And not just because it's carrying our beloved cargo!

Just look at how the sun is eclipsed perfectly by that tuft of plume!

Great looking picture CLJ and the crew will soon be able to see some outta-is-world entertainment.

Of course, there are other great images from the Space Shuttle era, and they've all been collected by this individual...

(His other albums are equally breathtaking!)

Sorry Darkfly it was a cut and paste job. Had to reduce Serenity down so that it would fit on the launch pad. I'm afraid the picture wouldn't get any better or clearer if I enlarged it. Just wanted to convey the idea of our Serenitys finally heading up to orbit.

I would be really happy if someone could explain this pic to me. From the angle... I would say whoever took this amazing picture was vaporized into bits.
If it was a static mounted camera that's equally as cool...
I guess I'm just having trouble figuring out if it's real or not.

Everything you'd want to know about the cameras at Launch Complex 39 is on this (translated) French page...

Ok...was I the only one who saw this picture of the shuttle damage and yelled "What was that? Did the primary buffer panel just fall off my gorram SHIP!?!?"

(Sending them wishes for a non-"interesting" return)

All the pics are great even the supposedly mock up pics of Serenity taking off, I still won't believe they are fakes no matter what people tell me

the mission continues to go well as the team works through the blanket repair options for procedures/tools and which EVA to perform the work on should be decided by the mission management team today. Swanny and Forrester are going for a spacewalk later today to continue work on the newly installed Truss and Solar Array Segment. Airlock egress is ~2 pm EDT.

Here's the new version!
The first used a generic pic that just seemed to have the right angle & lighting.
Found a better one of the actual STS-117 launch!

You flatter me! But, no.
Glad you like it, though!

This is the last one, I swear!
Some'n was buggin' me about the angle of the engines and the exhaust in my first two versions, and then it dawned on me that I should've rotated Serenity another 3° counter-clockwise.
Just couldn't live with it like that.

Still amazes me how much realism is added by the
