SERENITY breaks atmo' and heads toward the crippled TRANQUILITY, hiding on a nearby moon.
SHADOW opens a channel:

shiny stands in the engine room listening to the mesmerizing hum of SERENITY'S engine. after a few minutes she decides to take a tour of the ship.
She turns around to leave the engine room and see's summer and storm looking at her.
Shiny, "hey guys, wanna walk around the ship with me?"
the twins nod Yes.
Shiny, "Good, lets go.
The three start walking around the ship.
Summer looking up say's, "The ship is sad, She has many stories that needs to be told."
Storm, "but the purple bellied FOX wouldn't listen."
Shiny puts her arm around summer, "well, Our love will keep her flying,then maybe one day her stories will be told."
Just then the lights flicker, She hears Captain Shout, "Shiny!"
Shiny, "I'm on it".
shiny runs back to the engine room and starts checking the engine, she tightens a few bolts, then shouts back, "everything Shiny!"

(Oreo steps into the bridge. Captain turns around and greets him)
Captian- well if it isn't our favorite reaver. Well, half reaver.
(Oreo stares out the bridge window with a grimace look on his face)
Captain- what's eatin you?
Oreo- Pathfinder.
(Captian looks at Oreo in confusion)
Captain- yeah, i know what you mean. We're not supposed to leave our own.
(Quickly oreo turns to Captian in a rage)
Oreo- NO! you ruttin idiot. That's piece of Fei-oo was to get me back my memories. Fix me up. We went through all that for no damn reason.
(Oreo kicks a canister and storms out off the brigde. o2 goes back to plotting his course)
Captain- it's like being on a ship with small, angry child.

Oreo, brushes past shiny and the twins.
Shiny turns to summer and storm,
Shiny, Why don't you guys go to the galley and wait for me ok.
Shiny calls out "Oreo!"
Oreo keeps walking but Shiny can tell he slowed his pace.
Shiny catches up to him, "Oreo, Whats wrong?"
Oreo hits the wall with his fist, "pathfinder was supposed to help me, What am I to do now?"
Shiny feeling Bad for Oreo puts her hand on his.
Shiny, "I promise, you will get your memories back. we will help anyway we can, I will do anything and everything I can for you, as long as you want me too."
Shiny kisses Oreo's check then says, "just don't hurt me.... again". Shiny walks to the galley.

SERENITY approaches the crippled TRANQUILITY on the small moon near ARIEL.
SHADOW:
"O2, KAT, do you read?"
...still no response.
SHADOW actives SERENITYS scanners to scan TRANQUILITY.
'all systems inactive.'
SHADOW:
"i hope they're still alive."
SHADOW 'coms the crew:
"ok all, prepare to board TRANQUILITY.
we will need to get in our space suits, her life support is down.
SHINY, you will need to find out how to at least get her limping again."
* no response *
SHADOW walks back to see if anyone is awake.
OREO, SHINY, STORM and SUMMER are all sleeping, exhausted from the long ordeal.
SHINY is snoring, OREO is talking in his sleep...
something about PATHFINDER.
SHADOW:
'lets go, wake up people. we've got crew need rescuin'"
everyone wakes up.
SUMMER:
"the path is unclear."
SHADOW says under his breath:
"your tellin' me little one."
SERENITY lands next to TRANQUILITY.
SHADOW, SHINY and OREO leave the ship in their suits and board TRANQUILITY to rescue KAT and O2.
the rescue team finds O2 and KAT both on the bridge, unconscious.
SHADOW:
"they're still alive. let's get them on SERENITY as fast as we can."
* thinking *
i'm glad we didn't wait for PATHFINDER any longer than we did, back at the shipyard. these two would probably have died.
the team carries O2 and KAT back to SERENITY and into the medlab.
SHADOW:
"SHINY, get back to TRANQUILITY and try to find out what's wrong over there."
OREO, stay with O2 and KAT, keep an eye on them."
SHADOW goes up to the bridge of SERENITY to call for help.
just then, a transmission comes in from the safe house on ARIEL from PATHFINDER.
"captain, i'm transmitting my initial findings on OREO'S scans from the hospital on ARIEL.
i will send you more results as we find them.
there are a few doctors in this safe house that are helping me intemperate the results."

(Shadow sits back and and begins to ponder to himself as Oreos data begins to upload to the ship computer)
Shadow- Pathfinder. He ain't at all worried bout being left behind?
(Just then shiny's voice chimes in over the com)

Tranquility is bad off. Its gonna take some time to get her running again.

(meanwhile back in the medlab. Oreo paces back and further. ever so often checking on kat and gives glances over to o2 as well)
Oreo- Ruttin pathfinder. It's his fault we're all in this mess. Him and that gorramn Alliance doc we run into back there.
(Oreo finally sits down on the ground muttering to himself, before dozing off)

*Inside the cave*
Claire: Hungry?
El: Yeah. I could ea.t
(Claire goes to hand El some emergency rations, then realizes El is staring at the entrance.)
Claire: What is it?
El: Something is out there.
(El hands Claire an assault rifle and grabs two pistols for himself)
El: Stay here. Remember, we're low on ammo.
(Just as El is the cave voice speaks up)
Voice: Elbarto are you in there?
El: Who are you? You give me any wrong answers and I start shooting.
Voice: I am an ally. I am of the desert guild, we are a branch of Sensei Ojin's spy network. May I come in?
El:(Thinking) Sensei's still up to his new tricks is he?
El: You and only you can come in. If I see a weapon in your hands I shoot.
(The Stranger walks in slowly hands at his sides.)
Voice: My name is Lao. Sensei Ojin recieved your message, and ordered us to come find you. We are to bring you back to our base. There you may contact Sensei.
(El stares at the man intently when he speaks, and sense no deception.)
El: Ok, lead on.

Ojin finishes the interrogation of the saboteur and returns to his office to review the data that was on the chip
that was smuggled to Aquila from Dust Planet through ShadowCaptain.
Incoming transmission from Desert Guild:
"We have located Elbarto and have deployed a team
headed by agent Lao to recover him.
Also, we have learned of a new shipment of chemicals that is scheduled to arrive soon heading to 'the WORM'
[ nickname of the underground Alliance base, given to it by members of the Desert Guild ].
This shipment is likely to be escorted by an Alliance squad.
Details as they become available."
Ojin sits back in his chair and smiles.

"O.k. Elbarto, we can help you get back to your ship or you can stay here and help us spy on 'the WORM'.
Ojin has sent us your security clearance.
You are as one of us."

"sensei, we have retrieved SERENITY for you, but TRANQUILITY is without power, and stranded on this little moon near ARIEL. request instruction."

"SHADOW, you and your crew are welcome to stay in SERENITY as long as you like. i will send a repair team to TRANQUILITYS location at once.
if you are in need of work, there is a convoy of ships scheduled to pick up settlers from COLONY STATION 1 during the next week. they will be settling on the newly terraformed moons in orbit around AQUILA. if you like, you can join the convoy to help move the settlers here. i may send the INDEPENDENCE from AQUILA and also welcome the rest of the firefly fleet to join in the move. there may not be much excitement but you can meet new people at the station and during the move."

Shiny on board Tranquility.
Shiny talking to self out loud,"Ta ma de".
for a second she got the power working then it shut off again. She takes out the compression coil and inspects it closely.
she looks at the engine, "talk to me".
Shiny seeming anoid that the engine isn't talking to her, put's the compression coil back into the compression block, the engine starts up again then sputters to a stop.
Shinys voice gets louder and madder with each word,
"Tzao gao,Hun dan,Ta ma de!"
She bends over the engine muttering to herself.

