My bad day (topped with a trip to the dentist) just got exponentially better.

I was a little trepidatious about the song choice in regards to how palatable it might be. I love it, and amazingly still love it after having listened to it a bajillion times during the editing process :P

That's some pretty fancy editing you did there. And, you did one of the things I think is sorely missing from most fanvids: integrated the dialogue. Very nice work.

I don't think I've done a single vid that didn't have integrated dialogue. I don't know if it was ever something I consciously decided to do from the moment I'd decided to start vidding several years ago, but there are moments, even in the vids where there are lyrics, even if not originally planned, spoke to me of a need for dialogue.

I think, though, that this might be the first vid where I relied heavily on the context of the scenes within the show, whereas before I would strive for the opposite: to use only what was conveyed visually out of context of the show (did that make sense?).

But this time, the broadwave, Mal's wordless "I am" as he realizes and admits that he's willing to die for his belief, Book's wordless "Belief" as he tells Mal it's the only way he's going to get through his situation, etc... some of that meaning is lost without the context of the movie itself.

yeah, there's that, it's quite embarrasing! I'm hoping this summer I'll have time to sit down and actually make it a proper website (with pictures and everything!), but for now it's just the basic deal. Everything works, but it's just not pretty.

Just click on the Fanvids file/link and that's where all the Firefly/Serenity vids are. Right-click and Save-as.

I also re-upped it cuz I wanted to tell you ( since I'm an unabashed fangirl of yours! ) that when my comp went down and I got a new one.. I didn't put my office stuff on it first... I downloaded all your vids, thus my new computer felt like "home".

Sometimes (most of the time!) I feel like I'm talking to myself, and am not the one to go on and on when no one cares to hear --read: lack of response one way or another, or monosyllabic, which doesn't lend itself making me gush like the geek I am. At the suggestion of a wonderful beta who's been with me since (almost?) the beginning of my vidding days suggested that using a clip of Kaylee, someone who represented hope and unconditional love, should be used instead. And so I did, and it worked (I used the clip where she kisses him and tells him "I love my Captain"), but even after sitting on that for several renderings and getting more familiar with it, I ultimately switched back to River.

Because I secretly hate Kaylee. She stole Simon from me

I still owe my beta a version with the Kaylee :P

One of these days, I'm going to find the perfect song to make a Simon/Inara vid. Maybe by the time I do, there'll be more Firefly/Serenity to work with *adjusts rose-coloured glasses*

But perhaps in the meantime I'll mull some more on doing a Simon-vid to Marc Cohn's "Medicine Man". Simon needs some vid-love. Or maybe I'll eventually get back to the first idea I ever had of a Mal/Inara vid to Portishead's "Roads"... Not enough time!
