heart of gold for one - is an episode that has always made me wonder, what and then all went home and went to bed? i don't think so .
a lot of loose ends after serenity leaves and burgess is dead.
just wondering - are there any other episodes that bother you in the same way? Leave a 'And then what?' hanging in the air.
i aint real sequel minded - but nonetheless...

to a certain degree there are loose ends in every episode, some more some less.
although for me, i guess war stories is the most intriguing. Niska gets away, doesn't he? Would he have come after Mal again, had the series continued? I wonder. unlikely for him to let the successful attack on his skyplex go unanswered. bad for his reputation.
would saffron have made yet another return? why does book leave the crew? and with book it's more the loose ends (or rather beginnings) in his past that are so interesting.
would atherton have tried to get back at Mal and Inara in some way?

I'd like to know what happens after The Message. The crew is gellin' like a felon.

i wouldn't mind seeing saffron again. i think mal just wanted to get naked.
that's why i never kiss em on the mouth

Since every episode had a few loose ends which I would love to see resolved [insert obligatory Fox bashing comment here]. the better question for me would be what plot points would I NOT like to see followed through.
Hmmm...I'm thinking...
Didn't really care for Stitch but since he's dead, I guess it's a moot point.
Yep, I guess that's about it!

The big one is do Mal and Inara get together or don't they? And if the do get together, do they stay together?

If they do get together, they almost certainly don't stay together, historically, Joss doesn't let relationships last.

Considering that the Commentary to Serenity-the-Pilot zooms in on the Blue Sun logo and says how hugely important Blue Sun is, I'd like to have, well, seen something about it in the actual show.
And parents are constantly saying things they don't mean--I'd like to find out if Gabriel Tam really would refuse to help Simon ever again; for all we know, he and Regan have no idea what's happened to either of their children.

this is getting interesting...:)

Some of these questions are hinted at again--or even answered outright--in the Serenity comics. If you haven't checked out THOSE LEFT BEHIND and BETTER DAYS, do it now! (Of course, they also raise some questions of their own...)
As for the return of Niska, I'm not sure if Whedon himself had an answer on that. The exchange between Mal and Inara indicating that Mal let him live is a late addition to WAR STORIES (at least it's not in the script), which makes me wonder if Niska's survival was a last minute decision to keep their options open.
Speaking on a more personal (and non-Whedon) front, our virtual series at www.stillflying.net has addressed many of these questions, trying to be as faithful to Joss's vision as possible. If you haven't checked us out, you might want to consider it. We've got more than 20 episode-length scripts waiting for you!

Talk about a loose end. BOOK from the “Safe” episode. I mean, damn come on. Who were you. That question is probably the one that is the biggest for me. Of all the loose ends of the series, it has to be that one. And then the movie comes out and I’m all pumped thinking maybe we get to find out just a little something.
Im still pissed about that one to be honest. Come on, who was he? And then in the last episode Jubel is all like that aint know Shepard. Ahh, it was like sticking a knife in me.

There's going to be a comic addressing this very issue. 'The Shepherd's Tale'
My take? The guy was a cop of some sort. Something senior and maybe not too clean. Either that, or a licensed bounty hunter.

I suspect with the death of Nandi the crew of Serenity will never return to the moon where Heart of Gold took place. It just depends who fills the shoes of Burgess now that he is dead as well.
I do believe Niska would enter their lives again. Not sure about Safron. She stole the laser and Inara made sure she could not escape, so the authorities must have her locked up. They may even be able to link her to some of her other crimes now that they have her. She was one loose cannon to have onboard. I don't see Mal dealing with her unless she found a way to force him. Safron could kidnap Simon. We found out how easy that is.

Yo/Saff/Bridge would have definitely made a return. Taken into custody would have allowed her to charm her way out of custody. Really, did we even know that she was arrested. maybe she acted like a victim, and got the heck out of there. We would have seen Badger again. More blue hand guys. Niska for sure. The Lassiter would have been fenced. That would have been an entire episode on its own.
