'Heh. Some Firefly alums are going to write short stories, that’s all.' Hmmm, Jane Espenson, Jose Molina and Ben Edlund.

Whoa! That is interesting, exciting news indeed. She did not mention a peep about it (that I caught) at Creation FF Salute.

Ooh. Maybe this is part of a little bit of a franchise reboot. :)

Or maybe they're avid fanfic writers. :o

We might know them and never realize.

Well, novels are good, yes, but short stories and novellas, if done well, can capture more of the "episodic" feel of a TV series.

Most novels feel they have to keep trying to "top" themselves, or only tell stories that can span 500 pages. They tend to be plot-heavy; short stories can do more character-based vignettes where there's no Major Life-Changing Event happening.

I take your point though it doesnt have to be the case. In any event I was talking only from the point of view that full novels would entail more reading.

I love the fanfic on this site but I have yet to find a good way of reading them. How do you guys read the online fanfiction? I cant stand to sit for too long reading off the screen and printing them out is very time consuming not to mention the reams of paper required.

My head may explode.

This is pretty darn shiny, esp with the cessation of Faux's contractual hold on the franchise ceasing in a few years....

I also squee squee squee squee though I have no squirrel friends. I am however slightly confused, are these short stories going to be available for us to buy or just to read online? If anybody knows anymore and could let us know it would be brilliant - also BEST NEWS I'VE HAD IN AGES!(squee)
With all this buzz about Firefly lately - is anybody else getting a slight twinge of that 'I'm thinkin' we'll rise again' feeling?

A collection of short stories that somehow tie in to the 'verse. It would be cool if they would release these short stories in CG Animation and Japanese Anime on DVD. Sort of like how the 'Animatrix' is to the 'Matrix'.If they do decide to go in that direction, they should choose the art staff from 'Cowboy Bebop' to do one story.
