Can someone explain to me the obsession with cat photos on the internet? Lately there has been an epidemic on this site and on many of the computers at my workplace. What gives?

They're cute? They're emotive? They're hilarious?

It's the net phenom that just won't die. It's too much fun!

It's been around awhile. I'm actually a latecomer to the whole trend, but that's okay because new ppl jump on teh bandwaggen evry dai!
Just check LJ communities, flickr pools and groups, the websites dedicated to nothing else and you'll see how widespread it has been and continues to be.
My cat macro photobucket excedes its bandwidth; I had to make another one that was private to be able to post the pics at all (all browncoats are welcome to use it too; guest password 'browncoat') I was shocked at how many people must have sought it out...
I haz almost 700 lolcats now (and I made probably 150 of them myself...)

Would you believe that I found the pic looking like that? Didn't have to do a thing to those eyes; amazing how they can reflect like that. How could I not use it?

I know you have probably given it dozens of times before but I was wondering if you could post the address of this photobucket treasure trove again. I'm off to a party this weekend and was thinking I could put up a slideshow of these to keep people entertained!

If you ever lose it again, you can check under the 'properties' of mah kittehs.
Remember, guest password is "browncoat". Is what you are, so pretty easy.
(or if you get really stuck, search for 'funny cat' on photobucket, and the public one is bound to come up. It's called funnycatmacros. As long as you don't post them elsewhere, the pics will be visible.)

I just love all of these, PR you have some of the best, and Sweetserendipity, and MSG. Ah hell, I love em all. I may make some. I saved some kittie pictures I found. Just wonder why the childlike talking for the kittie's, I would have assumed a much more sophisticated speech(but then I'm a fan of cat stories where they end up being the most intellegent person in a room full of humans) The kleenix one, and the one with the huuuge eyes, and oh my God the 'I has a visions'. Oh hell all of them.

Keep em coming, make the kitties rule over teh internets.

English is their second language, and they learned most of it from the ZOMGL33TLOL of teh internets, so their grammar is lacking. That or they've invented their own grammar.
Plus it's funnier that way

My mom's favorite:

Got a PM from a Browncoat that this was actually his cat:

Thought that was pretty amazing.

For some reason this always cracks me up:

'conceptual art'

Hilarious.
