The thread at http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=2&t=26632 was starting to get lengthy, so I figured it was time for a new one. Plus it's yet another excuse to show off the modified banner that Rose worked on for me.
Thanks for this shin gan!

DTH - Yup, the game was over so fast they could (and possibly should) have played a second game to fill in the time. Which has happened before, and at the same ground funnily enough.
Rose - Does this mean you might get to see the actual ground, and not just the snow/ice?

Actual ground has yet to appear. When a total accumulation of about five feet has just been sitting in sub-zero temperatures for awhile, it doesn't go away very quickly. All we've gotten so far is a bit of melting of the solid ice on the roads, which has then become thinner, slicker ice when it goes below freezing again at night. And it's supposed to snow again on Saturday.
But when all this melts? Damn will it be green and pretty here!

My coffee pot (poor old thing) is just warming up, so I'll have to settle for some virtual liquid refreshment.

PR, I love Nico's new banner. Great work!
LA, I know it is colder in NY than it is here in DC, but this is our coldest morning of the season. 15 degrees! My poor truck Dora just didn't want to go this morning, and I don't blame her!

Yes Penguin, five feet. None of it's melted, you see, so it's just built up. There are huge banks of ice on either side of my car where the plow guys decided to dump it. I've been getting very good at parallel parking and I hate it. I have been lovingly calling it "that damn frozen white stuff" and secretly shooting deathglares at everyone who's complained about their mild winter and wishing I could dump them in the seven-foot-high plowbank on the side of the highway I take to work.
Okay, not really.
Well, maybe. A little bit.
I'm really tired of the damn frozen white stuff.
and I love it when my hours of tinkering in photoshop pay off! (doesn't look like it took that long, does it? The problem with matching a pre-existing font is that it takes some tweaking. It took about two hours, I'd say. I always lose track of the exact time, though.)
You know I always like to be doing something, though. I luv messing with banners and avatars! And I need a new vision for either songart or Fireflyart. My muse took a little vacation. I bet she went somewhere warm, too

*packs a large cooler full of snow to send to DTH*
Shipping on that is going to be really high. You know what? I'll just give you a picture. Now this was taken right after the first storm, but very little has changed, except here it looks soft and pretty rather than hard and crusty and frozen.

Don't let the pretty blue sky fool you. It was cold as the Cocytus out. It was less than four days before it snowed again. And then it snowed again four days later. In fact, it's been almost exactly following my work schedule. Ugh!

Well, as I've posted before I love it here. Sure, it's dirty and crowded in the city and people can be grouchy and the traffic is *awful* (modern populations do *not* blend well with medieval road layouts!) but it's got eons of history, loads of great cultural places, an atmosphere you'll never get anywhere else and, generally speaking, the weather and wildlife are unlikely to kill you. I think that last trait is vastly underrated in a country.
Okay, I'm *really* late! See you all soon! *hugs board*

IMPORTANT NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Scientist Develops Caffeinated Doughnuts
DURHAM. N.C. (AP) -- That cup of coffee just not getting it done anymore? How about a Buzz Donut or a Buzzed Bagel? That's what Doctor Robert Bohannon, a Durham, North Carolina, molecular scientist, has come up with. Bohannon says he's developed a way to add caffeine to baked goods, without the bitter taste of caffeine. Each piece of pastry is the equivalent of about two cups of coffee.
While the product is not on the market yet, Bohannon has approached some heavyweight companies, including Krispy Kreme, Dunkin' Donuts and Starbucks about carrying it.

Gonna go with 'No' on that.
Been cleansing and miserable for more than a week now.
Yesterday I did the liver cleanse and felt like I was gonna throw up for hours.
Last night my ex found me on myspace. I'm his biggest regret and his one true love and he would do anything to have me in his life again

Seems the cleanse is extending to my personal life as well. I just want to

As far as the cleansing goes..just keep in mind how much better you'll feel when it's over and done with...in the meantime - the chammomile should help soothe your nerves & tummy too !

Yes, this is the ex of doom. Soooo much doom.
Wrote him back. Probably shouldn't have, but you know it's been a year and I really don't care anymore, so I basically said "Right, thanks for the apology and I hope you learn from your mistakes and appreciate the next good thing that comes along. Have a nice life." I was a bit more eloquent than that, but that's the gist. Felt pretty good, actually. Just one more toxin out of my system.
And yeah, I think the 'my ex is happy! must rock the boat!' radar went off
Thank you for the tea

Don't overdo the cleansing or you'll find out what purge and purgatory have as a root meaning.
You can also really throw your pH and electrolytes off which is just as bad, if not worse than, the nasties you're trying to ditch.

Um, as long as it lasts? It's supposed to be done for 14-21 days to be sure everything is dead, but can go longer than that if the symptoms continue. I seem to be over the symptoms, so I'll just take the herbs for another week as insurance and then I should be fine. And happy happy joy joy we found some capsules! That means no more of the nasty taste!

I feel so much better about my habit now! Thank you.
You know, somebody is probably trying to figure out a way to mainline it without killing yourself.
We're getting snow now. The lakes (Lakes) are so warm I'm convinced we're gonna get SLAMMED in February and March.

Well, we'll just have to prepare for a good year for tomatoes, peppers, and eggplants, right?
Watermelon..good year for watermelon!

It's cold and rainy here. I need a big glass of wine to drink in this comfy chair by the fire.

NOTIFY: Y | REPLY | REPLY WITH QUOTE | PERMALINK | TOP | HOME
I'd bring you the wine VE -but do you want red or white ?
LA29 helps herself to a small glass of red wine to take away some of this chill..and then goes to sit by the fire..toasty warm goodness.

afternoon drinkers.
RAWR @ the site's being down all day, even though I am still in the middle of group project work anyhow.
You ladies enjoy your wine, it is one of the 2 things I prefer not to drink (along with gin). I think I will have a whiskey sour and wander about until it is time for job #2.

LA, RIMG, and JQ, it is really quiet today. It's funny how some days are hard to keep up with all of the posts, and other days there are very few Browncoats around.

Sorry, to hear that you didn't get much sleep last night. It always puts me in a cranky mood when I don't get a good nights sleep. It sounds like the worse part of your day is still to come. Putting kiddos to sleep is usually a very tiring event. I hope they don't give you too much trouble.
It does seem odd to be on here so early. Usually it's around 10 or 11 PM here before I get a chance to sign on. It's nice to actually have you around when I stop by the Bar and Grill.

I'm so happy to get a chance to say i to you !
I'm very blessed that my boys go down to sleep very easily.I rarely have any trouble there. They just wake up at dawn ,no mater how late they go to bed !
After school/dinnertime is the hard part..
La29 refills her wine glass.
VE , would you like some more too ?

Oh yes the space monkeys are indeed asleep.Husband left for work a few minutes ago , and all is quiet here ..
I'm going to finish my wine & go pass out ,so I can start it all again before dawn
I so need a vacation , can I hide in your suitcase when you go to Austrailia ? Pretty please ?
Anyway , I hope you have a shiny night tonight. And that I'll see you here again very soon

Got to work, signed on to my favorite computer, fuse blew in the office. Called three different people to find out where the fuse box was, hiked around the building so I could unlock the door to the warehouse, got SNOW IN MY SHOES, finally got to fusebox... Locked.
WHAT KIND OF TERMINALLY RIDICULOUSLY STUPID PEOPLE LOCK A FUSE BOX?!?!?!?
So, I'm on a comp out in the main building. It's cold out here and the comp is kinda slow. Doom.
Very glad the site is up and running again. Thought I would go maaaaaad last night.
