Not sure much during that trip. The guys caught one thing on thermal that was really cool. I was outside for the filming, making sure no hooligans snuck onto the property. No glory.

But I have been to the place we were at several times, which is why I got to hang out with TAPS, and I've experienced some down right crazy stuff there.

That photo was taken at the end of a loooong weekend.
I was tired and cranky and had nothing to wear
and had to drive a couple hours back home in the hot hot sun
and did I mention I was tired and cranky?
And I actually think I didn't turn out half bad in it.

Okay, so I have a question or two for those who may enter this thread. Number one, if you could have an image of yourself as, basically, anything conceived by man and photoshop, what would it be? Number two, would you potentially pay someone to create it? Number three, if someone (

) were willing to create something like that for you at no charge, would you let her use it in a portfolio so she could potentially charge other people for the same kind of thing?

I can tell you now that I ( and many I know ) would pay to be able to send off their digital photos and have them retouched to specification( You know like when I whine and beg you to fix my photos 'cause I look crappy in them)

Yeah, I'd more than likely do that, too. I'd like to be able to do at least some work that could be more creative and challenging to my artistic brain, though, and I've always been drawn to myth and fantasy.

I think you ought to look for jobs as an illustrator for fantasy and sci fi books.. You'd be so great at it:) HUGS Rose Hey could you take that pic of me in the red corset and give me wings or something?? Wow that'd be soooo cool and yes I think it'd be marketable as well. Maybe you should make up a sample case, flyers, and cards and bring them to D*C then you could get some orders... you know custom images for people.

Yes, I could, but it would be much easier if I had more back to work with; really more space in general to fit that kind of thing into the image. I'd be very pleased to try, especially if I could use it as an example for potential clients in the future. I've got a couple cool ones of me, but rather not look like a total narcissist. Or like I'm the only one who's interested in my talents
So yeah, I'll work on it, but if you find the time to get an image with more space to work with, I'd be very grateful.

There are several ways to get an effect like that....

One has to do with being possessed of natural glowy awesome,
which is Rose's case.

The other ways have to do with different
layers, filters, transparencies, and overlays,

Okay, non photoshop geeks can tune out at this point.

If I remember correctly, first I made a duplicate layer with a neon glow filter, for the blue tint, turned down the opacity on that, made another layer with a diffuse glow, turned down the opacity on that one, then did a third layer (these are all from the original photo) with a torn edges filter, and turned down opacity on that. I stacked them all up, did a stamp visible (shift, ctrl, alt, E) and hid the filter layers, then masked the knife out of the stamped layer. I blurred the 'torn edges' a little. Then I did a gradient map over it and masked out everything but my hair, so it had the brightness to it... I think there was another neon glow in there, and more stamping, and re-masking the knife so it was definitely coming through from the original photo, then stamping again, and I think I might have used the dodge tool on the blade to make it pop a little more. I think that's everything.

The exploding woman was basically a lot of lense flares on a lot of black backgrounds set to screen. And diffuse glow. I really like the diffuse glow filter, if you can't tell.

Glowy awesome, yes. You know it's true.

The mask (an actual Venetian Mask!) was a birthday gift from a very smart man.
It never occurred to me that I may like one or to get one for myself,
but now that I have it, I really do like it.
It's not "prized" per se, but Mask likes having her picture taken. Bit of a diva. XD