(shiny is fiddleing with tranquility's engine when a familar voice speaks out.)
Voice- I didn't know engines could talk?
(without looking back, shiny smiles and reply's)
Shiny- they do to me, side's how did you get over here Oreo.
(Oreo kneels down beside Shiny and picks up a wrench)
Oreo- Captain thought i could use some air. Had me put on a suit and basically jump from serenity over to here.He figured you was hungry. everone else done et already.
(Shiny takes the food form oreo and being to chow down.)
Shiny- Boy am i ever. I've been at this for five hours. Managed to get tranquilitys liw support up and going, but that about it.
Oreo- She's in pretty bad shape isn't she?
(Shiny swallows and nods her head.)
Shiny- the worst yet so far.
Oreo- should be able to get help once we get to aquila. Pretty sure their mechanic's can suss up the wrongs with tranquility.
(Shiny swallows another mouth full, then offers some to Oreo)
Shiny- Hey you want some.
(Oreo shoots shiny a look of doubt towards the food)
Oreo- May not remember a whole lot like i said, but i remember to stay away from the captain's cookin.
(Shiny trys to hold back a laugh but proves unsuccessful)
Shiny(still chuckling)- How long you figure we have to we reach aquilia.
Oreo- Heard tale, we should be there within the next day. Things going abit slow seeing as how we're towin.
Shiny- Thats good. I could use a hot bath.
(Oreo lowers his head to hide the flushed look on his face)
Shiny- Are you blushing? Mr big, Bad reaver blushing at the thought of me in a bath.
Oreo- What?! don't be crazy girl. Im just a little space sick. Come on finish eating and i'll help ya out round here.
(Shiny continues eating with a smile on her face while looking at oreo.)

Shiny finishes eating, then walks over to Oreo and takes the wrench from his hand.
Shiny,"so now you think I'm crazy?"
she turns her back to Oreo, looking at the engine.

Shiny, "oh, so you where blushing then?"
Oreo, "no, I...um, who cares if you want a bath or not.
Shiny, "so now you don't care, I see."
shiny is enjoying teasing Oreo, and cant wipe the smile off her face.
Oreo, thinking Shiny is serious.and getting a little upset.
Oreo," What has gotten into you!"
shiny turns around and Oreo can see her smiling.
Shiny, "you! now are you gonna help me or not?"
she walks over to a shelf and shuffles through her tools.

(shiny goes back to work continuing putting together a small cooling system for the engine. Oreo stands back, hoping that his assistance is needed)
Shiny- Okay, hopefully if i did this right, this'll keep the engine from over heating once we get tranquility's engine goin again.
(Oreo just stands staring at shiny. The ways she moves. The curves of her body. Acting on nothing more then impulse, oreo walks up behind and wraps his arms around her waist and begins kissing her neck.)

(a few hours pass, shiny and Oreo lay next to each other, out of breathe on the engine room floor)
Shiny- I see you finally got the nerve to show me how you feel.
(Oreo layes silent, but with a slight smirk on his face)
(suddenly the captian voice coms)
Captain- I hope you two ain't busy. We got an inbound reaver raiding ship. Looks like they're hungry.
(Shiny and oreo rush to get dressed again)
Shiny- Oh no, reavers. We get hit, we got nothing to defend ourselves here.
(Oreo grabs shiny, whos still half dressed and rushes to the cargo)
Oreo- Come on, we need to get suited up!

Shiny's trying to get the rest of her clothes on while Oreo is trying to suit her up.
Oreo, "Shiny forget about the rest of your clothes, If the reavers hit it's not gonna matter."
Shiny looks at Oreo knowing he's right lets him help her suit up.
Then she helps him suit up.
Shiny, "I hope you know what your doing?"
Oreo, "don't worry,just do as I say."
Shiny feeling sick with fear can only nod her head.

Oreo- Can we com Serenity?
Shiny- I'm not sure. I know we can recieve.

Captian? If you can hear me. Shiny and I are going to Jump ships.

(A sigh of relief calms the two when they hear the captain voice respond)
****Captain****
Are you insane? You'll never make it. Oreo, i don't know if you know about simple laws of physics, but the ship is moving forward. you're never make the jump without a sufficient amount of force.

(Shiny and Oreo stare at each other stunned.)
****Captain****
Yes, i have had schooling before. Try not to faint.

(Suddenly, oreo begins to act on an idea)
Shiny- What are you doing?
Oreo- Help get my gorramn helmet on.
(Shiny comply's)
Oreo- alright, we need pressureize this holding area.
Shiny- why?
Oreo- once it's pressureized, we open tranquility's main hatch and hopefully we get ejected out fast enough to be able to reach serenity.
(Nervously)
Shiny-Okay....but if we get ejected out as fast as serenity is goin, then we'll smash into her haul.
Oreo- I never said it was a perfect idea.
(Oreo coms the captain and lets him know of his idea. the captain orders kat to suit)

Okay captian.I'm suited and also got safety line ready as well.

Okay, they're almost ready. So be prepared.

(Oreo ties a harness around shiny and then himself. I blast from the reavers ship narrowly misses tranquilitys bow, but shakes the ship.)
Shiny- Oh god, oh god....
(Oreo grabs Shiny helmet)
Oreo- LOOK AT ME!
(Shiny begins shaking but looks into oreo's eyes)
Oreo- Now, i'm pretty sure we've been in tighter spots then this alright, we'll make it. I won't let go of you.
(Shiny wraps her arms around oreo. Oreo, not wasting anymore time, presses a release button and the tranquility hatch opens and the two are ejected with great force towards serenity)

Okay, heads up. Shiny and oreo are on their way

(kat who has just achored herself to the outside of serenity coms back)

I see them. but they are begining to drift off course. Serenity need to tilt to the stern or i'm gonna miss'em

Shiny holding on tight to Oreo.
She turns her head and see's, they are drifting off course of serenity.
Shiny scared out of her mind, see's her life flash before her eyes.
She remembers playing catch with her dad, something they did every night after dinner.
Mom sitting on the porch watching and laughing.
shiny can still remember the smell of her glove..
A sadness overwhelms her as she clings onto Oreo.
then fear steps in she doesn't want to die,
not with they way things are with Oreo,
plus there's her family always in the back of her mind.
Shiny starts kicking her legs in some lame attempt to help guide her and Oreo towards the serenity.
shiny can hear Oreo yelling at her, but grateful
she cant make out his words.

(in the underground base)
(Elbarto is heading towards the armory to find Claire. After all they have been through a real relationship has sprout between them. Claire is now on short list of people El trusts, even though she still refuses to call him Elbarto. Walking next to El is Lao. The two had spent a lot of time talking to each other the past few days, and El genuinely liked him.)
Lao: You know I still want a rematch.
El: I only beat you by one point out of 78. It's not my fault that you were knocked out when your head hit the wall.
(They were talking about their knife fight and hand to hand combat matches. El is currently in the lead by one point. El is a better martial artist, but Lao's knife techniques are second to none.)
Lao: Still.... Have you made your decision to stay here with us.
El: I would love to stay here with my fellow warriors, but my crew is my blood. Maybe I don't have to make that decision. Tranquility has some interest in what the Alliance is cooking up, maybe we can join forces.
Lao: Sounds like a good idea. Everybody seems to have a common enemy these days. How would you like to make your ties to us stronger, to me specifically.
El: You mean the oath of brotherhood? That hasn't been done in years, but I'll do it. Nothing will bring me greater honor.
Lao: Nor me. We will have the ceremony tonight.
(El and Lao reach the armory, and see Claire in there cleaning an assault rifle. El wasn't lying about loving this base, everyone worked, and everyone fought. Nothing was wasted. It had an order to it that civilian life can't accomplish.)
El:(Noticing Claire.) Damn girl, you look good holding a gun.
Lao: Yeah she does.
El: Hey, she's mine.
Claire: You two.... I'm just glad I can contribute.
El: Chow's in a little while dear. I thought we could go for a run.
Claire: Ok, lets go.
(Later that night, the ceremony is held. Lao and El both take oaths, and become sworn brothers to each other. Once the oaths are taken, it becomes as if they were born together, shared the same childhood, and had the same parents.)

