Hi! Was introduced to Firefly about a year ago by my (now!) fiance. Have you seen some of the programs on TV? People trying to live as a quadraped? Eastenders? Big Brother? Junk! Wondered if the webmaster here could put a map on so Browncoats can meet up or just see if anyone is local. We'd love to travel for conventions etc. Just need an excuse!!

More UK Browncoats Wheee! :-)
Banbury UK. Used to live in Pompey. Will shindig and CSTS screen attend whenever I can :-)
The UK board is another place to see what's going on con wise and is OK (has a few idiosyncracies but can be useful and entertaining at times)
Hmm. Sending a Wave (the UK Firefly podcast) used to have a map. Not sure what happened to that (have to ask Wendy)

Well, I figured there must have been a map for this site made somewhere, and I dug around and found one:
http://www.frappr.com/fireflyfansnet/map
Doesn't seem to have been used much, and I reckon it's out of date.

A Browncoat Map was created over at the scifi.com forums - http://forums.scifi.com/index.php?showtopic=1805692 - and there are 37 pages on that thread (20 posts per page).
Unfortunately the guy who started it hasn't been around for a while, probably lost his account in one of their frequent "fixes."

Looks like I've started something here!
The theory over here is Fox messed up the first episode. Apparently Americans have not the patience to deal with a series that isn't thrown into the action straight away. Allegedly, the American audience needs to be spoon fed. Looking at this thread alone, they have been proved soooooooooo wrong!!!!!!
I'm a late commer to Firefly. It's amazing I'm by far the only one!!!!
Well done the States!!!! You've done yourself proud and proved Fox wrong!
If you's can write and create something so clever, why couldn't Fox credit the audience with more inteligence?
Would be good to see more from Europe on here, but hey-ho.
And let's keep nagging until someone has the sense to start filming again!!!!!

Yea, Fox showed the Train Job first in the US (they didn't understand the pilot...it didn't fit w/ they're genre-models and demographic studies). They also first aired it against the World Series (not a good time to debut a new series). In the weeks that followed they showed the episodes out of order and changed up the night and time it was showed. I loved the writing, characters and style but it was confusing and hard to get into watching it from week to week, originally. The theory is that Fox wanted it to die or just didn't know what to do w/ it because Joss failed to give them another Buffy to fit their demographic advertising needs (and are surely kicking themselve now for killing it).
Oh, and back on topic, from San Marcos, Texas.

Sorely out of date I think, but once a Browncoat, always a Browncoat so those on there are almost certainly still fans. I'll see about getting that re-linked on The Signal's site

Man, I'd like to know where you were last if Waco is your idea of fun.

Seriously, it's my hometown so I can be pretty brutal about it. It is a good family town I suppose, big enough to have stuff to do but not so big that traffic is a problem. It is in the middle of the Bible Belt though (not that there's anything wrong with that
) so I feel a bit like an outsider. And there are worse places in Texas to live, trouble is I can't think of any at the moment.

Hiya folks,
I was on my way to work (yes, I'd rather be outside enjoying the sights) when I came upon a security guard here in the building (30 Rock) and to my amazement, he points to my Serenity T-shirt and says "Awesome show."
You could imagine my delight and surprise at meeting another Browncoat here in the City. I was so happy to meet him I went over to where he was standing and shook his hand. I said it was nice to meet a fellow Browncoat and then I asked him "When did he find out about it. He said about 2 years ago when he saw the BDM."
Now I'm in a great mood. I didn't get a chance to say much more because I needed to get to the office. But I plan to sneak down pretty soon to go see if I could talk to him some more.
Hope he's still there when I go down. I'm feeling good and I thought I passed this on. Man, it's great to meet a fellow BC.
