Looks like something out of Mad Max. I wonder if the overall esthetics of the movie is towards the heavy industrial side.

MAL: Just the ones I'm better than."

"MAL: Gotta say, doctor, your talent for alienatin' folk is near miraculous.
SIMON: Yes, I'm very proud."

:dissappointed: Looks an awful lot like a glorified dunebuggy, this is uncool. :dissappointed:

They just need to leave this tanked franchise layin' dead until they truly get their together.

The New York Daily News had an article on the new batmobile. Here are some pictures!

oopph... Forgot about that part...

Now I'm really having a hard time whether I'm more disappointed about this pile of turd they call the "new Batmobile" or Christian Bale as Batman.

I had the same reaction: MadMax, RoadWarrior, PostApocalypticDuneBuggy...

Maybe a touch of the spinner form Bladerunner in it as well.

Of course that still doesn't save the damn thing from being ugly.

Sheesh...

The new Batmobile looks like a Humvee and a dune buggy got crammed into one of Seth Brundle's transporter pods, and this pile of geometric metal bits is the mutated result.

So, what, the philosophy behind this is that the franchise has been so trashed, that a totally new take on the "look" is necessary to resurrect it? Anybody consider getting a really great script and director instead?

At least the new Batmobile doesn't have nipples on it...

I take it, then, that none of you have read Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns? Because in that, the Batmobile is basically a big damn tank, and I think that's the kind of the vibe they were going for in the new movie - you know, without actually giving him a tank.

Personally, I couldn't care less what he drives around in as long as Bale is good as Bats, and the film is good.

From what I've heard, the new movie is a "prequel" of sorts, telling how Batman started out. As such, the "Bat-tank" does kinda make sense. The latter, sleek and sexy Batmobiles are the result of years of refining the design and using state-of-the-art materials.

This vehicle would've been designed/built by a much younger and inexperienced Batman.

Also, being young, he'd probably go for the ability to take punishment, rather than the ability to avoid it (he just wouldn't have had time to develop those skills yet, and wouldn't want to have to rely on them).

However, it is like the Batman version of Enterprise, which means that everyone's gonna hate it, no matter how good a job the writers/directors/actors do.

Coolest dunebuggy type thing ever... but not the Batmobile.

Granted, it doesn't look like any Batmobile we've seen. But if you really think about it, the car actually seems more practical than what was in the previous movies or in the 1960's TV series.

I mean come on, in the real world a crimefighter would probably choose the vehicle above over the campy machine we're used to.

Thank you. Everyone here is all with the freaking out over this, but honestly if you ask me it makes a lot of sense from a practical sort of view. Also it doesn't look like people really know that much about this movie, so I should point out that this movie isn't really supposed to be connected to the prior movie series. That's why they're starting over. From everything I've heard it sounds like the producers are going out of their way to make this a good film.

I like Enterprise, and I'm fully prepared to like this too. Or to dislike it, for reasons which I reserve the right to go into after it's released and I see it.