(Kat shouts into her com)
Kat-Serenity needs a full tilt or else i'm gonna miss'em
(captain turns to o2)
Captain- what can you do?
o2- well with these reavers bearing dwon right on top us and and us lugging tranquility there isnt much i can do, unless we dump tranquility.
(Captain responds with anger in his voice)
Captain- that's not an option!
o2- then i'm pretty sure you're make a nice blazer for one of those reavers, cause that looks like whats going to happen to us. One more blast from theirs cannon and we're dead in the water.
(the captain places his hand on the control console and lets out a deep sigh)
Captian- I'll Hop onto the cortex and try and find somewhere out of the where an well hidden.
(the captain moves over the cortex and brings a map on the verse onto the screen)
captain- There! Head for this moon. $th one out from Aquila!
o2- Gui'jin! But that planet aint nothing but cutthroats and thieves. Plus those trigger happy morons are sure as likely to shot us out of the sky!
(The captain shoots o2 a loks seriousness)
captain- On the north side of the planet there is heavey brush and trees lines, we can drop and tranquility there and hopefully no one will find her!
o2- and the trigger happy , gun tottin folks?
Captain- well, i reckon we can use them to get these reaver off our tail!
o2- what about Shiny,Oreo and kat!
Captian- Can you pitch Serenity just enough to line up with them?!
o2- Pretty sure. but if kat misses we ain't gonna be able to try again!
Captain- Just do it!
(captain gets back onto the com)
captain- oKay kat, o2 is going to pitch serenity just enough to get us lined back up with Oreo and shiny. But you're going to have one shot and one shot only Dong ma?
(kat coms)
kat- Shoo uh!
(Serenity begins to pitch and line back up with Oreo and Shiny. Oreo, notices a bright glare coming off the left side haul of serenity. Quinting his eyes, he notices that it's kat, holding a saftely line with harness clip at the end of it. Oreo taps shiny on the helmet and points towards kat. instantly a smile appears on shiny's face.)
(Kat coms the Captain)
kat- okay captain, hold it there, i see them and they're almost in range.
(Kat waits until the perfect moment and then swings the saftely towards Oreo and shiny. Oreo reaches one arms towards the saftely line. finger fully extended and taking deep breathe's. shiny, repeats to herself over and over)
Shiny- Please catch it, please catch it, Please....
(Shiny closes her eyes, and suddnely a heavy tug stops them from floating. shiny opens her eyes to see oreo hanging onto the clip. As oreo struggles to attach the harness to theeir's Oreo begins to Recite a poem. Shiny, stares at him, reading his lips)

(Shiny eyes sadden, not taking her eyes off of Oreo)
Shiny- Oreo.
(Suddenly the shock wave from the blst of the reavers cannon jolts Serenity and the crew. kat is knocked from her perch and is dangling down the side of the ship. Shiny's grip tightens around oreo, but something is wrong. Shiny, looks back up at Oreo. The inside of the glass in Oreo's visor is covered in blood. And Small spider cracks begins to spread.
(Shiny tries to shake Oreo but no response)
Shiny- Oreo, come on! Wake up. We gotta go!
(o2 situates himself once more at Serenitys Controls)
o2- captain, I think they're getting board! That last blast was to close for comfort!
captain- Tell me something I don't know!
(Standing back up onto his feet after the blast from the reaver ship, the captain coms kat)

Shiny quickly unfastens him from the safety line.
Oreo slumps on the floor.
The Captain starts taking off Oreo's helmet.
Captain, "What in the sphincter in hell happened?"
Shiny, " I don't know? but It ain't good"
Shiny quickly get up.
I'm getting Kat, We need to get out of here.
Shiny heads to the hatch, she opens it fast and looks around for Kat.
Shiny, "Kat!"
Shiny, hears Kats voice.
Shiny pulls herself up and See's Kat limping with
with the harpoon sticking out of her leg.
(Kat had already cut the line to the harpoon).
Shiny pulls herself onto the hull and runs over to
Kat dodging the harpoons.
Shiny grabs Kat, throwing kats arm around her neck and runs back to the hatches opening.
shiny pushes Kat down the Hatch first
then shiny jumps in
closing the hatch behind her.
Shiny grabs Kat and heads for sick bay.
Shiny,"Kat, your bleeding pretty bad."
shiny see's the twins watching, "you guys go to the galley Ok,"
Shiny enters the sick bay and see's Oreo, laying on a table.
Shiny helps Kat onto the other one.
Kat, "what happened out there?"
Shiny, "not sure. But we need to get out of here
or we won't live to find out."
Shiny coms capt, "Kats safe, lets get out of here."
shiny grabs a towel and hands it to kat.
"put this on your leg I will be right back.
Shiny heads to the engine room and grabs a pair of pliers. and returns to sick bay.
Kat looks at shiny," um..Shiny?"
Shiny, pouring antiseptic onto the pliers.
Shiny, "I need to remove the harpoon and, well this is the best Ive got."
Shiny walks over to Kat, "this is gonna hurt but it needs to be done."
Shiny pushes the hair out of her eyes.
thinking to self(i'm glad it's not a big harpoon)
Shiny grabs onto the harpoon with the pliers and in one swift motion yanks the harpoon free.
Kat yells out in pain.
Shiny quickly puts a towel on kats wound.
she has Kat apply pressure as shiny gets out the needle to stitch kats leg.
shiny, "sorry kat, now i need to stitch you up."
Kat not looking happy,"are you sure you know what your doing?"
shiny," Yeah, Path taught me real well, just hold still."
Shiny concentrates real hard as she stitches up Kat. but she can't help glancing over at oreo once in awhile.
Shiny," your done Kat, just go easy, no jumping jacks."shiny smiles.
Then walks over to Oreo. she starts wiping the blood from his face.
the captain had bandage Oreos head but shiny
needs to re-do it. she slowly starts taking off the bandage but her vision gets blurred by her tears.
Kat," Shiny are you ok?"
Shiny, can't speak.
Kat, "Iv'e not seen you like this."
shiny, turns around and looks at Kat,
"i can't do this."
Shiny leaves the room.
Kat looks at Oreo, "what have you done now?"
kat slides off her table grabs fresh dressings
for Oreo wound and starts cleaning him up.

(Shiny sits down on the floor, holding head between her knees. kat continues to wipe blood from Oreo’s face.)
Kat- what have you done this time Oreo?
(The captain makes his way to the cargo hold)
Captain (talking to himself)- what are you looking for shadow?
(Shadow walks over to where Oreo’s suit is lying and picks it up and begins to inspect. Blast from the Reavers ship, knocking things about the cargo hold, Captain continues to inspect the suit, hoping to find the answers he's looking for. Suddenly the captain comes across an interesting turn in the situation)
Captain- Well ain't that something?
(The captain turns and hurries back to the infirmary. Kat is wrapping bandages around Oreo head when he notices shiny on the floor. He quickly glances at kat and makes his way towards shiny.)
Kat- what’s wrong Captain?
(The captain kneels down next to shiny and begins inspecting shiny suit)
Shiny (weakly)- I know captain; I’ll take it off in a minute.... Just need to catch my breath....
Captain- that’s not what I’m looking for.
(The captain finds a small hole in her suit.)
Captain- take off your suit now!
(Shiny suddenly becomes embarrassed, suddenly remembering she was still only half dressed underneath her suit)
Shiny- I can't...
Captain- shiny, I don't have time to argue! In bout a moments time, them Reavers is gonna stop playing cat and mouse games with us and completely tear us down to scrap. I need to figure out what happened to my crew and get back on the bridge, so's we can get to workin on savin our skins. Dong ma?
(Shiny takes her suit off. The captain takes in a deep breathe, his face a slight red-ish color from the situation at hand.)
Captain- Wow! Hey! Flesh...
(A shiny proceeds to finish removing her suit. the captain noticing that there is more bare flesh then he thought, diverts his head away.)
Captain- I take it you and Oreo?
Shiny (weakly)- yes captain...
(The Captain pulls a blanket out of a cupboard and places it around shiny. Then quickly checking the area on shiny that the hole in the was, he finds a poison dart jutting from the back of her calf.)
Captain-jung chi duh go-se dway!
(Captain pulls kat away from Oreo)
Captain- Get Shiny up on the table!
Kat- Wha, why?
Captain- just Do It!
(With great pain, kat picks up shiny and places her on the table. Instantly shiny begins to convulse.)
Kat-What happening to Her?
Captain- She was hit by a poison dart of some kind.
Kat- how could she have survived? The dart would have made a hole in the suit and being out there in the black she would have....
Captain-Died? Oreo made sure she didn't. He was feeding his oxygen into her suit. It held long enough to get her onboard.
Kat- But, Oreo?
captain- on conscience i reckon.lack of oxygen.
kat- what about the blood?
captain- Might have happened during that blast. Head could've bounced off the glass in the helmet, who knows.
(shiny begins shaking violently. Kat tries to pin her down.)
kat- captain, she's going into shock!
(the captain open a drawer and pulls out a syringe needle, filled with adrenaline and jabs it straight into shiny heart. The adrenaline istantly takes affect, calming the convulsion's.)
kat- Is that it? is she gonna be alright?
captain- Far from it. You stay here with'em let me know if anything changes.
(The captain rushes out and heads for the bridge.)
o2- Where have you been? It ain't looking pretty up here! We have taken a hit to our right side engine! One more and we're done!
Captain- go for full burn! And head For Gui'jin!
We got dump tranquility, Then the Reavers and get to Aquila as fast as possible!

