As much as I'd like to see angel continue (considering this season, definitly), I can't really believe that a major network would try and put something like this together at the last minute like this.

I'd love to see it happen, but I'm not keeping my hopes up.

I doubt Angel will end up on NBC

maybe Whedons news show?

NBC was pretty good to Quantum Leap, provided you overlook the annual moves of course. But then Brandon Braga liked it.

Where should it not end up - there's the question. CBS for one, but that's an old grudge I've yet to leg to of. And ABC? Don't EVEN get me started. Should probably avoid TNT like the plague too, even though they've already got it in syndication...

hmmmm...

Anybody else got serious deja vu right now?

The NBC rumor is just that according to this:

Good news about the DVD deal though. I think there is a chance of a Spike spin-off with a mix of regulars from both shows.

It would be cool, but I'm pretty skeptical. I don't think it will happen, but if it does, I ain't complaining.

I don't think it's true, but...

There is a ton of chatter about a Spike spinoff, or a DVD only release of S6. The latter seems like a fantasy because without income from advertising, a show like this is almost inconceivable.

I could really get with a Spike spinoff personally. He and Wesley are the two best characters in the Whedonverse.

I suppose it's possible NBC would agree to one more year of Angel if it included the rights and production greenlight for a big spinoff series. But how likely is that?

They would have to do some good gorram work to make a spike show. It took me awhile to catch onto angel. Spike is my favorite character of all time, but they would need a cast that no show has every seen for it be as good as Whedon's other masterpieces.

As much as I love AtS, I have to admit that the show right now would be closer to its natural end than to the beginning. Even if the WB hadn't cancelled it prematurely this year, it probably would only have another year or two left. For that reason alone, I doubt the NBC rumour. Why would they pick up a show that will probably end soon anyway? Also, AtS doesn't fit their standard cop/lawyer/doctor format (well, OK - evil lawyers - OK, it totally fits the lawyer show format).

I'd love it to be true (because I would love to see what ME would do if they were able to wrap it up on their own terms), but I have to expect that it's just a mean, nasty rumour started to get our cold, dead hearts pumping again before finally being staked once and for all.

Except that most networks make the majority of their cash from a series from pre-arranged deals for DVD releases, overseas showings and so forth. The supposed "big advertising revenue" income is a drop in the ocean compared to all that.

I just saw the head of NBC tv giving an interview on a cable news channel. He said something about making a special effort to "give the viewers what they want". Of course, he didn't say anything specifically about AtS, and he was probably just spewing the usual platitudes that the network suits give during interviews. However, if there's a grain of truth to what he said, it might be worth it to do the postcard sending thing again. It probably won't accomplish anything, but at least we'll be letting the NBC guys know "what the viewers want".

Hmm...I wouldn't mind that it's on NBC really. But it would be plain good that at least SOMEBODY picks them up.
How soon/late was the response to Buffy being on UPN? B/c near Fall season I remember seeing commericials again about Buffy.
But yes, this is weird seeing as how nobody didn't want them at first.
I should probably look up Buffy news...:/

This got me thinking. Buffyverse shows are huge in england and have found sucsess in europe. Does the neilson ratings reflect overseas? I would imagine a show would get a whole other set of advertizing revenue for overseas products. Hmmm.

I would like to think rating does have an effect overseas. I can't think of any shows off hand though as a good example behind this. :/
