, timeline by May), then we vote (say by July), then we post the winning badge (say by August 1) so that everyone can download it, take it to their local printer/laminator, and wear it around!!!

We like the Marriott Marquis. It's a little quieter than the Hyatt, and is right in the middle of the 3 hotels. The panels/Q&A's are usually in the Hyatt, and the dealer rooms are going to be in the Hilton this year. There will be a lot of folk cutting through the Marriott, so I'd ask for a floor higher up if you need the quiet. The Hyatt is usually considered the party hotel, I believe, with all manor of noise from the lobby into the wee hours. You might want to stay there if you're a partier, and don't mind waiting for an elevator.

And as to coming alone...there are Browncoats EVERYWHERE at D*C. If you think the $150+ a night for the host hotels is going to be too steep for just yourself, you can always advertise for roommates.

I don't see anyone listed yet at the DragonCon website.

Though based on my B3 experience, just getting a bunch of Browncoats together is a recipe for a great time.

Just wait until summer starts. The D*C guest list is updated (what seems like) every day. On her MySpace page, Jewel said that she hadn't been invited yet, although she does love DragonCon. Perhpas anyone who's planning on attending should write (nicely!) to the D*C PTB and ask that they invite ALL of our BDHs?

she'll be at d*c, you can ask her then. ;-) no word on the bdh's yet, but i HAVE heard that jewel will be at moonlight rising. since we're 3 hrs from there, it will be worth it to go meet her. their venue's alot smaller than other cons, more chance of running into your fave. in fact, we were lucky enuff to have camden toy, ken feinberg, and jonathan woodward show up at our little shindig in the wee hours.

Sadly, I'm not coming this year. Although I'm seriously discussing it for the next year.

I've been keeping up on the site about who all is coming...even if the BDH's don't show up, ya'll are going to have such a great time. But I'll bet some of them do.

I'm pretty psyched about Michael Shanks being there! I remain a die hard SG-1 fan. *sigh* LOL

I personally have never attended them, as they tend to go all day and I don't want to be shut up in a room writing for 8 hours straight.

However, it might be a good option if you're serious about your writing and would like to (hopefully) get published. Having professional writers critique your work could only be beneficial.

But yes, I will be going. This time, without a wife (those of you that know will get a smile out of that one )

I'll be marching proudly with the rest of the members of the 76th.
I will also be carousing with the other gods that will be making a show there one night.
Beyond that, I will be enjoying every possible moment in the company of my Browncoat family!

There has been a request from one of the DragonCon people to NOT bog down their emails with requests for guest appearances (as email is about the only way D*C people have to commuicate with each other). He said that sometimes a guest will get blacklisted, so that all emails get trashed. He asks that fans write via snail-mail with guest requests. The address is:
