Ok, I'm a Whedonverse kind of gal. Seen Buffy, Angel and Firefly numerous times. I've read interviews with Joss so I am perfectly aware of his tendencies toward happy couples.

So, why was I completely blindsided by the

I was pretty shocked too... which was funny, since in the first issue, when we first met her, I said to myself "well she is cannon fodder"

and then I got all shocked! *shakes head at my own naivety*

but someone at Whedonesque thought it might be a fake out of some sort, that she MIGHT survive.... through magic or something....
do you think that that is too much to hope?
