Chrisisall,

Dark Angel only 3 and a half stars? Thought that series was tops in your book. Oh well, here's my list:

-Firefly
-Buffy
-Freaks and Geeks
-all of my star trek on dvd(ds9 Voyager, next generation, original series)

-Rurouni Kenshin/Samurai X
-Original car classics (Gone in 60 Seconds/Vanishing Point/Bullitt)
-LOTR
-Billy Jack series of films
-Anything Lonesome Dove related

There are a few more I can't think of right now but I am starting a Mel Brooks collection soon.

It is, but I can't give it four stars due to some suckitude in the second season....

...and is that TOS the original vintage, or will you be getting the re-tooled ones with the new FX?

-House
-Doctor Who/Torchwood

I agree with NV on Kenshin as far as anime goes, but only the first two box sets. After the Legend of Kyoto the stories get rubbish.

Yeah. A little out of character for a period story, but some of its fun. That and the sappy ending I always melt over.

I've seen some of the retooled original series in HD, and I have to say it's pretty impressive visually, Spock looks greenish(I don't like that) but the new scenes of the ship and planet exteriors rock. I will stick with the standard dvd sets that I have!

-Firefly/Serenity
-MASH
-Stargate Atlantis
-X Files
-Stargate SG1
-LOTR

In all honesty I've yet to get all of Stargate and I'm saving up a little bit for the MASH: Martinis and Medicine collection and a decent case to put them all in. My parents have The Complete X files collection that I gave them. Eventual I will include...

-Eureka
-Chuck
-Adventures of Brisco County Jr.
-Tales of the Gold Monkey
-Quantum Leap
Maybe...
-JAG
and...
-Space Cases

There are few other shows that I love enough or aren't shown in reruns enough already. As for Trek I only really like TOS, TNG, Voyager and Enterprise and they show those in reruns all the time.

P.S. I may have to get this Remastered TOS I'm hearing about for my dad's B-day in March.

Ok first off I must say this... dial up sucks, and so does rural South Dakota. Anyway looks better than the original. It's not cutting-edge amazing but it's also not so flawless or flashy it detracts from the outdated sets and costumes... or, for the most part, outdated acting.

EDIT: By no means did I imply an insult. I enjoy the original Trek for the most part but you have to admit with the exception of a handful of performances that it's a bit.... cheesy and the fighting is always so pathetic it's hilarious.

Yes...but much more importantly...IT STARRED GINA TORRES!!!!!
And....she was smokin' hot in it, and ultra kick-ass bad! When you eventually buy the thing, please write and tell your thoughts of the final episode....After numerous viewings I still can't decide if it was intended as a grand finale to the series...or the teaser to a new season of adventure that was not to be. It ended right there, and Sam Raimi went on to do Spiderman...the bastard!

I'm just over half way through Brisco at the moment. Read about it ages ago on this very here forum and it stuck with me so I decided to give it a go as Bruce is just too cool to ignore.
And not to advertise a certain fast food chain but "I'm loving it!"

Buffy/Angel
Band Of Brothers

Six Feet Under

and I'm sure there's one I'm forgetting, about a mismatched crew just trying to get by....now what was it called?

Plus I'd add Heroes and Lost if they continue to keep me watching and don't screw things up.

If the show continues the way it is then it will definitely be in there, but at the mo' I've avoided getting SGA and SG1 on DVD, as great as they are. They can go on a 'Must Buy Eventually' list.

I'd love, LOVE to add the Zatoichi TV series to my collection.

Gots mad skillz, loves playing with matches.

Nice to see there are others that like it too. One time a woman tried to tell me that for a man to like GG was proof he was gay. I'm as straight as an arrow, but if liking GG makes me gay, I'll happily admit to being as gay as Capt. Jack Harkness.

