You are welcome. And I sense a story. Just what has you seriously considering hiding? I ask as though I'm not afraid to pry.

Well I hate to bring the depression to the floor, but I just found out my cousin died this morning. He is only 30 years old. It's just very hard to get my thoughts around at the moment. Hiding seemed like a good plan.

Thanks guys. I really apprecitate your kind words. Just got back from Nebraska this afternoon. I keep switching back and forth between numb and tearful. Anyone have some cheerful news to share or a joke or something?

2- votes recorded as of 08/15/07

Looks like we'll be #1 by D*C
Jokes:
1-A man drives to a gas station and has his tank filled up. The gas pumper spots two penguins sitting in the back seat of the car.
He asks the driver, "What's up with the penguins in the back seat?"
The man in the car says "I found them. I asked myself what to do with them, but I haven't had a clue."
The clerk ponders a bit then says, "You should take them to the zoo."
"Hey, that's a good idea," says the man in the car and drives away.
The next day the man with the car is back at the same gas station. The clerk sees the penguins are still in the back seat of the car.
"Hey, they're still here! I thought you were going to take them to the zoo."
"Oh, I did," says the driver, "And we had a swell time. Today I am taking them to the beach."
2-
A frog goes into a bank, and hops up on the desk of the loan officer. ''Hi,'' he croaks.''What's your name?''
The loan officer says, ''My name is John Paddywack. May I help you?''
''Yeah,'' says the frog. ''I'd like to borrow some money.''
The loan officer finds this a little odd, but gets out a form. ''Okay, what's your name?''
The frog replies, ''Kermit Jagger.''
''Really?'' says the loan officer. ''Any relation to Mick Jagger?''
''Yeah, he's my dad.''
''Hmmm,'' says the loan officer. ''Do you have any collateral?''
The frog hands over a pink ceramic elephant and asks, ''Will this do?''
The loan officer says, ''Um, I'm not sure. Let me go check with the bank manager.''
''Oh, tell him I said hi,'' adds the frog. ''He knows me.''
The loan officer goes back to the manager and says, ''Excuse me, sir, but there's a frog out there named Kermit Jagger who wants to borrow some money. All he has for collateral is this pink elephant thing; I'm not even sure what it is.''
The manager says: ''It's a knick-knack, Paddywack, give the frog a loan; his old man's a Rolling Stone.''

A joke maybe. It seems there was this piece of twine that wanted to get a drink. Unfortunately the only bar in town had a strict no rope, string, or twine policy. So the twine twisted itself and roughed up it's loose end then walked into the bar to order a beer.
The bartender asked, "Aren't you twine?"
And the twine said, "Nope. I'm a frayed knot."

So far? Okayish.
I too had a death this week. A friend of the family situation. I wasn't very close to him but I'll miss him more than some cousins. Went to the funeral this morning. Twas a decent service until the minister decided to get all proselytizey. I was a good boy though and didn't answer his rhetorical questions in a manner he wouldn't have approved of. Anyway to Marvin!

Dad and the sibling will be heading downstate in a bit so I'll have the place to myself for the lions share of the weekend. Well I'll have to look out for the cats but they're easy to get along with mostly.

No problem, you need them, and feel free to ask for them when you want - I do. And thank you.
It wasn't the only reason i've been staying away - I suppose I should say that I got signed off from work about a month ago with depression, and i've been avoiding posting when in such a low mood - don't need to be spreading the misery right now. But i'm feeling better, so I intend to be about a lot more. though if anyone starts talking about D*C consider me to be sitting in the corner with my fingers in my ears yelling la la lala la.

Busy can be good. Idle hands and all that. Picked up my Collector's edition this morning, and picked up Buffy season 5. Now I have to get ready for Dragon*Con. I'm really excited about meeting Mark (Badger) Sheppard, and seeing Adam and Ron again will be good. Also Spike and Dru will be there.
I wonder if they'll go to the Buffy singalong.

Hi everyone. I've been away a long time. Didn't mean to be, just all I do anymore is work and knit. And go to the gym:
Instead of my usual yoga class last night at the gym, they tried out this "Body Flow" class, which was a mix of tai chi, pilates and yoga. I'd never done the tai chi before and felt a bit silly, but it was very interesting. We had three instructors, two I'd had before and one I knew because she occasionally uses the gym at my church to practice tai chi in. And she's from New Zealand and has the best accent ever.

To get a better job. Right. That's it.
I gotta get better about posting quarterly around here, though. Four-five months between visits is downright shameful.

You could use the knitting needles as a gaming console. I wouldn't want to do anything as graphics intensive as Halo but Tetris seems like a natural to port to knitting.

I can't speak for 'Body Flow', but Tai Chi is a excellent work out. Done right, which is to say as slow as humanly possible it will tone your legs into something akin to dynamic alloy. The myth goes that it was invented by a Budhist monk who found that static meditation put him to sleep and so he created Tai Chi to keep his body busy while he tried to find enlightenment. The scary thing is that is really a form of slow motion Kung Fu. Which typical reply is "Only good for defending yourself from herion addicts on the nod." However if you practice doing it for three months in ultra slow motion your body will find it super easy to do at full speed.
Well that's my two bits worth.

We definitely didn't do it ultra slow. But I can really feel it in my legs today. And my arms, but that was from all the tricep pushups the mean pilates lady made us do.
I found the tai chi interesting, but unfamiliar. I want to try more, though. I still love my yoga and pilates, though. Dunno if I'd want to give one up to add something else. And doing all three seems a bit excessive.

Thanks Jadehand. It's good to be back. I find I need a taste of the black every once in awhile. Be among folks who get what this Firefly business is all about.
Away from folks who think seeing the series once - when it was on TV - and the movie is enough.
Back to folks who know what quality Firefly is and why we're so nuts about it.

Even if just viewing it once suffices you'd still need to do it with the DVDs. Otherwise it's all in the wrong order, the aspect ratio is wrong, and you don't even get to see three of the episodes.

Some humor links for Mai,
First the ever popular Homestar Runner

Next it's The Show with Ze Frank. No longer in production so the political humor is a bit dated but the observational jokes are still gold.

Red Velvet is the best, Had that for my birthday. If I were less sleepy, I'd think of something else to say. I'd post humour links, but I think my sense of humour is a bit off at 5:00am..... and those other 23hrs as well.
