Awwwwwesome shot, DM!

Technically, it's an Ermine, but that is indeed a type of ferret. It's a totem of mine.

Thanks, I took it while visiting my sister in NYC a while back. We were goofing off (runs in the family). I've been saving it for a firstie.

I didn't know a ferret (or ermine as it were) could be a totem. Is traditional for a specific tribe or am I completely off base here?

You're a bit off base. Totems don't have to be tribal (though I do have a hint of Cree in my blood, I don't claim to be a Native American) and are more often personal. They're animal manifestations that help you see the shape of your spirit and who you are and what your life is like, etc. I have many many personal totems, and they're all just aspects of me, I know, but it's nice to have a symbol for some of them, which I do. I find it helpful. And a personal totem can be anything. Anything at all. One of mine (act surprised now!) is a phoenix. I have sought out the totems for all my chakras and also for areas of my life. The Ermine is my love totem, which I think is fitting in a lot of ways. And it's cute!

I'd post pictures of all my totems, but that's not the kind of picture thread this is. And there are a lot of them. 'Twould flood.

That help I hope?

I'll try not to be to surprised at the phoenix. Yea it helps. I knew what a totem was but like too many people I here anything spiritual and automatically try to associate it with an organized religion and not a personal experience which is what many things spiritual are: personal. Maybe next picture thread you could post some more of your totems, if its not, you know, too personal.

Glad I could clarify Yeah, you'll find organized religion and I rarely cross paths. I mix and match to suit myself. Any really really organized, single-religion group would toss me out on my ass, which is fine with me, because I think it should be personal anyway.
Heh, I love when these threads just go in random directions!
Totem pictures? Sure, why not? I don't have that many little models of them, but I have found pics of all of them.

Some of my favorites:

Sorry if it's a flood; if anyone minds I can take it down.

Are you a masochist? Yeesh.

Well, it was the end of high school party, decided on about two minutes after the church service. Wasn't much time to prep.
Anyways, we arrived at the par-tay with only a bottle of tequila (mine) and a bottle of champagne (his). My mate insisted we start in on the champagne as we both agreed it's better to not start drinking on tequila.. Now at this point, I'd like to state that I have absolutely no idea why my friend, who's taste in drinks mirrors my own, was in possession of champagne.
So we start in on the good stuff when the champagne is is empty (shared around, not just betwen the two of us).

Then things go screwy. At some point I fell/jumped off a 6 foot ledge in the dark, cutting my knees and hand open all bloody like, has tequila spat in my eye (a point to never give tequila to someone who's never had it and then stand in front of them...) and lost my glasses.

They were found two weeks later, and a case of the finest brew was promptly delivered to the person as the promised finders fee.

I meant to have new pics here. I ended up cleaning rather than going out for pictures. I might go correct that now, but I should try to sleep instead. Why do I think for some odd reason I won't be sleeping?

I like it, Dano. Stereotypical myspace pics suit you just as well as all the other types

I just walked around for an hour, and less than half the pics I took come out; lots of tops of trees and washed out by sunlight going on.
Anything usable was pounced upon.
Basically, y'all are getting flooded.
First, some pictures of (part of) the room I spent my morning cleaning, and the little totem-y objects therein. Just cuz. I have them.

(this was an eagle, but I painted it)

And now, the pictures of the gorgeous day and the full-blooming trees!

For thease I put the camera in the tree. I wish more of them had come out well, cuz I really like the way it looks. My purple sunglasses sneak in; meant to take all the pics in them, but I got lazy (they're what I'm wearing inthe above pics, but I dunno if you can really tell)

And my really green lawn and budding maple tree

There we go. Maybe I'll be able to get some sleep now? *hopes*

Yay Melee!! It is so good to see you! I love getting to know the folk who have been here for ever... I have not yet been a browncoat for a year - and already this is my home and has been for months!!

And may I say WOW!! That new headshot is totally gorgeous - I glanced at it and thought "Gee... Michelle Tratchenberg is growing up and becomeing a stunning young woman..." and then I did a double take!! It is so good to meet you!!

Hi all - I have had a lovely weekend with friends in the country and attending the marriage of two of my best friends!!

And they were just gorgeous and radiant and... the groom cried... (and so did I... but that's pretty ordinary these days... )

I wore my totally wonderful Kaylee-jacket (a gift from my totally wonderful Kaylee-clone, VerseExplorer)...

I stripped off a little too much actually after about a bottle of champagne and a few dances... Nutbush City Limits is always a good one when you are wearing high heels and your bra is showing more than your sleeveless dress!!!

He he he he... a good night was had by all though!

I was so very sleepy afterwards though!

Oh, look at the pretties!

Pictures of me and my cousin should go here, but I haven't had the time/energy to get them all uploaded, or even off the camera. She's so exhausting! I don't know how my aunt keeps up with her. I don't know how any parent keeps up with their kid!

Phew! What a weekend!

Had my brother's 21st birthday par-tay, and needless to say, alchohol was consumed (in copious amounts), and hijinks ensued.

Photo's were naturally taken, and ths being a picture thread, well, you know..

This gentleman on the right is my brother. He is a tool.

It was a Back to School theme, hence us looking like doofus's and my lack of manly and winsome-ness.

Yep! As far as I know, everyone in the family (both sides) has blue eyes. Even my brother has blue eyes, and his dad was very dark. He got a lot of his dad's features, and his dark hair, but he got my mom's blue-green eyes, and so did I.
Actually, my cousin Emerson might have dark eyes, but he got those from his dad, not my aunt.

As promised, many pics were taken at the wedding and following shindig. Here's a mere handful of them, with explanations where possible.

This was the view from our accommodation. It seems nice, except that with my genetic traits and subcultural choices, beaches and I do not mix.

Me, my sister, cousin Amanda, cousin Josh

The bride and groom, plus the bride's family

Dad, my sister and me (and yes, I wore my HoB suit to the wedding, but swapped the gloves for a 76th unit crest pin)

Me, Uncle Harry (multitasking drinks), and my sister

My sis, the bride and m'self

My sis, cousin Amanda (who was the matron of honour) and m'self (note a pattern here?)

Dad and his siblings (including the mother of the bride), aka Generation 1

The bride and her siblings and cousins, aka Generation 2 (except for the youngest in the pic, who's sitting on her mother's knee).

Nico - excellent pics, the beach looks beautiful, and everyone in your family looks like they had a good time (any chance your sister or cousin want to come to the US when you do? ). That 76th pin looks damn good on your suit there too.

As for those who've been freaked out by the spider, here's a shot of me that I'm rather proud of (obviously I'm not talking about the unflattering double chin!), considering that two years ago I had to go and stay with a friend for the weekend because there was a spider in the hallway.

Would you tell me, please which way I ought to walk from here?"
"That depends a good deal on where you want to get to," said the Cat.
"I don't much care where," Alice added as an explanation.
"Oh, you're sure to do that," said the Cat, "if you only walk long enough."

It's nice to be thought of as intelligent. And rare with this group; brains abound. Although you might just consider me intelligent from my choice of pouncing victim. Fortunately, I am just the right amount of shallow not to care.

Yeah, what gives with all these strong women characters I'm s'posed to see here? Especially, once skittish kitty who in one breath intimates men are all p*ssies and in the next runs shrieking from the sight of a wee spider. But she's certainly not alone in that...I'm enjoying your wildlife.

I think I might have phrased that last a little better.

You gotta tell me your secret! Cause, seriously, I'm having issues just looking at that pic.
