Twilight was better than I expected, but had the most mild Of Carter Burwell soundtracks I've heard - still quite good, but not his signature sound. The most riled up sounds were 2 cuts from Paramore.

What, 2 more from this series?

I'll pick Push - looks like what Jumper should have been, or an upgraded Next.

I saw Twilight last night. It really didn’t do much for me. It was really slow. I thought it was an adventure/suspense type film, but it actually turned out to be more of a Harlequin romance. There was a lot of feelings and stuff between the protagonist, Bella (Stewart), and her father and her friends and whatnot. The girls might give it a bit higher rating then me, because it just wasn’t my cup of tea. It really didn’t work for me at all. The only part of the film that was actually interested in was the final battle scene. Now as far as Kristen Stewart, she did a really good job with the character. I’ve known about her from Disney type films, but never considered her an appealing actor until this film. So that was certainly a plus, but her performance alone couldn’t save this film.

I looked into Push. [ http://www.slashfilm.com/2008/10/17/push-movie-trailer/ ]. And it looks pretty good. I love Dakota Fanning, so I’d probably go see it just for that, but the story looks pretty good too.

It’s release is expected to 9 February 09.

I enjoyed Twilight. It was exactly what the book was, a romance story about a vampire and a teenager who fall in love. Its not an action flick. It certainly had its fair share of weak parts but it was enjoyable. Besides, the fact of the matter is, its based on a series of books that were targeted to teen and tween girls.

My wife describes it as masturbation material for girls. Heck, I enjoyed the movie and got laid that night... made for a nice evening.


Anyway, as for sci-fi for adults, I can't wait for Watchmen. I first read the comic back in the 80's so I've been stoked for it for years. Can't say that I'm too excited about anything else on the list.

Although, I did see the trailer for Push before Twilight and that certainly looked like it could have some promise.

Although I can agree Twilight is mostly a chick flik, I must admit I noticed numerous times during viewing that I was much more tense, aprehensive, suspense entwined than I would have expected, due solely to the film scenes.

Twilight I'm afraid does nothing for me. It might be rental-worthy but what I've heard about it and from the looks of the trailer it's far from my "must-see" list.

The Day the Earth Stood Still on the other hand I'm quite looking forward to. And I think the idea that basically humans have to clean up their act and treat the world better, or be destroyed, is an interesting concept. Otherwise this is just Independence Day all over again. Keanu Reeves is not exactly a great actor but as an alien, he just might be perfect for the role.

As pretty as the first movie looked, I'm not a big fan of Underworld. All style and no substance in my opinion.


The Watchmen however I'm intrigued about. I still haven't read the graphic novel, even though its apparently one of the greatest from fanboys perspectives. I'l definitely give the movie a shot.

Star Trek, I'm not the biggest fan of, but I quite like the look of the trailer, mostly. And early word is that its the Star Trek movie we've all been waiting for, or at least the one non-fans will love.

2012 I saw the trailer to the other day. I'm willing to give it a chance. Although I didn't see 10000BC, I love The Day After Tomorrow. So who knows.

The only thing I see missing is Fanboys. Not exactly sci-fi perse, but definitely a Sci-fi Geek picture. A road movie about 4 friends looking to break into the most guarded of locations - Skywalker Ranch - and steal a copy of the new Star Wars movie before anyone's seen it. Loads of star cameos and backing by George Lucas. Plus Kristen Bell in a princess Leia outfit? How can I miss this?

I would like to add The Spirit to the list, also an old comic. It is coming out Christmas day. The adds look very stylized and film noirish but there is nothing wrong with that if approached right. I am willing to give it a chance.

I also plan to see the new Star Trek. Nothing wrong with a good back story.

Twilight- I'll echo Needy on this. Not on my to see list. To me Vampires are creatures, animals, SCARY, not angsty, love struck tweenies that is is aimed at.

The Day The Earth Stood Still- I'm just afraid this will be another Wars of the Worlds. While not terrible, nothing to rave about. Bland.

Underworld: Rise of the Lycans- Now, this, I'm looking forward to. I actually like the first two, one being the best. THIS is vampires and werewolves.

The Watchman- This looks worth seeing, the most promising of the lot.

The Race to Witch Mountain- Having seen the originals when they came out, I'll definitely see this. Plus I like the Rock.

Star Trek- Ok, I'm a space junkie, so I will see this. I may not like it, but I'll watch it. Not a Trekkie, so I have no real preconcieved notions. Hell, I plan on watching Starship Troopers 3 and I know it's gonna be bad...

2012- I know nothing about.

The Spirit- I want to like this, but I'm handicapped by the style. Didn't like Sin City, but I'll still probably watch this. Hell I watched The Phantom and The Shadow...

Also regarding the "know how it turns out", there's a line in the trailer where John Connor says "this isn't the future my mother warned me about", so no, this isn't akin to a prequel where you will know who will die and who won't.

I have to say this was an average film. The scenes alternated between cool and "what the fuck is going on here?". I get the feeling Frank Miller was torn between telling the story in his own way and trying like hell to stay true to the source material. The end result is a rather uneven picture.

Actually, I don’t think Twilight was bad. I really liked Kristen Stewart. I liked that the heroine was actually injured after her fight with the bad guys. I like it when movies don’t insult my intelligence, which a lot of movies do. I was watching the Bourne Ultimatum, which I really like by the way, but in the fight scene between Bourne and the Asset sent to kill Nicky, did it bother anyone else, that Bourne had almost no marks at all from that fight? Didn’t that just undermine the intensity of that whole scene? I’ve bleed more from shaving nicks then he did from getting his face beat by this highly trained assassin. Throw me a bone.

First of all I can hardly keep from LOL at Christisall’s signiture. I must have spent 30 minutes laughing before I could even post.

Ok, now to other things, the new “The Day the Earth Stood Still” is a little disappointing but people probably need to catch it for themselves to judge what they think. “Twilight” I will have to say is a movie that my wife wanted to see and I tagged along. I think that I was one of two “guys” that were in the theater out of a group of about 40. It was good and what I would call a pretty good “date” flick. People should check it out.

The Star Trek movie trailer was good and so was the new Terminator ( minus Summer). Also The Spirit , with Samuel L. Jackson looked good and is a Frank Miller film.

Sorry I can’t continue, still laughing at the three Star Trek hipsters…..lol

I enjoyed it. Should be interesting watching the career of Seychille Gabriel, her only other role listed on imdb is "very attractive girl" on some tv show.
Plus, it had Sarah Paulson, only 4 years after Serenity.

A book that just screams out for a movie is H, Beam Piper's (anyone remember him?) "Space Viking". Or maybe even the "Little Fuzzy" series. Heck, anything from the "Terra-human future history" branch of his writing has great potential.

I'm not sure, but my son said that Dragonball was like a more mature version of Pokimon on steroids. I've never seen it myself so I can't confirm this. All I know is that, after two children, if I even hear "Picachu" I'm going to do something violent and very, very messy!

Saw something for an animation one call "9",...I like the looks of it. We had a trailer shown at our local con(Denver)in April, and I liked it then, hope its good.

IMDb has the trailer. Bruce certainly makes his share of science fiction films. From a future taxi driver that saves the Earth to chasing 12 monkeys. My favorite is "Unbreakable".
