Hi all,

I'm doing everything in our power to save the show that's become the only reason I stay home on Friday nights. I've done three big mailings so far of postcards and plan to do at least two more this weekend.

What I want to know is if anyone has all the episodes that have aired so far on tape. I missed the premiere and though I haven't missed any since, our tape that had the episodes on them was fried in the machine last night. (Yeah, I'm still trying to recover from that blow.) Is anyone taping the episodes in case (God forbid) the show is cancelled so we don't lose it for all time? If so, I would be interested to talk to you about it and make payment/shipping arrangements for copies.

Keep thinking good thoughts, everyone, and doing whatever you can to save this terrific show.

"Well said. Wasn't that well said, Zoe?"
"Had a kinda poetry to it, sir."

I've been taping it!
I tape on EP, tho so they're not of the highest quality (I stack episodes back-to-back editing commercials out on the fly in order to fit 10 episodes per T-160). Don't get me wrong, they look good... the eps are just in EP mode.

I've got Matt's tapes of Angel... They look great. :) (at least I think it's this Matt.... Matt, is that you? Hannah's friend?) He even gave me print-outs with summaries of each episode and writer/director credits. Speaking of which... Matt, I was just about to offer a bribe for firefly tapes! What'll it take? More chocolate? or something more substantial this time?

Wow...what a relief!

Once we know the fate of the show, I'd like to get in touch with you about getting a copy of your tape(s) (EP sounds just fine...that's how I was recording them). If you'd be so inclined, of course!

If you're willing, please e-mail me at zuzuspetals@web-ster.com so that we can discuss payment and shipping arrangements.

And thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!

Yeah, it's me! Thanks for the chocolate. Glad you're enjoying the tapes.

My e-mail address is hjermsted@hotmail.com.

I'm willing to make dubs for kind folk who need them. However, I can tell you right now in exchange for the tape(s), you'll have to prove to me that you have sent pro-Firefly postcards to Fox and to Firefly's sponsors. (don't worry, everything you need for that is here: www.fireflysupport.com)

How many postcards do you want me to send???

One each to Fox and all of the advertisers (listed at www.fireflysupport.com) is enough for me.

It'll cost you around $10 in postage and a little extra if you print up the cards yourself.

Totally worth it if you ask me.
Helps the cause and gets you a tape full of Firefly!

Hello everyone,

I'm new to the group so "Hi". I am also very interested in the tapes. I missed the first couple of episodes so let me know what you need and how much for a copy. I was actually a little worried that I might not be able to find copies. I was very happy to find this thread.

Oh, and I already signed the petition. I'll send out postcards this week.

Hey Matt!

You've probably gotten alot of requests for you tapes but I would love a copy of them. I was taping the show but my sister accidentally taped over some of my tapes while I was away.

I can Paypal you some money to cover the costs of the tapes.

If you had the time to do this I would really appreciate it.

Thanks,

Fenster

I have all episodes and previews (only half of the preview of Bushwacked) taped in EP. Train Job, Bushwacked, and Our Mrs. Reynolds were taped before I got digital cable so they are kinda fuzzy. I can't make copies, but I could loan my treasured tapes to a desperate fan if needed. What about V-CDs? I've seen them on Ebay a few times, but they are in the European format....

Well, heck, PAL format doesn't do us Browncoats no good...

For what reason are you unable to make copies? I'd love to get all of them on VHS (EP recordings are great if it's not on TV anymore at all - I'll take what I can get, right?)

Let me know the sitch via e-mail. I have a line on some VCD versions, but don't really have anything to play that on consistantly so I'd prefer VHS, at whatever quality.

I have all the episodes in SVCD format, except "Out of Gas" (my favorite!!! >:( ).

I like SVCD better cuz I think the quality's better, it lasts longer, and it's easy duplicatable. Most newer DVD players support SVCD (check your manual), or, failing that all windows PCs should be able to play it, as long as you got a CD-Rom.

