Actual ground has yet to appear. When a total accumulation of about five feet has just been sitting in sub-zero temperatures for awhile, it doesn't go away very quickly. All we've gotten so far is a bit of melting of the solid ice on the roads, which has then become thinner, slicker ice when it goes below freezing again at night. And it's supposed to snow again on Saturday.
But when all this melts? Damn will it be green and pretty here!

Yes Penguin, five feet. None of it's melted, you see, so it's just built up. There are huge banks of ice on either side of my car where the plow guys decided to dump it. I've been getting very good at parallel parking and I hate it. I have been lovingly calling it "that damn frozen white stuff" and secretly shooting deathglares at everyone who's complained about their mild winter and wishing I could dump them in the seven-foot-high plowbank on the side of the highway I take to work.
Okay, not really.
Well, maybe. A little bit.
I'm really tired of the damn frozen white stuff.

and I love it when my hours of tinkering in photoshop pay off! (doesn't look like it took that long, does it? The problem with matching a pre-existing font is that it takes some tweaking. It took about two hours, I'd say. I always lose track of the exact time, though.)
You know I always like to be doing something, though. I luv messing with banners and avatars! And I need a new vision for either songart or Fireflyart. My muse took a little vacation. I bet she went somewhere warm, too

Shipping on that is going to be really high. You know what? I'll just give you a picture. Now this was taken right after the first storm, but very little has changed, except here it looks soft and pretty rather than hard and crusty and frozen.

Don't let the pretty blue sky fool you. It was cold as the Cocytus out. It was less than four days before it snowed again. And then it snowed again four days later. In fact, it's been almost exactly following my work schedule. Ugh!

Well, as I've posted before I love it here. Sure, it's dirty and crowded in the city and people can be grouchy and the traffic is *awful* (modern populations do *not* blend well with medieval road layouts!) but it's got eons of history, loads of great cultural places, an atmosphere you'll never get anywhere else and, generally speaking, the weather and wildlife are unlikely to kill you. I think that last trait is vastly underrated in a country.

Scientist Develops Caffeinated Doughnuts

DURHAM. N.C. (AP) -- That cup of coffee just not getting it done anymore? How about a Buzz Donut or a Buzzed Bagel? That's what Doctor Robert Bohannon, a Durham, North Carolina, molecular scientist, has come up with. Bohannon says he's developed a way to add caffeine to baked goods, without the bitter taste of caffeine. Each piece of pastry is the equivalent of about two cups of coffee.

While the product is not on the market yet, Bohannon has approached some heavyweight companies, including Krispy Kreme, Dunkin' Donuts and Starbucks about carrying it.

Poor Nico - I know just how you feel >. I burn after only 5 minutes in the sun. A doctor once tols me that I'm allergic to uv rays..if you have some handy, try using aloe..it will help.

I've been using all sorts of useful stuff to help lessen the pain (and potential peeling) of the sunburn. It seems my resistance to sunlight has gone down recently, which isn't good when you consider that sunny days are one of the big selling points of this country.

Don't overdo the cleansing or you'll find out what purge and purgatory have as a root meaning.

You can also really throw your pH and electrolytes off which is just as bad, if not worse than, the nasties you're trying to ditch.

I have a friend who swears by nettle tea as a tonic and detoxificant (is that a real word?).

Um, as long as it lasts? It's supposed to be done for 14-21 days to be sure everything is dead, but can go longer than that if the symptoms continue. I seem to be over the symptoms, so I'll just take the herbs for another week as insurance and then I should be fine. And happy happy joy joy we found some capsules! PR: Congrats on the warm weather! I'm surprised the whole state of Colorado didn't go into shock. Did it last?

For all you east coast folks my boyfriend works at NOAA (not as a scientist but he keeps their computers running) and word has it that this summer is supposed to be one of the hottest on record. Maybe I'll stop bitching about the cold now. LOL! Doubt it!

Need wakey, you say? Can do.

*Ransacks the ThinkGeek caffeine section for stuff and swings into action.*

First, we need to remove any possible morning breath. To do that, we'll employ numerous mints.

Next, that coffee just isn't strong enough, so we'll add some extra kick to it. Would you prefer powder or flavoured syrup in that coffee?

Finally, some stuff for you to munch on as you go about your work.

My day was typical ,I'm very tired ,as I didn't sleep well last night & still had this whole day to get through.And it isn't even over yet ,I still have to put the boys down for sleep soon.Then husbands waking up to have dinner & go off to work.THEN< I can pass out ! Sorry, to hear that you didn't get much sleep last night. It always puts me in a cranky mood when I don't get a good nights sleep. It sounds like the worse part of your day is still to come. Putting kiddos to sleep is usually a very tiring event. I hope they don't give you too much trouble.

It does seem odd to be on here so early. Usually it's around 10 or 11 PM here before I get a chance to sign on. It's nice to actually have you around when I stop by the Bar and Grill.

Got to work, signed on to my favorite computer, fuse blew in the office. Called three different people to find out where the fuse box was, hiked around the building so I could unlock the door to the warehouse, got SNOW IN MY SHOES, finally got to fusebox... Locked.

WHAT KIND OF TERMINALLY RIDICULOUSLY STUPID PEOPLE LOCK A FUSE BOX?!?!?!?

So, I'm on a comp out in the main building. It's cold out here and the comp is kinda slow. Doom.
