I don't know if this could be the hidden Firefly Easter egg on the Castle set, but in the scene when Castle enters the room as Mal with his gun drawn, is that a Darth Vader action figure on the shelf to the right of him? Wasn't that kept in the cabinet of Serenity during the series?

I agree with Kwicko

Although I’ve liked all of the CASTLE episodes this particular one was the best and my favorite! The references I noticed and had to laugh at were;

Castle as Captain Reynolds

Buffy

And Hands of Blue ( gloves on Beck)

We also got to see a lot of “V” commercials and Morrena looks great. Can hardly wait till next Tuesday.

Thanks goes out to ABC for giving the cast and production team of Castle the freedom to put on a show like this.

its hard to see on the little screen capture, but take a look on ABC's site for a bigger, clearer picture. To the immediate right of the pocket on his coat, I'm pretty sure that's the engine part from "out of gas". Don't know if its the broken or replacement part, but I saw it right away. I think Nathan is about the coolest guy ever.

I gotta say . . . it was a nice intro. Nathan, as they say, has to be one of the biggest fans of his own show EVER! Which is extremely cool. And the fact that ABC allowed him and the producers to make such a lengthy reference is a testament to the good faith some folk can have.

The dialog between Castle and his daughter was awesome. And so spot on, regretably. We'd like to think that there's hope (AND THERE IS!!!! Heehee), but that hope is oh so slim. Time to move on? Great little tongue-in-cheek jab at the loyal, die hard fans of Firefly. And quite possibly to Nathan himself The writers HAD to know we'd all laugh, rolling on the floor, at that while simultaneously wiping a tear from the corner of our eye.

Kudos to Nathan. My respect for him just grew by leaps and bounds.

Oh such a truly awesome episode and so great to have all teh Firefly shout outs...
Also nice that ABC allowed other actors a shout out to their former parts. The guy who plays Esposito was in the show Generation Kill and they let him wear his battle fatigues for it:)

Verrrry nice; and thanx for the catalyzer catch...you've got good eyes!!! I didn't catch the very first part, him getting dressed, so it was great to see it on Hulu, thanx for that, too!

I think the reference to "didn't you wear it 5 years ago?"--was to the BDM, not Firefly; wasn't that in 2004 or '05? Last time he wore it "officially", yes? Would make sense, if it was.

And "Feggin" was definitely a reference to "Fagan"--she said "I'm going Dickensian".

Bless Nathan...he HAD to know how many thousands of Browncoats would be waiting with baited breath--or imagine those who didn't KNOW, and the fantastic shock it must have given them!

Thank you ABC. (Maybe letters of thanx? I'm gonna.) We sure enjoyed it...sigh...

That sums up my wife's and my reaction perfectly. We were ROLLING, we were laughing so hard, just from giddiness, but at the same time it's bittersweet, too. But the dialog was just priceless. Huge props to Nathan for still loving his fans, and to ABC and the writers of the show for giving us such a great present. I loved the show already, and I *didn't* at first - the chemistry between Nathan and Stana Katic (Beckett) has really gotten good; before, I felt like he was carrying the show. Now, it feels like the cast and crew are REALLY starting to gel.

Put it this way: there are VERY few shows that I watch in real-time. Castle is one of them. I was all tuned in and ready - AND recording it - well before the show came on. It was ONE of my favorite shows before last night. It just moved way up the list, too. Yes, I'm that easy to please.

I took "Crow" to be a reference to "The Crow" (comic book). There were lots and lots of references to lots and lots of things. In the first 10 minutes alone. It was generally allover great stuff.

I wonder if they've got a pool going to see how many references the fans will get. (If our Capn's smart he put his money on "all of them, in record time, and a couple that were accidental".)

How much do you want to bet someone's going to recognize Beckett's outfit as an obscure in-joke?

Poe: The Telltale Heart. Our first Murder Mystery Thriller. Did anyone else notice it was close to his posthumous belated funeral? (Normally that would be redundant and possibly ironic, in this case not so much.)

I have to go watch it again.

Just saw it on Hulu and it was.....shiny awesome!

Loved all the references. Does Nathan know us or what? Best opening scene, dialogue, FF music intro and BDM reference. No cows in space - Shindig episode. I watched the intro about a dozen times after I watched the episode - which BTW, was very good.

Brought a tear to my eye when Mal, er, Nathan burst through the door gun drawn. Almost expected a BWAH!

BTW we should send ABC and Nathan a thank you note. I know I'm going to.

Say, it just occurred to me... he ended up dressed as Poe (a writer) but he had the raven on his arm.
The raven quoth "nevermore" and the poem it was from was about mourning a dead love. Is it implying he's "moving on" as the daughter suggested? (Oh the levels upon levels you can read into things if you obsess over them..)
