Let's make an amazon listmania list with Firefly in the top make it into the top 100!

The most important thing we as fans can do is to spread the word of the Firefly dvds. The more people that watch the dvds, the more will be interested in the movie, which - if hugely successful - may mean that we could get our big damn show back!
One obvious way to get more attention to Firefly is amazon - its peer-to-peer functionality will work for us. Many people have already contributed glowing reviews, but we could get even more publicity through the Listmania lists, too. I've made two lists with the Firefly dvds at the top, which are already in the top100 lists. For maximum publicity, these lists:

Bring these to the top (the second one is already number 3), and a lot of people will get curious.

I don't know whether what I'm about to describe is the same strategy you're recommending, but others on the official board added Firefly to lists of other films and books -- and got caught out by the Amazon filters looking for just this kind of thing. Apparently all the FF references got wiped.

Someone with more accurate info can add/substract to what I've reported.

Ok - I hadn't thought of that. No, I've made the lists from scratch, but something similar may of course prevent votes from showing - perhaps they screen people that followed a link from a fan page and ignore their votes? Anyway, thanks for the heads up!

Exactly! And we've done it - woohoo! No 71 on the top 100 list is now the pure Joss list with Firefly as the lead, and the mixed "sci-fi and fantasy" list is no 40

Both lists are featured as "movers and shakers" (which apparently are lists with unusual increase in ranking), so thanks all for your help.

Now, we just need one of them to be No 1 ;-p

Just a friendly bump and a note that the mixed sci-fi and fantasy list has moved up to #14 on the top listmania ranking. The two earlier lists sasja created are 1 and 2 on the movers and shakers list.

Amazing what just a few votes can do.

Yes, that's a lovely fantasy - my favorite after LotR. Read it countless times! I made a list of my favorite fantasy books, too (I thought it maybe started to look a little suspicious that Firefly was at the top of every list I've made), which you can take a look at - maybe you'll be inspired? From being number 2 we're down to place 28, as some non-fans have made their voices heard (the rating is down from 5 to 4.5 stars), but it's attracted close to 1500 views, giving Firefly that much more publicity. Thanks to all who voted - and take the time to vote if you haven't done so yet.

Firefly's position has dropped out of the top 100 bestsellers (where it admittedly settled down for a long time) down to 185! We can't let this train run out of steam until we have the BDM (which apparently is in September, sigh).
