I've seen several thousand votes for a show overnight. It's done by fans with the time and/or money to use "machine voting." This can be done via proxy sites, or botnets and a little scripting. Not rocket science, but it does take some effort. Many fandoms have one or more of these "supervoters."

That's how Red Dwarf got way ahead of us at http://stargate-news.com/ There was a browncoast supervoter, but the Red Dwarf supervoters stayed around, while ours did not.

Well, for people who are just googling around for stuff, and don't know about supervoting, they will just think we are mighty. Mission accomplished.

Are there any vote contests out there that block the supervoters? It's not impossinle to do, but does take effort. Which is why TVVote shut down.