Shiny feels the adrenaline hit her.
Here eyes open as her body jumps, she see's Kat staring at her.

(kat limps over to the counter looking for more bandages and pain killers when a noise strartles her. She whips around and finds oreo had disappeared. She drops the bandages and quickly limps over to the com)
Kat(coms captain)- He's Gone!
captain- Who's Gone?
Kat- Oreo! I turned my head for a second and now he's gone!
Captain- alright, stay put i'm on my way!
(The captain shouts orders to o2 as he exits off the bridge)
Captain- Keep full burn and as soon as we hit atmo com me!
o2- aye!
(Kat turns around to check on shiny, but ends up, face to face with the Reaver side of Oreo. kat presses herself as much as she can against the wall)
Kat- Or...eo...you're...okay now. You're on the ship now.
(Oreo keeps his eyes trained on Kat for a few seconds before turning around and seein shiny. A tear forms and rolls down his cheek. Suddenly he snaps back and lets out a ferious screeching growl and picks Kat up by the throat, and throwing her against the far wall. kat scrambles to her feet but is quickly knocked back down by a blown from a desk chair. Kat spits up blood and tries to calm Oreo.)
Kat- Oreo! What is wrong With you! We didn't do that to her! The Reavers did! Remember!
(Oreo picks up a metallic cutting instrument and advances towards Kat. Evil in his eyes. Death on his mind. Kat tries to crawl away, but her wound and her recent injuries hinder her.)
Kat- I Don't wanna Die! We didnt do that to her!

As O2 fires the engines for full burn, a loud explosion comes from the right engine of SERENITY.
O2: "That would be the starboard engine dying."
SERENITY starts to yaw to the right

O2 compensates but has trouble. He has to cut back on the port side engine to avoid losing control totally.
Just then a second reaver ship cuts them off at their "12 o'clock".

Prepare to be boarded... that means everyone get a weapon. I won't kid you, we'll be vastly out numbered, these ships are huge.

The 1st reaver ship pulls up alongside Serenity.
It fires its magnetic grapplers at Serenity and captures her in its grasp.
Shadow: "Here they come, stand ready"!
Shadow looks out the porthole and sees into the 1st reaver ships window, now parallel to Serenity and just feet away.
He sees dozens and dozens of black clad, scarred, bloodied reavers screaming with their weapons drawn, waiting to board Serenity and feast on her crew.
Another sound... a muffled explosion.
* everyone thinking *
Well this is how it ends.
* silence for a moment *
* hearts beating *
Shadow is waiting near the bay door - were the reavers will enter 1st.
Kat is across from Shadow, weapons drawn.
Oreo is growling, ready for blood.
Storm and Summer are hidden in a secret compartment were Kat told them to hide.
Shiny is the luckiest... still unconscious.
O2 has barred the door to the bridge.
The 2nd reaver ship, the one blocking Serenity from the bow [at her 12 o'clock], bursts into flame from the stern.
A moment later, when the fireball and debris dissipate, a new ship comes into view. 
The Independence - refitted as a gunship, comes about and heads for the 1st reaver ship - the one that is grappled to Serenity.
"This is Captain Hilo of the Firefly Independence, hailing reaver ship grappled to firefly ship Serenity. Disengage your attack or we will destroy you."
Hilo thinks:
The 2 ships are so close that any attack on the reaver ship will jeopardize Serenity... but there is no choice, they are all dead in moments anyway.
There is no other option.
The Indy fires a warning shot across the bow of the reaver ship.

Shiny keeps drifting in and out of conciseness.
she turns her head and looks were she had thought
Oreo and Kat where, but see's no one.
She realizes she's alone in the room.
she try's to move her legs , but can't.
she's starting to feel like she's on fire.
Shiny removes the blanket that the Captain had given her in hopes to cool off but its not working.
Shiny is weak and still unsure of what is Happening to her.
The last thing she remembers is the captain giving her the blanket.
she passes out Again.

She presses her forehand against the glass and lets out a sigh of relief, but is instanstaniously startled by Oreo, who's begins beating his fists against the glass. Kat, quickly limps to the bridge to let the captain know whats going on. More blast rock serenity. Loose cargo, slides about and falls off selves. Kat wonders, if the reavers were attacking. She quickens her pace hoping that the captain had a plan)

the reaver ship detaches from SERENITY, and leaves the area.
SHADOW runs to the bridge.
"O2, open up."
the door unlocks then opens.
"O2, hail the INDEPENDENCE."
O2 raises the INDY.
CAPTAIN HILO answers:
"INDEPENDENCE HERE, CAPTAIN HILO at your service."
SHADOW:
"thanks. how'd you know we needed help?"
HILO:
"we didn't, but we had a good idea. AQUILA control picked up a reaver raiding party on the edge of their radar reception range, heading your way.
SENSEI OJIN diverted us from our original mission - escorting the colony fleet leaving COLONY STATION 1.
they where heading to one of the moons near AQUILA.
now they'll have to wait for us to get back. OJIN doesn't want the fleet of new colonists to be 'easy game' for reavers."
SHADOW:
"so, how'd you get clearance from the ALLIANCE to mount all those guns?"
HILO:
"well, the ALLIANCE lost a lot of medical personnel in a big explosion at their main med facility on ARIEL -
i'm sure you had nothing to do with that.
so OJIN cut a deal basically:
we ship out doctors to them - and they give us permission to 'arm' 2 transport ships for use as colony escorts.
plus the ALLIANCE likes to look like their protecting their citizens."
SHADOW:
"...and a good thing for us.
by the way, how'd you get that name?"
HILO:
"it's the name of the island my family came from back on 'earth that was', many years ago.
well, lets get that ship of yours, TRANQUILITY, fixed up. you're welcome to stay and help if you like.
OJIN may ask you to help escort the colonists when we're done fixin' TRANQUILITY.
he still can 'arm' 1 more ship... that is if you and your crew are up for it!?"
SHADOW:
"shiny, i'll talk to my crew and see were we stand. SHADOW out."
SHADOW walks to the galley, pulls up a chair and waits for company.
KAT comes into the galley, after checking the bridge for the captain, and tells SHADOW about OREO.
the two run down to see what the situation is.

........Shiny still Dreaming.....
As shiny's sitting on the rock
over looking the ocean. She feels
a great calm.
But all of a sudden the sky gets dark
black clouds start rolling in.
She starts hearing thunders in the distance
and see's lighting. It's getting louder as it gets closer.
Shiny gets up and starts running
looking for shelter but there's none.
the sky opens up and starts raining hard
lighting is striking all around her
the wind is blowing hard
she's having a hard time seeing her way
she's wet and cold
she's stranded alone and scared.
Shiny wakes up out of her dream, sweating
and scared. her heart is racing.
the dream seemed all to real.