Oh, and BTW, VCD is NOT a PAL format. I have copious amounts of VCDs in NTSC. VCD is not natively one or the other. It's how you encode the MPG that determines that. Ok, if you have any questions, want copies, or can provide me with "Out of Gas", leave me your email here.

Cheers,
Gambit.

I recorded all the eps to MiniDV from my TIVO. I'm in the process of putting them all on VCD and then on DVD. I've got eps 1-6 on VCD, so far. I should have the rest of the VCD's done in the next week or so. I'll work on the DVD's after that, as time permits(I encode 6 other shows besides Firefly weekly). I have 'The Train Job' and 'Bushwacked' on DVD, but I'm not completely satified with the quality yet. email me if you want VCD's.

Thanks,

I don't know if my dvd player will accept vcd. It is 2-3 years old, and practially a dinosaur by today's standards.

Sooooo, I would give you my firstborn for dvds except that 1) I don't have any and 2) who would want more kids than they already have anyway?

But I would use the old fashioned currency of money or chocolate or whatever you ask for a set of DVDs. Especially since UPN turned us down. So email me at bigsister9874@yahoo.com.

Please!

and yes, I'm taking this all personal like.

DVD media is way... too expensive.
For a set of DVD media. You can
pick up a brand spanking new DVD
player that will play just about
everything you put in it.
Those things go for $65 nowadays.

cheap, compared to $3-$5 per DVD.

What? Come on Jzzz. DVD-R media is <$1 each.(allmediaoutlet.com, yesbuy.net) You can easily put 2 episodes per disc, so that's only 6 discs for all 11 FF eps. Labels are around $0.25 each. Add a DVD 'Amaray' case for $0.30, and print a nice color insert for another $0.25 and there you have it. $15 worth of materials for the whole FF DVD set!

BUT, my labor to do all this? Cha-Ching!!! figure 45 minutes x 12 episodes (Serenity is essentially 2 eps) to capture them. 2-3 hours x 12 episodes to encode the .m2v files. 2-3 hours x 6 discs to layout the menus and sub-menus. 37 minutes x 6 discs to burn each DVD-R @ 2x. Then, 90 minutes x 6 discs to proof the masters for any 'hick-ups'. We have to be getting up around $100 a set by now, right? And they will be 'broadcast quality'!

VCD's are easy! I can capture>edit>encode>burn>label an episode for VCD in 3-4 hours, and once it's done I can duplicate them in any computer with a CD burner. But it will never look better than VHS quality. ( www.vcdhelp.com) Why would want to pay $25-$40 for VCD/VHS quality? You get what you pay for.

SVCD's are better than VCD, but most DVD players are picky about the encoding. The slightest 'hick-up' and the player usually freezes up. Plus, SVCD are equal to S-VHS quality at best.

As for DVD players, if it won't play VCD's, then it most likely won't like the DVD-R media too well either! Check this list for the the current 'Top Rated' players and to see if yours is on it. http://www.vcdhelp.com/dvdplayers.php?DVDname=&Search=Search&toprate=T
op+User+Rated

I have a AMPEX AD-1100W with the 'Macro-vision/ Multi region' "Patch" and it plays nearly everything you put in it. $70 @ Wal-Mart.

Good luck! I'll let y'all know when I have DVD's available!

Is there any chance if I sent you a tape and money for mailing you could send me a copy? And if the annswer's Yes, I didn't get "Train Job" either, could I snach that one off you too?
If Yes, you are my favorite person alive.
If no, thanks anyways

Hi everyone,

Newbie here! And I'm in desperate need of Firefly tapes. Would anyone be willing make copies for me? Of course I would pay for shipping and whatever work you put into it. Since the show has disappeared, and I was forced to watch Mr. Sterling, I need something to get me through it. I'd be very grateful.

Email: lisamona13@yahoo.com

Thanks! (oh btw, I do live in the states now, so don't worry about shipping to Europe lol)
