The photo that made my millenium...

You can't see in this photo (or any of the ones I have as yet unfortunately) but the back of the shirt has an amazing picture of Kaylee drawn by a friend of mine. Jewel was quite impressed. And she autographed it for me which I will scan in due course.

Ok, I didn't particularly want to post this pic for reasons that will be obvious once you see it, but unless someone took a picture of me from behind at the Con (and if they did, I wasn't aware of it and haven't found it yet) this is the only picture of the back of the shirt that exists. Sorry for the, er, unconventional camera angle. I had to take it on timer with the camera balanced on the back of my sofa.

That stormtrooper was great, Roxy! Glad the shot for Z came out, too XD

Okay, first of the fangirl shots. This man is absolutely wonderful. Super sweet, friendly, willing to do just about any pose (within reason) and just such a presence. I wanted to steal him and keep him for always. This first shot I went non-verbal and couldn't manage to voice a request, so I just hugged him. He seemed totally okay with that and I love this picture.

I have many. Many many. I also have classes and a manager who seems, increasingly, to hate me. So I'm going as fast as I can, really. At least my teacher was nice enough to let me use the scanner in class for something totally non-class related...

...speaking of. Second picture with James. I managed to say something this time and get the Drusilla moment. The best thing about this shot is the moments before it, when he puts his forehead against yours, looks you right in the eyes, then says "Okay, now look at them like we're gonna kill them."

I really did want to kill the photographer a little bit when I saw that the arm around my waist had been cropped out.

Yes, he does make you feel like the only thing in the room. I think that's probably the answer for anyone who wonders why a photo-op with James Marsters costs so much.

Ugh!!!!!!

I live in Mobile, Alabama. Just about a 4 hour drive from Atlanta. I was all buckled down and waiting on Gustav to sweep me away. I sooo should've been at DragonCon!

I've never been to a Con. If I would've gone, it would've been by myself. BUT! My best friend is moving here in a few months! He's the guy that introduced me to Firefly back when the DVDs first came out. We've been buds for like 15 years. He went to DragonCon back in '04 I think. He met and got autographs from Nathan, Jewel, and Adam. He said they were so cool! He said you're not supposed to be able to meet these people, but you do. It was like meeting Buggs Bunny! LOL!

Anyway, I'm gonna do everything I can to make sure that me and my buddy Eric have pictures to post here after next year's con!!!!!

Damn - knew I was missin' some serious go-se going to the karaoke bar instead of the room Shindigs. Anyway I'm home (a.k.a. at my GF's) safe from a quick and almost-painless train trip - the pain is mostly in my neck from trying to sleep in a coach seat. :P Ran into some other con-goers on the train - we got super-lucky! The Amtrak service in that area has been affected by the hurricane so the trains don't run south of....of all places....Atlanta. Phew. PHEW. Lucky ruttin' break.

Now to pootle around Myspace and Flickr looking for good pics.

Steamer also showed up in a picture from the shindig taken by one of the guys next to me on the plane home. He was, surprisingly, the only one in the picture whom I recognized.

After this shot was taken, I just looked up at Alan and hugged him. He gave me a slightly shocked hug back and a thank you, and I ran away before the photographer could yell at me. (He liked to yell if anyone held up the line. I didn't like him very much.) I would have hugged Nathan, too, if I'd had time and been a little less giddy. Alan is very good to hug, just for the record

I was looking at pics over at the D*C site and so far the only Browncoat pics I noticed were the ones from the parade. WTF? Is that what the con is about? All the marketing hype and BS fakery people put on because it looks good? Is Brown not in fashion this year? Didn't we make a loud enough voice for "them" this year? Should we strive to yell louder and longer than the other fandoms? Are we not pretty enough? Didn't we pay to see and be seen like the rest of them?

F*uck all that and those who think like them. Seems a few new projects may be in order for the remainder of the days until next D*C. I can think of two MSB and myself formulated just while travelling home. I challenge every one on the Whedon boards to make some noise and represent for one of the most awesome fandoms ever. If anything attend a shindig and rally behind the folks who already have projects in the works. Find likeminded people and leave open the door to our fandom. Expose new people to the awesome stories Whedon and share with them the awesomeness that is us.

Sorry for the rantage. Just want to let you all know that I appreciate very much the opportunity to share thoughts, feelings, and sometimes space with every one of you.

Actually, Froggy is a pretty decent guy.

When you have hundreds of people in line waiting to get their picture taken and you have to get through all of them before the guests have to leave and the next one shows up... when your printers start to go wonky and you have hundreds more people nagging you to print the photo you just took five minutes ago... you might get a little grumpy, too, when people linger and take up all the other people's time. You let one fan talk to the guest for a minute or two, then multiply that by a couple thousand, and you'll never get done before the guests have to leave, and you'll have hundreds of very angry people who never got a chance.

I worked there for only 8 hours and I was ready to take a flame thrower to the crowd. So... just sayin'... you might want to understand the other guy's side before calling him a dick, yeah?

Yes, grasshopper, I "worked" there.
I kinda know the guys from Froggy's Photo Op table, so when they get swamped, I help out of the sheer kindness of my cold little mechanical heart. The "pay" is that I get to watch people like Nathan Fillion, Alan Tudyk, James Marsters, etc. fooling around behind the scenes before the fans pounce on them, and once in a while I get to sneak in for my own photos with some of them. ^__^ Better yet, I get to hang around with some very cool people who actually work there. ^^

Yep. Never underestimate the awesomeness of the CON job. XD

It's been just barely a week... and, you know, thousands of photos.... I imagine his first priority was to finish, print out, and mail all the originals (and then reprints) that he couldn't print out during D*C weekend. If you don't have them by the end of this week, email Froggy and attach a small version of the scans you made so he knows which photos to look for. You did take a card, yeah? XD Also, just in case, make sure you have an email account that can handle attachments that are 3-5 megs each.