Shiny(whispers to herself)- I hope you didn;t do it.
(again, she turns her head and dazes off into nothingness. So many thoughts racing through her head. She can remember when she first came aboard serenity. shiny begins having flashbacks)
Captain- So you're a mechanic? Kind of a young'en ain't you?
Shiny- I just seem to have a knack for fix'in engines. They talk to me.
(Captain stares at shiny in confusion)
Captain- they talk to you?
Shiny- yeah, you know. They let me know when they're sick, they let we know when things are alright...
Captain- Well if you can get this engine fixed and goin, you can talk to it all you like.
(Shiny smiles at the comment, knowing there was a little skeptisivem behind.)
(Shiny snaps back to reality after hearing a noise at the infirmary doors. The captain and kat peer through the window at shiny and then at Oreo. The captain slowly opens the doors and begins whispering to kat)
Captain- okay, we'll tie him and put'em in lock up still we can get him some help.
(shiny stars at the ceiling, mustering up as much energy as she can.)
Shiny- its okay...he's dead
(Kat walks careful over to oreo, checking his vitals)
Kat- Not dead. But it looks like he pumped enough morphine into his body to knock him out.
captain- He used all the morphine?!
(kat limps over and checks the drawer the the morphine shots where contained in)
Kat- Theres a few left. enough to at least get shiny to a med facility.
Captain-oaky. kat get to the bridge and have o2 plot a course to aquila, we'll get shiny to a doctor, hopefully get one for Oreo. get you checked out as well, then go back to Gui'jin and get Tranquility.
(kat turns and limps out of sight heading towards the brigde)
(captain turns back to shiny)
captain- how you fairing?
Shiny- I don't know. I have nightmares. I'm scared.
(The captain takes hold of shiny's hand)
Captian- It's good to be scared. person don't know fear ain't human. You're human. You been through alot for a genius mechanic.BUt we're heading to aquila and we'll get you a doctor and have you talking to enignes in no time.
Shiny- you're a good captain.
Captain- No i'm not, i mean, old and like to drink on an occassion or another.
(Shiny flashes a grin but the grin quickly fades. shes turns her head back to Oreo)
Shiny- he's getting worse. so much more worse.
(Captain tightens his grip on shinys hand)
Captain- Shiny, I can go about tellin you how to live your life, but i think it best you stay away from him.
(Shiny tries to pull her hand away, but her lack of energy hinders her attempt)
Shiny- why? he won't hurt me.
Captain- and you're probably right, seeing as how he didn't tear you to piece being locked in here with him, ut still i can't take that chance. He needs to be helped, but for us and him is to keep him locked up still we reach aquila.
(shiny looks back up towards the ceiling)
Shiny- he'll probably escape. He's good at that.
Captain- I'm under the notion that he won't. Could've gotten out here easy enough if he wanted to.
(The captain rests shiny's hand back down by her side and walks over to oreo picking him up. after a few struggles the captain manages and begins to walk out of the infirmary.Shiny suddenly speaks out, asking the captain a question)
Shiny- Captain?
(Captain turns around)
Captian- yeah.
(Shiny hesitates at first)
Shiny- do you thinks he's scared?
(Captain lets out a sigh)
Captian- I don't reckon so. Man who been through what he's been through. The things he's seen and done. Figure there wouldn't be nothing left to be scared of.
Shiny-....not....human.
(The captain sifts his eyes away and back

but she doesn't want to break his trust.
Shiny knows what she has to do, this time
she's following her head,
her heart gets her into trouble.

She can't wait to get moving around again.

(the med team enters the infirmary. Doc.t hokowa gives directions to the rest of his staff to gently pick up shiny and place her on a rolling gerny)
Hokowa- Okay, gently now. We must hurry, the poison that reavers use tend to faster if the host body is active.
(doc turns to the capt who is standing in the infirmary door way)
Doc- you did well. By all accounts,she should be dead. But i'm pretty sure with the medical supplies we have here and time,she'll pull through with little to no side effects.
(Captain unfolds his arms and walks up to Hokowa)
Captain- Little to no side effects?
Hokowa- Well, reaver poisons tends to directly attack the nervous system causing lose of body functions, arms, legs and the like. But it's only temperary.
Captain- that doesn't sound to bad.
Hokowa- Its gets bad. The poison is made up of severly elements. but so far only to have been identified.
Captain- and those to elements are?
Hokowa- the first is a nerve agent called syndigide. its basically a drug that dope a victim, sends then to a happy before the real effects begin.
Captain- and the second...
Hokowa- Erythrocytes of Revictus Humanius.
(The captain shoots Hokowa a stupified look. Hokawa rolls his eyes and adjusts his stance.)
Hokowa- Reavers are using their own red blood cells in their poisons.
Captain- What!
Hokowa-Those lucky enough when ejected,die. and those unlucky, we've been noticing some adverse affects.
Captain- Adverse affects. How do you mean?
Hokowa- Well, in some previous cases, victims became very hostile, violent, but all ended with suicide. in one very special case, the victim began turning.
Captain- Into a reaver?
Hokawa- the victim developed what we have come to call "Reaver Vamperism". Basically, the victim had more of a thirst for blood then human flesh.
Captain- What about cutting into his/her skin?
Hokowa- Very little. The victim, for the most part had the same symptoms of an old earth that was myth of a Vampire or Dracula. Sensitivty to lights, hunger for blood and so on. The victim lived for about a month, before meeting the same fate as the others.
Captain- Do you think that could happen to shiny?
Hokowa- Well you did a fine job supressing it, so, we should be able to knock it out of her.
Captain- and Oreo.
Hokowa- Oreo?! Oreo is...Special. From what little information i have on him, he's more like a werewolf. able to change from his human form to reaver. Guess the alliance wanted him to be able to blend in. But, seeing as how i don't know exactl what they did to him, I have to say there is no way to make him better, all i can do is help him manage it. You want a cure, you'll have to take that up with the Alliance.So for right now, We'll get in and start taking care of shiny, i'll have Oreo put in a maxium lock-up with security at all hours until i can get to him. Hopefully that'll keep everyone safe.
(Hokowa and the captain exit the ship and enter the med facility)

Shiny opens her eyes. She doesn't recognize
where she's at. she hears faint voices.
She looks at one of the assistants.
Shiny,"where am I?
Assistants, " don't talk, your in good hands
we need you save your energy."
The doctor grabs a needle and starts injecting shiny.
She feels a burning sensation running through her veins.
She Hears the captains voice in the background talking with someone.
Shiny can only hears a few broken sentences.
But it sounds like the Captain is worried
that Shiny could turn reaver.
Shiny feeling sick try's to yell out to the captain but it only comes out to a whisper.
the assistant doctor, puts his hand on shiny's arm
Assistant Doctor, You need to relax.
the doctor gets another needle and injects shiny in the arm.
Shiny, What happened to me?
At that point the Doctor that was talking to the
captain walks over to shiny.
Hokowa, "You where shot by reavers with a poison dart".
Shiny groggy and getting sleepy fast, asks,
"am i a reaver? Shiny drifts off to sleep
before the doctor can answer.
Shiny starts having nightmares....

(A klaxon alert begins to sound throughout the facility)
Captain- What in the verse is going on?!
(A med staff memeber running by responds)

(The captain stands confused.)
Captain(talking to himself)- The defenses here alone can handle any reaver attack...
(The captain suddenly realizes, that its not reavers, but, reaver.)
Captain- OREO!
(The captain takes off running in the direction all the sercuity personel is running in. Not to far down the hallway o2 catches up to the captain)
o2- ITS OREO!
Captain- TELL ME SOMETHING I DON"T KNOW! WE GOTTA GET TO HIM BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE HAPPENS! GO FIND AS MUCH MORPHINE AS YOU CAN CARRY!
o2- MORPHINE!
Captain- IT'S THE ONLY THING SHORT OF KILLING HIM, THAT'LL KNOCK HIM OUT! GET GOING!
(Back in the cell, the room fills with security guards. Oreo, still back into a corner, watching all the movement going on, like a animal waiting to pounce upon it's Prey)
Oreo(In a deep voice)- Where is the girl?! Where is Shiny?!
Security Guard 34(Pointing his weapon towards Oreo)- STAND DOWN!

Shiny continues to have a recurring nightmare
Of being chased in the dark.
Its the same thing over and over again.
It's pitch black out.
She has no Idea were she's at or
who's chasing her.
Right before she gets caught, she falls, gets up and starts running all over again.
But this time she feels someone grab her, and shouts her name, "SHINY"!
Shiny wakes up and sits up instantly she's sweating
her adrenaline is pumping. Without thinking she starts pulling out all the tubes in her arms.
she starts to swing her legs of the gurney, forgetting that thas was impossiable to do hours ago. A nurse comes running over.
Nurse, "what are you doing?!"
Shiny, "I need to find My Captain and Oreo".
Nurse, " you can't do that, the doctor says you
still need your rest!
Shiny looks at the Nurse, "you'd better lower your tone, I'm in no mood.
Sides I've had enough rest to last a life time.
Shiny tries to stand up but gets dizzy.
The nurse grabs shiny.
Nurse, You can't leave, not yet!
Shiny see's people running past the doorway.
Shiny, "whats going on?"
Nurse, "We seem to be having a problem with
a reaver".
Shiny worried, "he's not a reaver! he's Oreo,
My....my crew mate. I need to see him.
Nurse,"No you don't your staying here".
The nurse guides shiny back onto the gurney.
Shiny mad ,but knowing she's in no position to argue lays back down.
Shiny, "Nurse Am I infected with reaver blood?
Nurse, "reaver blood cells and yes You where, but I'm pretty sure we took care of it, But we still need to monitor you closely".
Shiny, pretty sure?.
Nurse," the doctor will let you know more details
when all the test results come back.
The nurse, starts hooking the tubes back into shiny.
Shiny lays there in defeat, Missing Oreo.
Shiny thinking, gorram Oreo, Why can't I get you outta my head.

