Another completely retarded thread about Nathan Fillion (inspired by a dream I had last night)

In the dream, I was part of some group (semi-social, semi-something else I don't understand) which led me to be in regular contact with Nathan, who was apparently only well known to some of us. I wasn't the only one crushing on him, either. There was another woman there with clear designs on him (FutureMrs.Fillion??FollowMal?? J/K) and he seemed more than a little embarassed about the attention. I tried to appear less obvious, and he ended up talking more to me than her, without understanding (I assume) that I liked him, too.

The whole thing was completely high school/soap opera-y, and kinda dull but what the hell. Any dream in which Nathan appears is fine by me .

Anyway, don't have the faintest where it came from, but I was thinking about it again (and again) this morning while looking at Whedonesque, which incidentally had a link to a mini-interview with Nathan, which only led to more goosebumps.

It's hard to explain, but I am really weirded out by this crushing business. See, I used to watch One Life to Live at the time Nathan was on. I thought he was cute, and by far my favorite actor in that role, but never thought much about him beyond that. I did however have serious doubts about accepting "Joey Buchanan" as the lead in a sci-fi western, even though it was created by the object of my undying worship, Joss Whedon. Since FIREFLY, well since coming to know more about Nathan the person because of FIREFLY, I have found myself with a severe crush (as you know by now) I once thought belonged soley to Joss.

WTF???!!!!

For this, I choose to blame them both.

Joss, for hiring him. Nathan, for being himself. Even his parents, for making him so gorram adorable. The full-page article in TV Guide (in which he admitted to dorkily taking pictures of himself around the LOST set) didn't help, and neither did the mini-interview I read this morning, in which he was asked about all his favorite desserts/candy being chocolate, chocolate, chocolate (weird thing to obsess about, I know, but it's something we really have in common).

I'm there with you. Crushes are silly, and normally I'll have nothing to do with them! But Nathan defies silliness and reason. He's just crush-able. *sigh*

I recently discovered that I could have a crush on Jon Stewart too, after seeing him on Moyers last Friday. What is it about an intelligent, passionate, modest man with an excellent sense of humor? I just can't break free LOL!

Drew Goddard is an admittedly obsessed Buffy fan who became a writer in the final season, then wrote for Angel's final season, then moved on to two other favorite shows of mine, Alias and now, Lost.

He's made countless fanboy-statements that have eerily mirrored my own feelings (or what I would've felt in a similar situation) about the shows. According to the SERENITY commentary, Joss went to him for advice on some things while writing it.

Hey, don't worry about it. The night after Drive was cancelled, I dreamed that I met up with Nathan (which I actually did last year ) and told him I was sorry to hear about his latest cancellation. He said thank you and we indulged in Fox-y commiserations over a drink. Can't remember much more than that, but I think one of us mentioned how easily we could be brothers....

....but I haven't dreamed about River in months. What the gui.

FutureMrsFillion:Of course that's true! Believe me, I do not want this crush. Nothing against Nathan at all, but I was perfectly content with my Joss-y feelings!!! Here where I live, and otherwise. As far as I was concerned, he was the 'perfect man'. The kind I thought couldn't possibly exist (I'm really picky). So, of course he's taken...and I'm completely wrong for him anyway (story of my life).

So, even though I know it's not really true, I feel like this crush on Nathan is beyond my control. It's happening even in my subconscious for crying out loud!!!

So when you and Nathan were talking in your dream, did he happen to mention me? And how cute I was? And how he wants to ask me to the prom? Huh? Huh? Oh, wait, I guess that qualifies as MY fantasy ....Nevermind.
Just relax and go with the crushing. The obsession is kind of like Saffon's goodnight kiss--it'll wear off in time. I was totally macking on Johnny Depp for awhile--it really seemed as if we were living parallel lives with the exception of him being really talented. And rich. And living in France. Okay, we had nothing in common except that we're both Geminis. At any rate, my obsessive viewing of all of his movies did get me through a rough period in my life and he'll always have a special place in my heart because of it.
To paraphrase Mal in "Jaynestown", it ain't really about Nathan, it's about what you need.

Yep, it's definitely about something I need. Specifically, a really good man that's kind, respects all women, makes me laugh, makes me think, that's fun to be around, and loves animals as much as I do, shares my love for the Jossverse (or at least respects my love for it)...etc. Someone who just "gets" me. Apparently he doesn't live where I do, so I kinda have to fantasize.

Cheer up, J, he's out there, somewhere, waitin' on you. You just gotta use your noggin to track him to his lair. Now if someone like Joss or Nathan were to make their residence in your town, where would they be most likely to hang out at? Besides bein' trussed up in your basement or attic, that is If your town doesn't offer any likely prospects, you'll have to conduct your man hunt in the next likely berg or maybe a big city with a Firefly convention. Just remember to bring a big ole net.

I'd be willing to guess that someone like Joss or Nathan would be hanging out at a comic book store (Joss) or a bar (either, I'm guessing), neither of which is my cup of tea. I've heard Joss hangs out at Starbucks a lot (which I love, when I can afford it) but ends up leaving when he gets recognized.

well... as obsessions, hobbies, addictions go... I think these are mostly harmles.. (unless there be "stalking" than we are at a whole different level)...

but hey, everyone needs a hobbie!! Some ppl bass fish, some go to baseball games at every stadium, we love the BDHs (one or all; some more than others...)

and I say no harm, no foul... just enjoy.
