First, I want to let everyone know that I am late comer. I had seen serenity and it rocked my world. Two or three years later... ( last week ) I pick up the complete series of Firefly. I am floored. One of the Most INCREABILE things I have seen in a long time. I guess the reason I bring this up … is that I am feeling severely guilty. That I … a lover of art and well made story telling , was not aware of this show before this. Maybe I could have added a nelson or two, or at the very least expressed my JOYS and Sorrows with other fans of this Great story. I want to apologize to Joss… I feel like I have let him down. I want to apologize to the Cast and Crew…I have not valued their monumental work. Second, I also want to let you know that I am going to dedicate myself to doing my part to help in any way I can to further this shows cause. I am a Fine art Photographer based in Western Maryland … rallies, protest… you name it. I am ready to do my part.
Finally, I want to ask for your forgiveness. I hope that I can do something to show that I am not a fair-weather fan. I have ordered the role playing game and looking for people to play with…. I LOVE THIS SHOW AND THEIR CHARACTERS… all ten of them.

Welcome,
We'd love your input over at the thread "Organise the revolution-for serious FF fans only"
Come on over.

BTW, I do quite a bit of fund raising. And I do writing. You do photography. There are bound to be lots of talented people here (hey, great show, great fans--right?) Maybe we can all get something going.
To paraphrase Kaylee: Whedon's Firefly is just so lush. I want to take a bite out of it all over, you know?

Yes! My sentiments exactly. Over at the SciFi forum there is a group gaining momentum with the same aim. They're looking at the possibility of trying to get SciFi network to pick up the show.

BTW. I'm on board as well with any credible effort. I'm a self employed printer.

Just trying to figure out a way to get all of us on the same page or 'thread' as that may be. Any thoughts?

Welcome Wolfskinbeta; reading how you came here was like re-living my own 'discovery' - 'guilt/anger' trip just last August. Cannot believe with the tripe that's on television how this amazing program was so thoughtlessly tossed away. Luckily there's this place. I am a writer, albiet for the 'puppet theater' as Mr. Universe called the news media. I am not a joiner, but have joined the 76th Independent Battalion. I am not a 'costumer' or ren-fair enthusiast but I will be marching in the Dragon*Con parade in Atlanta this August - in costume. I vote hourly for Firefly as the best tv show ever at richlabonte.net/tvvote. I don't thing any of this will do any good whatsoever; but it makes me feel better. It is amazing to me that a show, canceled five years ago, continues to inspire passion in all those who 'discover' it; and those numbers are growing every week. Good luck to you and count me in on anything or anyway I can help. Pledging yourself to eternal, indentured servitude to Joss?? Hmmmm....it could happen ;)

Also, the bbc poll http://newsvote.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/6517155.stm
is a very important poll. There was a informative thread on how a poll in Britain caused Serenity to jump in Amazon.com's from something like 150 to 15 (very rough numbers here).

Serenity is currently less than 2% behind Star Wars and BBC is a very worldclass org. Doing well there might translate into sales.

I'm in! It may be futile but at least it's worth the gamble.

I started the thread 'Organise the revolution-for serious FF fans'. So far within the last 24 from this thread and the one here, I see people with these resources:

1. Writer
2. Fundraiser
3. Printer
4. Colour Sergant of a Browncoat org
5. Computer, blog specialist
6. Fine art photographer

Plus I've been contributing to the SciFi network forum where you have a handful of other people willing to pool resources and talents.

Sounds like a great start to me! Who wants to set up an official chat meeting?

I agree it may not do any good (then again it just may), but at least we'll met some other brilliant fans!

I'm in. BUT, this is embarrassing, I don't know how to use a chat room or how to get to the one you mentioned. Can you give me a pointer or two?

Paint me there! Should we make it a week later so some of us can get the word out? Or should we initially start with a smaller group to make organising easier?

What's the specifics of getting everyone on aim. Address? Etc. ???

Redhead. Once we get this can we bribe you to write a blog, letter, etc. that could be posted at other forums? For the initial meeting or if we decide that the first one may be better smaller (it may be mayham if by chance we had a few hundred people try to chat), then for a later meeting or announcement, proclamation perhaps.

What's everyones collective thoughts?

1. First meeting small? (y/n)
2. Date this Sunday or next? (y/n)

I vote that the first meeting should be this Sunday with whomever shows up (and that won't be me unless someone explains in redheaddummy talk how to log on I already tried to find phantomwolfskin on aim and .... nevermind!)

Yes, I will write a letter.
Here are the points I think should be covered.

1. Trying to revive Firefly/Serenity
2. Need info from longtime fans on what might not work-what options are closed.
3. We're considering a buy-bye day (say goodbye to crap , hello to magic by purchasing a select advertiser's product on a certain day--such as Universal's products)
4. Come get the ship on her ...um, feet(?)again!

We're considering lots of options (as in all ideas welcome though not all will be selected)

The first thing you can do to help the cause would be to spread the word of Firefly as widely as possible...make sure all your family, friends, and colleagues have seen (preferably bought) Serenity at least. Ideally, if you have a billionaire or two in your friends list who could foot the bill for a sequel...

The multiple posts on other sites thing sounds like something the Browncoat Signal Corps could help with. I'm pretty sure FollowMal is involved with that (in fact, I think she's the lady who would help a lot right now), so... yeah. ::shrugs::

This also sounds like the Summer of Serenity thing they did last year. I don't know a lot about it because that's when I joined, but... there are a freakin' lot of people that could help you with this. Slow down a little and wait for them before you charge ahead. Nothing wrong with energy, but there's a lot of input you haven't had yet.

If you want to do something here's an idea. Register over at www.digg.com. and join the NathanNation tagging team.

It works this way;

When an article appears on the internet you go to www.digg.com and "digg it". That means vote for it. You can also leave comments if you wish.

The most popular articles appear on the front page of Digg and usually get picked up by Google News, Yahoo News etc and lots of people see it.

Right now I'm working with a Digg tagging team over at www.serenitymovie.org and we can use all the help we can get. We'd be glad to also help with anything Firefly/Serenity related. It's what got me on this fan train in the first place.

We are working on a project that is supported by Nathan Fillion along with his friend, author, P.J. Haarsma. It's called Kids Need to Read. It aims to get books to underfunded libraries. It debuted today and it's great and it's fun. www.kidsneedtoread.org.

We are also digging articles on the Hero project.

If you need more details please contact myself or FollowMal and we can point you in the right direction.

For those who need a little Firefly fix, I'd like to throw out the link to our project over at www.stillflying.net, where our virtual series continues the adventures of the crew in the form of scripted episodes. We finished out season one and are only four episodes from finishing season two, so we've got about 25 more episodes (or well over 1000 pages) for those who are interested.

Come on over and take a look. Sign up for our forum and talk about your own projects there, too!

Haldira, if there is anything that the Digg team can do to assist you in getting the word out about either event, we'd be happy to be of assistance.

I would also be willing to post all around anywhere that you don't have folks getting the message out... although the Browncoat Signal Corps is pretty much in decline, I'm still here and I'll be happy to help.