"O2, here, you take this morph back to the doctors for OREO, i'll download these results of OREOS tests,
and bring them back as soon as they finish downloading."
SHADOW turns back to the screen and waits for the download to finish.

Shiny lays on the gurney lost in her thoughts,
When Doctor Hokowa walks in.
Doctor Hokowa walks over to the nurse,
He's holding a folder and talking quietly
to the nurse. they both glance over at Shiny.
Shiny,"So Doc you gonna tell whats going on?
Doctor Hokowa walks over to Shiny, He opens
The folder and looks at Shiny.
He grabs a stool and sits next to the gurney.
Shiny,"Doc just tell me Plain and simple. Is reaver running threw my veins?"
Doctor Hokowa, "most of your tests came back negative. But one is inconclusive, We need to run more tests." The Doctor gets up walks over to the nurse and hands her the folder. Looks at shiny
and walks out the door. The nurse walks over to shiny and starts drawing more blood.
Shiny," which test in inconclusive?
The nurse glances at the door then at shiny.
"It's nothing to be concerned about, I'm sure
once we run more tests we'll find nothing."

(o2 hurridley makes his way back into the facility, hoping he wasn't late. Minutes later, o2 bumpes into a crowd of security guards. Voice shouting at something or someone to" You reaver,get down or we'll shoot". o2 just laughs to himself. Shoot? You're shoot alright, but only at a wall or chair. Nine times outta ten ol'Oreo already had a plan to escape, he was just looking for the right moment.
Suddenly a voice that seemed to drown out the almost hundred bodied army could be heard. "Hey! What are you doing? Stop! NOOO!" o2 knew that other then escape that reaver had a knack for bowling over ya like a Nuclear Driven 380 starrider with upgrades in a space rally. As if moses had come back to life to part a sea, bodies again lungeing out of the way.
Quickly the figure of a pissed off half breed came into focus. o2, quickly avoiding the rushing reaver dives outta the way to avoid get trampled. Oreo kncokes over a group of doctors and a few nurses before disappearing out of site around a corner. o2 stands up to his feet, taking a quick second to check if any of the syringes had broken.
A voice comes over the med facilities P.A system. "Attention all personal, we have a rogue patient on the loose, please stay in your rooms and do not get in the way of the sercurity officers." A rush of slamming doors could be heard throughout the hallways. Within minutes the hallways were empty, except for a few guards heading for either lower or upper floors. o2 stood, not really knowing what to do, lucky the captain was getting off the elevators adjacent from where o2 was standing.
What is going on? the captain exclaimed. o2 looked up to the captain stillholding the leather scatchel with the morphine tightly. It's oreo. He's loose and somewhere in the facility. The captain rubs his forehead as if a headaches were coming on. That rotten reaver. Theres always trouble with that piece.... okay, come on, we gotta find him before anything else happens. The pair take off in stride not really knowing where to go.
Back in shiny's rooms, the nurse places the file on a deck on the other side of the room. Shiny hoping something would suddenly divert the nurse's attention from the file.not soon after she had thought it, a the captain and o2 burst i the room. "Shiny! Are you alright?", the captain says with worry in his voice. "Yeah, i'm fine. Why?" replies a wide eyed shiny. It oreo, his loose and everyone with a gun is after him. we kinda figured he'd be looking for you, so we cam here first." the captains says with a winded sigh. o2, places a hand on the captain's shoulder. We better get going. other places to look. The captain, nods his head the pair leave, with the nurse closly in tow. Shiny watches as the door closes shut, then turns her attentions to a manilla folder sitting on a desk.

She starts looking around the room for her clothes
Dammit she says out loud, Remembering she doesn't

starts reading, It doesn't make any sense to her.

She grabs some surgical tape and tapes the folder against her stomach she then wraps a sheet around her.
She them slowly opens the door and looks down the hallway both ways. Then starts running looking for an exit.
Shiny can hear the sound of running everywhere.
Shiny finds and exit and takes it.
Once outside shiny can see Serenity.
Shiny runs into the cargo bay and stops dead in her tracks.
Shiny, "Who are you and What are you doing Here?"
The fellow, "I'm looking for passage and already
spoke to your captain, It seems i will be traveling with yous for awhile." My names Michael O'Sneary.
Michael hold out his hand to shake shinys.
Shiny holding tight with both hands to the Sheet that's wrapped around her.

Shiny, "I need to get some clothes on, Shiny turns around as she enters the hallway.

Michael spun on the spot, looking about, taking in the jumble of gear and kit lying about the cargo bay.
After a few moments of apparent silence, O'Sneary knelt, opened his case and selected a few smaller throwing knives that would fit easily inside his suit. The large Bowie knife, and a machete strapped to his back, he returned to the case. He closed it, spun the combo lock, and stood up. Earlier he'd noticed a narrow gap between two heavy crates. He shoved the case down between them, almost his arm's length and into the shadows.
O'Sneary walked briskly from the cargo bay into the common area the captain had pointed out earlier. He selected a seat that seemed least likely to be someone's favorite- it was a rickety ladderback chair missing a few rungs. Careful not to crease his suit, he sat, removed his bowler and hooked it on his knee, and began to whistle an old Earth-That-Was hymn.
Here was a good place to wait to meet the crew and passengers.

on the way there, SHADOW is intercepted by SENSEI OJIN.

"SHADOW, i have received word that your ship TRANQUILITY is breaking atmo' and should be docking here shortly."
SHADOW:
"thanks for everything."
SHADOW turns to go...
OJIN:
"Beware of greeks bearing gifts."

SHADOW returns to SERENITY and sees MICHAEL sitting in the galley.
SHADOW pulls up a chair across the room from MICHAEL, spins it around backwards,
and sits down - arms leaning on the back.

meanwhile, back at the ARIEL SAFEHOUSE,

(Flashback of Oreo at 10 years old playing with his father in a beautiful park.)
young skye: come on daddy chase me!

(Suddnely The flashback turns into a nightmare.The sky turns dark. instantly skye finds himself alone.)
young skye: Daddy?! Where Are you?! Daddy?!
(Skye begins to run, but only into darkness. skye stops and drops to his knees and begins to cry.)

(As if time sped up. Skye is suddenly his normal self. Surrounded by Alliance Doctors. He also finds himself strap down to an operating table. Fears fills Oreo's eyes. He watches the doctors talking, but can't hear the words come out. A nurse, that seemed to just appear out of thin air covers oreos eyes with a blind fold. It's dark. Darker then any space. Darker then any evil thought.No sound, except for Oreos heavy breathing. No sound, no light. Oreo tries reaching out in front of him to feel his way around. nothing but emptiness, nothing but...a smell. What smell? The smell of...Death. Suffering. Reavers! Reavers surround Oreo, snarling, and screeching. The smell of blood all around. Oreo turns in circles. surrounded! Then suddenly, face to face with a mirror image of himself. No reavers. no Alliance. just Himself and Himself starring back at him. Oreo moves in closer confused. Was it a mirror or was it actually him. Oreo stops, nose to nose with himself.)
Oreo- Who are you?
(The mirror image says nothing, just stares back at oreo. Oreo frustrated, oreo asks again)
Oreo- WHO ARE YOU?!
( Within a blink of eye the mirror image has a gun pressed to Oreo's forehead)
Mirror Oreo- Who am I? Is it clear to see? I'm You.
(The mirror image pulls the trigger firing a bullet through oreo forehead, but it wasn't blood spilling out the back. No, not blood, but, memories. Memories of family, past friends, enemies, crew mates, life...and what hes become. suddenly faints voices can be heard)
Voice- Clear!...Okay, take it up to 8. Reading....Clear!
(bright lights begin taking focus as oreo begins to his eyes. Doctors and nurse surround him, giving sighs of relief. One doctor in general llleans down towards Oreo)
Doctor- Welcome back Oreo. It's a good thing too, your cpatain probably would've had us shot if we lost you.
(Oreo blinks a few times and dozes off quitely whispering)
Oreo- Shiny...Captain...kat...o2...El...Tranquili......

she passes the Capt on his way to meet with Michael.

Capt, "yup he's fine, shot him up with some morphine. The Doctors are treating him well.
Shiny, Smiles in relief, "good."
Capt starts walking towards Serenity
Capt, "I'm gonna chat with our new passenger

Captain. "If you don't wanna be confined to a bed
I suggest you stay away from the med facility. Besides You don't need to worry about Oreo. Once he's fine He'll be back with us. I think having some time away from him will help clear your head a little.