I can say from experience it is a very good show. I own all 3 seasons and was an avid follower of the series when it originally aired. Season 2 is a bit different than 1 and 3, due in large part to Chris Carter handing over the reigns to another creative team. Many fans of the show regard the middle season as the red headed stepchild but I think there is a lot of worthwhile material there.

I would be remiss if I didn't mention the great characters and the actors who portrayed them. Lance Henriksen is at his best in portraying the lead character, Frank Black. Terry O'Quinn, known to current TV viewers from his role on Lost does a great job as the enigmatic Peter Watts. Perhaps the most interesting character in the series is Lucy Butler. She only appears in a few episodes over the entire run of the series but what an impression she leaves.

I won't go on about the particulars of the series, I'll leave that for you to discover if you so chose, suffice is to say I don't think you will be disappointed if you pick up these DVDs.

I also have a lean towards cancelled shows. Ugh.

Firefly (duh)

Stargate Atlantis (I don't like SG-1, but SGA is great)

My So Called Life (Yeah, it's melodramatic, but it's emotional mess goodness)

Freaks and Geeks (because my best friend and I watched it every week it was on until it disappeared)

Joan of Arcadia 1&2 (good show)

Wonderfalls (great show)

Eureka (fun show)

Oz (another good show)

X-Files (pre-season 6)

Xena (I know it's cheesy)

DS9 (loved it)

Lost (cause it's the first show I got caught up in that much)

I'm sure there's a ton I'm missing.

I find I have limited capacity for re-re-watching old TV shows. BSG (new) is good, but once you've seen it, you've seen it. It was good to re-watch Babylon 5 after 10 years - but it'll be another 10 years before I feel inclined to plough through it again.

Two I do keep coming back to are:

1. Firefly/Serenity - I won't bother preaching to the choir.

2. Ultraviolet (the late 90s UK mini-series, not the US film) - for me, this represents everything that Torchwood promised (and failed to deliver) by way of the supernatural meeting gritty real-world topics. The director/writer seems to be a "usual suspect" on Dr Who, too, so there's no excuse). To rub salt into the wound, one of the UV actresses turned up on Torchwood this week...

Well, yes, Dark Angel was a good show. However, between re-watching "Serenity" and watching "The Sarah Connor Chronicles" my "Watching big bads get beat up by a 90 lb girl" needs are being adequately met by the incomparable Ms Glau.

Any more such indulgence could spoil the anticipation for "The Dollhouse" (and, hopefully, Ms Dushku kicking the out of some bad guys - unless Joss has gone and done something stupid like growing up).

(Plus we in the UK are just now getting the opportunity to see the chick from Jeckell and Hyde trading bionic blows with Starbuck - although its so dark and rainy that it could be anybody).

Andy Richter Controls the Universe The funniest show of the 21st Century, disgracefully not yet available
The Tick Browncoat Ben Edlund's finest half hour (or nine thereof)
Kitchen Confidential "I don't know why I love you..." Oh, that's right, Morena Baccarin falling down drunk, episode 11
Undeclared Unquestionally funny and real, my favourite Judd Apatow/Seth Rogen vehicle

My self imposed rules are:
five shows
SINGLE SEASON ONLY SHOWS!

That leaves no room for Scrubs, BlackAdder, Fawlty Towers, Veronica Mars, 3rd Rock From the Sun, 30 Rock, Two and a Half Men, Blake's 7 or Seven Periods with Mr Gormsby (except that only season one of that is available on dvd.)

I make no apologies for the dominance of comedy in my list.

I ordered "Queen of Swords" last week along with the TV series "Twelve O'Clock High". I did not know "Twelve O'Clock High" was available untill I started searching through sites selling obscure DVD's.

The DVD site sends me an Email every day telling they are both backordered. I have am collecting the Emails for the fun of it. I have seven so far. Each tells me I can cancel my order if I choose not to wait. I think I will give them a little more time. I am enjoying the Emails.

When I have about thirty of them I think I will reply to each one all at once and see if they continue sending more.
