Well, I could have done what FMF suggests just now. Or, if I was a dick, I could run around and sign you up to tonnes of porn mailing lists. Or...

Just goes to show that if one actually wants to keep private information private:

1) Don't post it in a public forum.

2) If you don't know how to delete something ask discretely i.e. not on the same public forum.

And:

3) Do NOT tell the world what information you want to keep private and where to find it while asking how to remove it.

In other words, painting a gigantic target on said information, with an arrow pointing at it doesn't actually accomplish keeping that information private. Might also want to keep a tight eye on the request thread so one could delete it asap. Just a thought.

Thanks for the tips, and thanks to whoever editted the post for me before I got chance to come back and do it myself. Normally I need no help editing posts and do just look for the edit button, but I couldn't for the life of me see it

Sometimes the login gets killed. Sometimes it comes back on its own. This site is weird. If you ever don't see an 'edit' link on a post that you want to edit again, just scroll to the top of the page and make sure that your name/handle is there (i.e. no guest). If you don't see an edit button, chances are that you're actually running as 'guest'. Just log back in and all will be well with the world again.