Captain, "Shiny you keep telling me that, but
I think you need some worrying." I need you to attend to serenity's engine.
Shiny with a irritated look, "fine."
Shiny walks past the captain obviously upset.
Capt, "Shiny,I have your best interest."
Shiny inside the cargo bay turns around and looks at the Captain. "know one knows whats my best interest but me. shiny walks away mad.
Shiny walks to her bunk and shuts her door.

Once the door is shut shiny grabs the folder she
took from the Doctors sits on her bed opens it
and starts reading the medical terms frustrated
that she doesn't understand medical jive. she flips through the papers looking for something that makes sense to her she gets to the last page
and its the Doctors note.
Shiny starts reading it quietly out loud....
Her tests doesn't seem to make sense.
When we ran the routine CBC test all tests came back fine Except her white blood cell count was high so we ran more tests. We found nothing. She appears to be in over all very good health.
We are puzzled since we've never seen this before. I want to keep her for more observation.
Shiny close's the folder.
She stares at the wall in shock, fear runs through her body She shivers.
Shiny thinking, (whats wrong with me? how is this possible it doesn't make since.
Shiny thinks back to her and Oreo.
she starts wondering if it has something to do
with it.
Shiny thinking,(did Oreo do this to me? would he do something like that on purpose? But I'm not sick it says in in good health.)
Shiny gets up and puts the folder under her bed.

Shiny leaves the room and and walks to the galley in search of a drink. She see's Micheal sitting at the table with one already in hand.
Shiny opens the fridge grabs a cold one and sits at the table, she opens the beer and takes a swig.
She puts it down and looks at Micheal and asks.
Shiny, "you wouldn't know how to read a medical chart and blood test's, would ya?"

Captain shoves the bottle over to Michael. Out of courtesy, and habit, Michael grabbed the bottle and poured a glass, eyes never leaving the captain until he walks out. Michael's thoughts drift out through the black and back several years.

Michael had just gotten off a transport from Ariel, back home after two very long years. He didn't know how to face his family, his townsfolk that had all put so much hope in him. So instead, he walked into the nearest saloon he could find, docked himself at the bar and ordered the cheapest intoxicant the establishment offered.
His trip to Ariel hadn't been that different than life here on Persephone- work, dirt in your food, and crass talk over a few drinks. But once planetside on Ariel, Michael's eyes had been opened up to the wide possibilities open to him on a core world. Thoughts of attending school evaporated from his mind.
There, everything was clean, beautiful, and rich. He instantly fell in with a few other off-planet kids. They went to fancy restaurants, visited the finest Companions they could afford, and in a week and a half, Michael had burned through two years worth of tutition money.
It didn't even occur to him how much he'd spent until he couldn't pay for a meal, and the manager had called security and thrown him in debtor's prison for a few days of hard work to repay the cost of the meal. When they found out he didn't even have money for a ticket offplanet, they left him in debtor's prison until he'd earned enough for transit. Two years later, security marched him to a transport, and stayed until they were sure he going anywhere but staying on Ariel.
Here he sat, spending his last coin on some cheap whiskey and hating himself. He was considering where he might find a gun, a cliff or a speeding train that might do him a favor one last time. So he didn't hear the first time someone called his name.
"Michael!"
He blinked away the whiskey fog.
"Michael, you're back!"
"Moi name's not Michael, you're mistaken sir."
"No, I'm not, you're Michael ah... O'Shea right? Sent off for schoolin' to Ariel."
Michael rose unsteadily to his feet. "No sir, you're roight mistaken. Oi'm not 'oo you say. Piss off."
The old man was not discouraged, he started waving over his buddies, pointing Michael out and ordering drinks. He wrapped his arm around Michael and explained to the growing crowd how this young man had braved the core planets to go to school and become a real doctor. How this here young gentleman was going to care for all our sick and raise up the whole town. Michael could hear no more:
"Gorram it! Git off'en moi shoulder! Yer an old dotterin fool an' have mistaken me for someone 'oo gives a rats arse aboot this mudhole town!"
At this, he shoved the man off of him, and made an attempt to lurch out of the saloon. But the crowd kept him in place, obliviously cheering his expected return. His hand brushed a handle at the old man's belt, a knife. He pulled it out, and screamed at the crowd, swinging the knife about.
"It's not me! Oi'm no doctor! I'm no one at all. Juss leave me be!"
But the crowd was too uproarious and drunk now to notice the knife. And the old man stumbled forward, right into the point of the knife. His yell of pain, and gurgled death as he slid to the floor sobered up Michael and the crowd. Cries of murder went up, and someone called for the sheriff. Michael vaulted the bar, dashed up the stairs and out the back entrance of the saloon. He was on the run for 3 months, until he managed to steal enough for a fake ident card, and start doing odd jobs for a crew in Eavesdown Docks.

On the Serenity, Michael sat for several minutes with the glass in hand, unmoving as the memory thundered through his head again. He didn't notice Shiny entering until she spoke:
Shiny, "you wouldn't know how to read a medical chart and blood test's, would ya?"
Michael blinked, looked at the glass with disgust and pushed it away. He looked up at Shiny, her eyes searching and desperate for help. Help he couldn't provide.

and well, I don't get fixed And now, I guess I'm broken."
Shiny laughs an uncomfortable laugh.

Shiny picks up the bottles and Michaels glass
and put them in the sink.
Shiny, "so how long you gonna stay with us?
Not that you can't stay as long as you like
Us crew, were like family and well, we always have room for more."

(Doctor continue talking, Oreo quietly lays on the operating table still asleep. Two of the doctors have separated themselves from the others and are arguing, while waiting for Dr.Hokowa)
Dr.1(whispering to other Dr): This is madness.If Hokowa thinks he can reverse this schmucks condition, he's insane. He's to far along and has put this entire facility in danger by keeping him here.
Dr.2: The patient is sedated. He's not going anywhere. Besides, Hokowa has receieved the data on Oreo.
Dr.1: So what! we cut him up and find out there's nothing we can do! we stitch him back up, send him on his way. That makes us no better then the Gorramn Alliance!
(Dr.2 grabs Dr.1 by the arm and moves him into a other room)
Dr.2: Keep your voice down Dr. Get a hold of yourself. Who cares if we can't help him, our job is to move forward with progress and find a way to stop this. But along the way towards any great discovery, there will always be...sacrifices.
Dr.1: His crew will not be happy if his dies.
(Dr.2 begins exiting backing into the operating room)
Dr.2(chuckling: That's the business were in.
(Dr.1 watches as the Dr.2 re-enters and joins the rest of the medical staff. He can't help but think everything about this situation is...wrong. He sides his white surgical coat off and lies it on the back of a chair. He places both his hands and his head. Thinking. Think. Thinking. Think. Finally, the Dr. reaches a decision.)
Dr.1: This is going to happen. I can't Let this happen.
(A decision has been made within the Doctors mind. The decision to not become a monster, just so medical science can move on. The Doctor reaches for a com. Taking deep breathes, he begins)
Dr.1: Attention all staff! This Dr... Mitsui, we have a medical emergency in B Level! I Repeat! Medical Emergency in B Level! All Personal report to B Level.
(Instantly the staff occupying the operating clear out and begin heading towards the false emergency. Once the last staff member had exited and the door shuts behind her. Dr.1 quickly re-enters the room. He opens a drawer and pulls out a syringe. Taking pointer finger, he taps the syringe and injects it into Oreo arm. a sudden reaction of convulsions sweeps over Oreo body. It's not long before the convulsions subside and Oreo slowly sits up.)
Oreo(Groggy): Who the hell are you?
Dr.1: I'm Dr. Vidal and I'll be saving your life today. Come We must Hurry, before everyone comes back.
Oreo(Groggy): Come Back? From Where?
Doctor Vidal: No time to explain! We must go now and find your friends!
(Doctor Vidal helps Oreo Off of the Operating table, placing arm around another they make their way out into the hall and quickly make their way out of the operating ward)

some of these are sound files. i've heard rumors of neuro-sonic treatments for similar cases but those were highly experimental.
i hope this type of treatment will help OREO, even if just a little... that coyote has been poked with enough needles to make his own haystack.

Shiny- wheres everybody at? its almost like a ghost town in here.
o2- yeah. you know know i didnt think a hospital could get any creeper, what with the sick...dying people and all.now nobody? oh god, maybe its an airbourne virus. look at me, do i look sick or dying to you?
(captain snickers)

Michael taps furiously at his reader as he, Shiny, and the Captain barrel around a corner and into the diagnostics center.

