I just rolled in from the Emergency Room where I've been since 10:30 last night. My little girl is in the hospital with what the doctor thinks is an appendicitous (spelling? it's been a long night).

As much as I hate missing Chatta Con and not being able to spend time w/ my family in the 76th, my little girl needs me here more.

My thoughts are with you and your little girl, brother. I know things will turn out for the best, but at the same time, I know how scary it is taking your child to the ER in the middle of the night.

You aren't paying me for the room. Period. sister will be there, and that means there are still 4 of us to split it, so we will be fine.

MsB, HK, thanks for the care and support. Y'all know it's been a really rough month and a half or more and things just keep piling on. It means a lot that y'all are willing to come down here and stomp some ass for me, and if this keeps up, I'll be sending you names and addresses (you too Boothe).

Thanks everyone for the thoughts and well wishes. Audrey is better today. Her fever is down to 100 from the 104 of Thursday night and the abdomenal pains have subsided some. They thought it might be her appendix due to the abdomenal pains and her high white cell count, but after running tests they determined Friday morning it was severe Strep.

She's on meds now and should be fine.

Sorry I missed Chatta Con. I sure do miss seeing all of you.

Alas, we did not win the room party award, however, we got many, many compliments on our "outpost" theme! From our campfire (with crumpled packs of "Blue Sun" cigarettes, a "tripod" made of branches and with a metal pot hanging from it - to the huge panels of camo netting hung on the walls and Chinese lanterns, maps, posters, etc. on the walls as well! Within hours we'd gone through about 6 gallons of punch (rum and vodka)..cases of beer and a huge pile of Chinese food! (Oh, the basket of apples with a sign reading "apples are grizwald free" got lots of laughs from those that know the series! Zephyr had made up an entire box of matches with serenity, 76th and blue sun themes to give away and many, many folk asked about how they could find us! We had lots of fun (although Jimi has threatened to recommend me for a promotion -NOOOOoooooo!). I will leave the posting of pictures to those whose cameras actually captured the events!

Still fighting off this week-long headache. Can't tell if it's from lack of sleep, wisdom tooth pain, stress, sinuses...or all of the above. All I know is that right behind my eyes and my jaw hurts. *groan*

Time for some meds.

Looking forward to a night away from the hubby and kids (FINALLY!) for a rousing game of D&D. With hubby home sick for two weeks being nursed by yours truly and my oldest's extra long weekend off school, I've been family-ed out. Making the Pinewood Derby car for the boy child. Got the scrapes to prove it! He helped with sanding quite a bit. My hands and shoulders are sore.

So very proud of myself, not ONE power tool and I think it looks awesome. :)

Uh...I mean OUR creation.

He's actually spray painting it himself! I'm so proud of him. He'll be putting the clearcoat on and then the stickers on sometime this afternoon. After that, all that's left is the wheels. I'm gonna have to break out the power tools on Thursday and bore out a hole to put in some weights. I know it's gotta be underweight.

I went to the Army Navy store looking for a blue skull cap to wear under my 76th helmet and wound up picking up some doo-dads for his Pinewood Derby car. I grabbed some yellow and green snake themed stickers. (Bryonsboas would absolutely love it, I'll have to send him photos when we're done.) Here they had an extra wheel set, and luckily I grabbed it. Didn't the little stinkers lose the wheels from the original box on me already? The axles are shinier than the ones in the original box, so they've been polished. I'm hoping they run slightly faster than the originals...

Hope the politics don't go crazy this year like last year. The Pack collects the cars on Thursday night, then brings them in a huge box on Saturday morning so the kids are less likely to forget them. Seems last year, the Pack leader had the box of cars and his son won the Derby. Some people were pissed. I was a little more understanding. His oldest is in Boy Scouts and worked his way up from first grade and the kid that won had been in Derbys for his fourth year, so the man's had a BIT of practice (hrmmm...9 years?) and of course his car might be slightly better.

I missed y'all too.

The other party was decent. Their decorations weren't as in-depth as ours, but they did have the bouncer/bartender combination that worked well for them. They had a pretty decent variety of music too, but no real food (we had $80ish of Chinese takeout). Zeph and I visited the other parties to check them out, and it seemed from both what we saw and what we heard that ours was the best. *shrug* Maybe next year. :)
