_______________________________________________
We represent a newly-formed unit of Independent soliders at the outbreak of the hostilities (prior to Du Khang and Serenity Valley).
First and foremost, remember that this is a fan-based organization, and our first rule is "Show up. March. Have Fun!"

Our inaugural march will be taking place at DragonCon in Atlanta in September of 2007. Until that date, we ask all recruits to refrain from wearing the uniform in public.

We do have a few rules and regulations that must be met in order to be considered as a member, including uniform requirements and weapons requirements. These will be outlined below. Please be sure to read over all the information and confirm that you can meet all of these requirements before applying for membership. We are not trying to keep people out, but we do want to present a united, uniform Battalion of Independent soldiers, and one of the best ways to do this is to look the same.

There are two basic types of uniforms we will be using: Type A and Type B.

Type A will use Mal as a model:

This "uniform" consists of the following:
•Pants with brown stripes up the sides of the legs – please see below for approved merchants.
•An undershirt – black or brown, long-sleeved. Button-ups are acceptable but preferably without a high collar.
•The red vest that the CO has designed. You may either purchase from him or ask for a pattern and fabric swatch.
•The overcoat that the CO has designed. You may either purchase from him or ask for a pattern and fabric swatch.
•Helmet – needed for parade, but other head coverings approved for non-marching appearances (see below).
•Boots – please see below for approved styles and merchants.
•Scarf – Red for enlisted, blue for officers.
•Dark brown belt – 2” is recommended.

The Type B uniform uses Zoe as a model:

This "uniform" consists of the following:
•Pants with brown stripes up the sides of the legs – please see below for approved merchants.
•An undershirt – black or brown, long-sleeved. Button-ups are acceptable but preferably without a high collar.
•The red vest that the CO has designed. You may either purchase from him or ask for a pattern and fabric swatch.
•The "smock" that is worn underneath the red vest. You may either purchase from him or ask for a pattern and fabric swatch.
•Mail sleeves – please see below for approved choices.
•Helmet – needed for parade, but other head coverings approved for non-marching appearances (see below).
•Boots – please see below for approved styles and merchants.
•Scarf – Red for enlisted, blue for officers.
•Dark brown belt – 2” is recommended.

General notes on the uniforms:
•While in all the battle scenes we have seen on screen the uniforms have seen some wear and tear, our unit will not appear that way. DO NOT distress your parade uniform. This pristine uniform is the first uniform we request you have so that you will be able to represent us properly. If you wish to have a ‘battle worn’ look, we ask that you please reserve this for personal appearances and have this as your secondary uniform.

•Sidearms are left up to the individual (pistol and knife--please have them approved by Command before wearing). You DO NOT have to wear a pistol or knife if you do not want to. Note that all knives will need to be peace-bonded for the duration of any appearance you make in uniform.

•Bags and pouches can help complete your outfit. These are also left up to personal choice, but some options are presented below.

Mornin' 76th!

Yes, there is in fact a coffee dance now. I didn't witness it first hand, but did see the vid of it when the Colonel uploaded it to his computer. I was thinking it would make a shiny animated avatar for some aspiring soul.

Perhaps a vid idea for next year, as I proposed at the shindig, would be for a bunch of us to be sitting around a campfire in uniform. It is dark, the sounds of battle can be heard in the distance. The camera pans in and we are talking about the battle, how we have lost some ground, got some wounded and we are running low on ammo. The general feel is one of despair until Capt West swoops in and drops a bag of coffee. We all look around at each other and then all jump up and do the Colonel's coffee dance.

Now we just need a song for the dance.

Hello 76th - it's actually Friday here already, and although we don't have Thanksgiving in Australia (it's a real American tradition that one!) I was reflecting on the year it's been so far and I am honestly so grateful to you all! What I said in the anniversary thread was 100% true and I feel such a sense of connection and family with you all!

I hoep you all enjoy your day, however you are spending it, and if you wonder if anyone is grateful for you - just know they are!!! I am!

Is that a challenge? Let's see what I can find here...

There's Frank Sinatra, "Way down among Brazilians
Coffee beans grow by the billions,
So they've got to find those extra cups to fill,
They've got an awful lot of coffee in Brazil"...