Vidal- Look, there is a doctor, Dr.Timoka. the one who has been handling your data and medinices ever since Hokowa put him charge.
Oreo- so, whats he got to do with anything?
Vidal- about ten hours after you were sedated and moved into your holding cell, hokowa puts him charge. Vidal began analyzing your data and ran across some information concerning you, your crew and the Alliance...he waved the Allaince. They are on their way here as we speak.
Oreo- So why are you helping me? how do you know all this?
Vidal- Timoka didnt know i was filing some patient records in the next room. when he left the office, i looked over your file. i read what the Alliance did to you. no human being should ever have to endure what you've been through. we had a few cause, not of the same magnitude mind you...you are a weapon. Timoka knew this as well. He wanted to keep aquila safe from you, the alliance, and at the same time he came greedy. he wanted the reward, the notority of the one to find a cure for reaverism. Alot of people are counting on your blood to cure them.
(oreo stares down at the floor)
Oreo- can it?
Vidal-...Yes.
Oreo- what about me?
Vidal- you, you are beyond the, to use the term lighty, normal scope of reaverism. The Alliance had a set plan for you. you had something, unique about you that made you the ideal candidate for their project. i'm sorry, but i don't think you can ever be cured.
(oreo continues starring at the floor)

(Vidal pulls a clear disk from his lab coat pocket and slip it into oreos hand.)
vidal- This disk holds plans for a proto-type inhibitor or P.T.I ring. The way its supposed to work is, the ring is surgically grafted to your third and fourth vertibra. When you begin to "change" the ring triggers sending small mirco-scopic pulses causing your body to create enough adrenaline to counteract the reaver blood cells in you, but you have to want to stop the "change", the ring cant do all the work.
Oreo- So, i'll be able to "change" when i want to?
Vidal- Thats the notion, but as i said, it's only a plans for a proto-type. it has yet to be built, let alone tested.
(Oreo puts it into his thight pocket)
Vidal- outside of this facility, there is only one place you can go, one man you can seek out to perform the surgery.
Oreo- continues to stare at Vidal.
Vidal- There is a man, Nishka i believe his name is. Has a skyplex. He knows of a man that can perform the surgery, but i must warn you, Nishka is ruthless, you're gonna need money, lots of it and luck.
(Oreo looks up towards the ceiling and Whispers to himself)

"Ben tiansheng de yidui rou!" Michael yells at his Cortex-reader. He's too preoccupied to keep an eye on where he is going and slams into a concrete column. Bam! He hits first the column and then the floor as the blow knocks him off his feet.
Shiny skids to a halt, turning to Michael.
"You okay?"
"Gaoyang zhong de guyang! We be toitally humped!" Michael looks dazed, but oblivious to his condition. "Why in guo cao de are we both on da groond?"
Shiny stutters, trying to keep up with Michael's angry rant. "Ah, you ran full-tilt into that pillar and toppled over. What are you cursing at?" She looks down at Michael's reader, and he points to the data header for a transmission he's reading. She turns and yells at the captain, who's finally realized his search party is sprawled on the tile floor. "Cap'n, we got trouble."
Shadow: "You seemed to have found walking troubles, asides the known trouble we got with Oreo being missing."
Michael and Shiny both attempt to help the other up, and they awkwardly struggle to their feet. Michael strides over to Shadow, reader held out.
"Cap'n, iffn' this don't make ye dairuomu ji, Oi'll be ruttin' surprised. Some bloody doctor waved Alloiance mor'n an hour ago..."
Shadow turns away calmly, faces the empty corridor, and with all possible ferocity, bellows:

Vidal- What do you suggest? We stand here and wait. We could get cought by the staff. We'd both be in trouble.
Oreo- figure you'd be in trouble all ready.
Vidal- no one knows i'm helping you. I would like to keep it that way.
(Oreo surveys his surroundings)
Oreo- Okay...lets go.
(The pair make there way down the hallways. Voice growing loud the closer they get to it.)
Voice- OREO! WHEREEVER YOU ARE GET MOVING!
(Vidal and Oreo stop in there tracks)
Vidal- Whats does he mean by that?
Oreo- In my years, I learned to not ask questions.
(Oreo wriggles away from vidal)
Oreo- Come on!
(Vadal and Oreo bust out in a full sprint. Oreo concentrating on matter at hand, but his body quickly begins to wear down)
Vidal- its the medication. your adrenaline is mixing well it with.
Oreo- You noticed that to huh? Wheres the hangar. I gotta get to the ship!
Vidal- I'll take you to a staff elevator, from there i can't not go with you, but you're find your way.

Oreo- gorramit! it's a dead end!
Vidal- No. its the entrance to the staff elevator.
Oreo- Doc, i'm not sure if you're seein the same thing i am. It a wall. A dead end!
(Vidal take off his badge hanging from his lab coat and swipe it against the wall. Instantly the wall open up revealing a hidden elevator)
Oreo- I'll be a son of a...
Vidal- Quickly inside. Take it down to the bottom level, then follow the stairs down to the evacuation tunnel. It'll be a ways, but you're see a door leading to the hangar. Hopefully you won't run into anybody down there.
Oreo- anybody?
Vidal- Yes, the tunnel is usually patroled by a small guard unit. I'm hoping that with the distraction they were called away. Good luck.
(Oreo open the elevator doors and steps into it. With the doors shutting behind him, oreo presses a button sending the elevator down.)
(Vidal Swipes his card once again and the wall closes concealing the elevator. He turns, wide eyed, his badges drops to the ground. A voice orders him to get down to his knees)
Voice- Dr.Vidal, you are here by bound by law, by to your knees or you will be shot!

Major- open a com channel to the elevator.

(with weapons cocked and ready the small unit wait as the elevator makes it final decent. With a brief pause the doors open and the guards open fire. smoke from their barrels and smoke from circuts begins fired quickly engulf the samll tunnel. When the last bullet has flown, the guards reload and advance. )

(Oreo finally stops at the end of the tunnel. A big steel door in front of him with the words "Hanger Bay: Personel only" painted across it.) Oreo opens it and steps inside, finding himself atop a flight of stairs staring down at Tranquility. The captain standing outside of her with Kat pacing back and fourth. Loud foot steps begins to echo behind Oreo, he quickly turns around and in the distance dozens of Armed guards are heading towards him with the major leading in front. Oreo quickly slams the door shut and locks it and begins down the stairs)
Kat- Captain! Look! is that Oreo?!
(The Captain inches forward abit to get a better look)
Captain- kat get inside and tell o2 to get Tranquility Fired up!
Kat- Why the rush?
Captain- He's running. (the captain turns and begins to run inside himself. When he's running like that, i find it best to not ask questions!
(The capatian and kat re-enter tranquility. Captain posting himself just inside of the cargo ready to close it as soon as oreo gets onbaord, kat quickly making her way to the bridge. Midway, shiny see's Kat)
Shiny- What's going on?
Kat- We gotta go!
Shiny- But Oreo...

Shiny- turns and runs for the cargo bay.
(Back in the hangar, Oreo is blazing down the stairs skipping two and three at a time, the captain shouting from the cargo bay)
Captain- MOVE IT!
(Shiny joins the captian and sees Oreo coming down the stairs, but shes also notices Guards coming as well.)
Shiny- LOOK OUT!
(Guards stop and begins firing there weapons.Oreo temporarily stops to duck under some steel grating.)
Major- I want him stopped and put a land lock on that ship!
(Oreo continues down the stairs, bullets buzzing by overhead. Oreo looks over the side and pulls back.)
Shiny-Where did he go? Did he get hit?
(The captain strains to see if he can find Oreo. Suddenly A figure is hurled over the edge of the railng)
Captian- There! He's making a jump for!
(Oreo lands onto a pile of rubber insulation, cushioning his landing. He stands up and dashes for the ship. bullets begins dancing all around him. Oreo, dodge this way and that. The captain presses a button the cargo bay door begins to closes)
Shiny- Too soon, he won't make!
Captain- He'll make it!
(As the visual of the outside begins to shrink a hand quickly grabs ahold of the bay door, then another until the figure of oreo pulls himself up and sliding down the door could be seen. The door finally shuts and the captain and shiny rush to oreo aid)

At that moment she hears the captain yell her name. Shiny unbuckles herself and Joins the Captain and Kat. She watches Oreo making a mad dash to the ship.
