Hey Causal, thanks for the heads up. Can you believe that moron from Bonanza has referred to YOU as the “lurker”. If there is one thing I can’t stand, it is a hypocrite. I don’t mind if anyone is checking in on us from time to time, but they should have the good sense not to attack one of our fellow Browncoats for doing exactly the same thing. So to our little “visitor” from Bonanza, I promise you that we’ll give you an extra little wave as we pass you by.

Where did you see that? Wasn't able to find that on any of the Bonanza boards I've looked at. Could you tell me where you saw that? I'd like to pop in and post a bit.

On a related note, I've tried to keep my comments about Bonanza fans nice and civilized. We're not actually going to win anything other than pride if/when we pass them up, so I think it's in our best interest to be civil. Firefly fans have had a rather tarnished reputation, and I don't want to add any fuel to the fire. So lurk over on their boards all you want, and post things from there here all you want (as I'm sure they'll be doing) but I'd encourage us all to stay good and sportsman like.

It's hard to tell from the chart, but we actually are much more likely to pass pass Bonanza before Bonanza passes Xena. If you look at Flattop's post of recent numbers:

Suggests that if the voting records of the past week hold up, we would pass Bonanza in about 103 days, 3 months 12 days. We'd be passing Xena in about 134 days, 4 months 12 days. Lately we've been gaining votes faster than the other two shows, so I'd be pretty comfortable saying we are at about 3 months to passing Bonanza and 4 months to passing Xena, perhaps less if we continue to build enthusiasm.

(I use 30.4 days per month as an average month, then round to even days, in case anyone wonders how I came up with those odd number above)

The charts are correct, but to figure the "Time to intercept" you need the following equations (appologies for the cluge, this is text, not matlab):

How many votes did each show get?

There had been some attempt here to get a nomination drive running for the "yet to premier" TV series Drive. While we had reached the conclusion TV Vote was not accepting nominations until the first episode would air, here's "the word" confirming it...

Oh, and we only accept votes for TV shows that are currently or have
been on the air. Shows that have not yet appeared are ignored until
they start up. I mention this because we have gotten some votes
recently for the new Tim Minear (Angel, Wonderfalls, etc) produced
show, Drive, but the first episode has not been telecast so they didn't
get counted.

I will be watching for this one on Fox as a Minear fan (he actually
started as a story editor on X-Files), but it's a little premature to
decide if Drive is one of the Best Shows of All Time.

Really if there are other boards on which this can be mentioned it would definitely be a benefit.

Perhaps persuade some of the same voters that voted when Whedonesque pushed to use FlyVote. I'm sure that some of those fans voted once, then forgot about it. If you put FlyVote in your startup (Windows), then it is there for you every time you turn on your machine. Perhaps Whedonesque would run a story that there is a program made just for Firefly voting.

Even people on this board in other threads could be reminded to vote. Point to FlyVote as a way to make it easier to remember.

I agree that we need to spread the word, and flyvote is a good selling point. I know The Signal runs a guerilla marketing segment every show (or at least they used to, haven't listening since early second season), that'd be a great place for it to be mentioned. FireflyTalk might also be willingly to give it at least a few seconds of time.

I've had a great success over on the Scifi.com Firefly boards getting people to vote, hell they found Flyvote before I could even tell 'em about it. Does anyone else go to any other Firefly boards? I know the Serenitybrowncoats board has a thread for it, but no one seems to care much about it and it definitely doesn't get a lot of bump-age. What about the Canadian Browncoats? Anything? Any other boards we can spread the word to?

It's all relative.

If we downloaded the results at exactly the same time every day, there
would be exactly 24 hours worth of votes reflected in the totals, but
we don't. Sometimes we wake up early, sometimes we show up late but we
are pretty regular considering our 24/7 365 day a year schedule.
Tomorrow's vote will be smaller than it might have been by today's
delay, but those missing votes were already included in today's total
so there's really no difference in the long run.

And we are in it for the long run.

This might explain the 1200 of today. The stat's were -very- late... well, relative to Friday. So todays' results includes a few more hours of voting than yesterday. While Rich is right, in the long run it all "balances" out, except... we tend to do all the stats assuming all days are equal. So.. if tomorrow's numbers are a bit low, don't be surprised.

For those of you who don't know what speech Morena is referring to, I took the liberty of registering at one of the main Bonanza boards. Since I was the one who posted the comment from their boards that got them all fired up, I decided that a few kind words would not go amiss (/shameless quote mangle). Man, I don't check in for one afternoon and I miss all the fun.

Casual, you are a brave, brave man and you know what? Perhaps you should run for office!

I'm not sure whether we oughta continue counting the over 1000 streak or not. The two days do average over 1000 together and even labonte admitted to merging the days a bit. Hopefully it'll be a non-issue though. I'd like to see our daily vote count keep rising to where just over 1000 isn't a big deal.

Also, HOORAY FOR BREAKING 125K!!!!!!! Who won the pool? I know I missed in the pool by a few days.

We're lexxians, we like everything lexxy, because we love Lexx :) I don't think we use any other words with lexx in them.

I think Lexxians are producing even more votes for Firefly than before, we are very grateful for the programme. Also I think you should count this day as a 1000+ because the average sum of the two merged days is over 2000. If memory serves, a week ago (or so) Bonanza had the slide-show on the little TV, followed the next day by Firefly.

This time Firefly made another 5k, earned the TV spot a day before Bonanza (and Xena).

Did I remember that right?

Morning has come and gone here in the Southern Hemisphere

It's time for me to go home, but happy voting to the rest of you!

Don't you think that with our rising numbers another quick voting campaign, similar to the December 1st campaign, will bring positive results?

Something like:

"Show your love on Valentines Day!"

Aim:

1. To get 160 000 votes by 14 February.
2. To get 2000 votes ON Valentines Day.

We can then get someone (someone NOT me) to do a nice love based banner, and spread the cheer!

(I generally HATE Valentine's day and need something to make the day more bearable.......)

A whole week of 1000 plus days! Thats amazing. If we pulled in that many on a weekend I can't wait to see how much we can throw in today! 1500 HERE WE COME!!!!!!!

On a calmer note...I'm not sure if Canter's Valentine's day vote campaign is a good idea. While I agree that we should try to organize another big vote day, I don't think we should plan it for a holiday. I know many people will have plans with their loved ones that will (and surely should) take presidence over voting. Just a thought.