Then there's,

Black Coffee in Bed - Squeeze

A Cup of Coffee - Johnny Cash

Coffee Shop Mofo - JFA

Coffee Club - Spandau Ballet

One Cup of Coffee - Bob Marley

Coffee Mug - Descendents

I found one on YouTube which purported to be about Coffee - but had more blood and guts in it than the good stuff!

Hitching us up back to the top.

Hooray for beginning painting, except for the unfortunate fume headache. I have discovered I do not hate painting the house. There is a zen-like monotony to it that I am beginning to enjoy. (and the pretty results are nice too! LOL) Now that I have dispensed with the annoying blue tape and am just eyeballing the edges, almost all of my frustration with it has disappeared.

I just hate the nasty attitude my husband has been displaying lately. I need someone to explain to him that him going to the store to puchase paint and a paint machine does not constitute "Painting the House." *sigh*

It's 57 degrees in Southern Tennessee today; no appreciable snow since we moved here 7 years ago. As we lived in Denver; and I grew up in Buffalo N.Y. (where they invented snow) I really don't miss it all that much. Only used to like watching it fall, as I sipped a brandy by the fire in Denver and then watching as the RTD buses slid sideways down my street. I am evil.

A bit colder this morning. 35 degrees when I walked the dog at 05:30 this morning. I sure would love to have a white Christmas. *sighs*

Early morning, gonna freeze my bum off in a parade today, bump.

Shame I can't wear my 76th uniform. I'd be toasty warm in that...

Had a dream about next year's parade last night. I was bugging Daisy to hurry up and get dressed. Then everyone who was promoted forgot their blue scarves and Artcat and Zephyr were trying to help me find one. Then Daisy and I were walking around trying to find all the new recruits and make sure they were ready to go. LOL

I have weird dreams!

Kaele funny you should mention having a dream about next year's parade as I had one this weekend too. Mine was more along the lines of us having nearly two hundred uniformed 76thers at Dragon Con next year. We had so many that we actually marched by company and were the hit of the parade.

I've seen crazier things happen. At the rate I see the 76th growing it could be possible. Now it'll just be a matter of how many of us can afford to make the appearance.

LOL My dad make venison jerky that Daisy loves. I, however, am not a big fan of venison, especially the way my dad makes it.

Itty bit of snow on the ground this morning. I'm freezing my tail off just thinking about it.

200 marchers, eh, my LT? That sure would be sweet. You're still technically the color officer, but you're my LT. So that means I get to stand back and let you yell orders, right?

200 Browncoats would be friggin excellent. I KNOW we'll top 50 in 2008 easily. How close do you think we'll get to 100?

A bit too early for a headcount yet. Many will be on the fence until summer before they can determine whether or not they will make it. We'll probably start a new Dragon Con '08 thread here and on the 76th board in the spring to get an idea of who is going to make it for the parade.

Yep, sure am. We get snow so infrequently in this part of the state and I always long for snow around this time of year. It so pretty and really helps to set the tone for the holiday.

But of course it stopped around 2pm and what little accumulation we had (about a half inch) promptly melted.

*sighs*

Snowing here in PA.

Had the kid's karate class cancelled, had my meeting tonight cancelled. So I put a pork roast in the over, went all out and made mashed potatoes, gravy, and pried open a can of cranberry sauce. It really hit the spot on a snowy evening.

Now I can't decide if I want the kidlet's school cancelled tomorrow or not...

mornin' soldiers.

When we get snow down here (once every ten years or so), it's usually gone by mid-day. Still, even the slightest flurry or chance of ice and people are at the stores en masse buying milk, bread, and eggs. Also, they tend to overdo it when salting the ice, using what appears to be a whole bag on a patch roughly the size of a basketball. :D

Mornin' 76th!

Hope everyone has had a good week so far. I am off tomorrow and have some plans for the local browncoats to get together and go downtown to tour the Christmas lights and see some sites.

Richmond area is the same way Jimi. We only get a real accumulation about every 4 or 5 years and it is normally gone in less than a day. The people mob the stores here too as if they are going to be laid up for a month under snow. The road salting is not quite as bad here, but then again the Commonwealth is so short on plows and other snow equipment it is a joke.

Yeah you can always tell the out of state people when it snows.. they start driving slow and rush to the store.. here anything less than 1.5 feet in a night is just business as usual.
Which explains why I am pretty much freezing from October until April...
