The BEST death scene ever

In last nights Angel Fred's last moments were the best death scene I have ever scene in television or for that matter the movies as well. Just her last words sealed it for me.

"Why can't I stay?"

That is my new favorite line from buffy and/or angel and/or firefly.

Feel free to disagree, but that was freaking awesome.

You know you only have to scare him...

It took so long I thought he just died of old age at the end. I'd have to say that Leon in The Professional (Jean Reno) has the best death scene.

Totally agree with you. Sean Bean does an awesome job with the whole death scene. We can see the change in his character thoroughly - from possessed by the ring, to realizing the ring was calling to him, to him giving his life for Merry and Pippin - very awesome sequence.

While we're on the subject - the undisputed *worst* death scene ever was Trinity in Revolutions. Just when you think she's dead, "Oh, and Neo - remember what I said...in my...other death scene...you don't?...I'll...tell you...again..."
Man, was that awful. Terrible, terrible movie.

As much as I feel no one is going to agree with this, I think the best death scene was In Dungeonsa nd Dragons when they killed snails.

IT wasnt long and drawn out.

It wasnt corny.
They killed snails like people die in war, one moment hes there and the next hes not, and Ridly was so close, he wished he could have done somthin... he was just feet away.

Oh God, are you serious? Man, I rented that movie with some friends many years ago - we were real bored - and it was truly one of the FUNNIEST MOVIES EVER!! ...but only because we were cracking on it the whole time. Terrible film!

Damn, was that a bad movie.

Hey, how about "Best Almost Death Scene"? I'd have to say that the scene in 3/17 of Angel when Angel snaps like a rubber band on Wesley for taking Conner and tries to smother him in his hospital bed. Nowhere in the history of Angel before or since, even as Angelus, has he just lost it like that. I had to watch it several more times to absorb it, foaming mouth and all.

Okay, I'm going to totally geek out here and say that the best death scene goes to Leonard Nemoy in "The Wrath of Khan", as thousands of devoted fans went numb with the shock that Spock had died. Even though they did bring him back, it still kills me to watch.

I really liked that scene too...you almost dont see it coming. And i think i probably would have done it the same too.

Guys, guys, guys.... come on now!

Roy Baty's death in "Blade Runner" is the best death scene ever. Being as we're (mostly) all SciFi geeks I can't believe everybody missed that one!

Actually there are several good death scenes in that movie... Of course it's probably the best SciFi movie that's ever been made.

(Just my personal opinion. ;)

Oh, that is a great one. Although it didn't emotionally drain me, he definitely gets greatest death monologue, hands down. Especially considering that Rutger Hauer wrote it himself. Nice.

A little consideration for people who haven't seen that episode yet would have gone a very long way. Intelligent use of the "spoiler" option (especially after people have suggested you use it) might have been the decent thing to do. Guess you missed that one too.

Having said that all, I would probably have agreed with you after seeing it, if I hadn't already known it was going to happen!!!!

Well, the best death scene EVER is no contest, though. Definatly Mel Gibson as William Wallace in 'Braveheart' gets this award.

I thought the death of Alex Krychek on "The X-Files" was probably the worst death scene I've ever seen. I still have no idea what he was talking about. I'm not sure what the best was, although the death of Darla on "Angel" is up there.

Bruce Willis in "Armageddon"

Donald Sutherland in "Space Cowboys"

And of course, Tracy's death scene in "The Message" chokes me up every time.
