New eps of Caprica, and nothing posted ?
I'm mildly upset. There could be tears.

There's no crying in Sci Fi!
Actually, I'm watching it now.
VERY clever line about 'Trinity'.
It made me think, it did.

No kidding. I'm sensing the non-love over Caprica here something fierce. It's actually laid down some fairly interesting foundations for events which happen far into the future. So far, it's pretty good.

At this point I actually like it more than I did BSG; it's not as depressing. And I'm glad to see the "Zoe-vision" trick (filming the actress instead of the CG Cylon) wasn't as obtrusive as I'd feared. I don't like that technique on SGU, and I wouldn't like it here.
Surge is awesome. So utterly deadpan that it crosses back around into sarcasm. "The crowd goes fracking wild, sir."

THAT was a funny moment.
I'm still in the giving-it-a-chance mode, and there's a couple of issues which sorta rub me the wrong way, but it's VERY watchable. I tried more than once to get into SGU, and it does nothing for me. Zilch.
Still, I'm really perplexed at the lack of comments on the show. Seriously, are folks posting at a Caprica specific board ? Or are they so disillusioned over how BSG turned out, they've walked away from the whole franchise entirely?

I only get to watch it on hulu.com and all they have is the two pilot episodes.

But if it's discussion you're looking for.... Weren't we relentlessly lectured enough about god and morality throughout BSG, only to be beaten over the head with it during the series finale? Zoe, Avatar, Cylon - yeah, wow, such a clever revelation. Oh, and let's throw in some terrorism and religious persecution while we're at it. I'm kinda seeing a one-trick-pony here....
But it's still new, so I'll continue to watch... until it makes me want to take my bat to the television with great prejudice.

I didn't know it was on, like most folk.
As usual, piss poor job by network marketing.
PsyFy has it online on Wednesday.

Well, I'm not joining any Caprica fan club or anything, but I will continue to watch.
Sure, it's not awesome, but I see it being better than a lot of crap that some how generated far more attention.
No skin off my noes, either way.

I've watched the pilot and the follow up episode. I'm reserving comment until the show has a little more ground under it.
I will at this point say that I've noticed a lack of the "higher" tech present in Battlestar Galactica. The city and suburbs of Caprica City have a 21st Century feel about them. The skyscrapers in the city don't look much like the steel and glass wonders of the BG opening and rather look more like downtown Chicago or LA. I've also noted bare atmo in the different shots in and around Caprica City. By that I mean there aren't any ships flying around. In the sequence when Rosilyn learned of her cancer before the Cylons attacked you could see ships flying to-and-fro. In this new show the skies are rather bare. I know spaceflight is possible because the kids were going to hop on a transport to Geminon before their unfortunate demise in the pilot episode, but the lack of ships is not the feeling of Caprica that the orginal show engendered.
Perhaps what Ronald Moore will drive towards is a buildup of ships as a function with the coming cylon war. But who knows.

With respect to the lack of techiness on Caprica, I tend to agree. The wardrobe of many citizens strikes me more of 1920's - 30's era Chicago or New York. Of course, this is 50+ years before the fall, but again, they're supposedly centuries ahead of our current level of technology. ( But then again, not everywhere in the 'verse has to be the latest and greatest, as we well know )
And also, Galactica herself had " old style ", low tech hand sets for its in ship communication, which resembled more like what we'd expect to see on an WW2 US naval ship.
The look and feel of Caprica wasn't going to be what wins over viewers and ultimately tell the story. Again, much like other shows we know and love.

I'm still on the fence about it. I think they overused the substitution of Human Zoe for the Robot Zoe, as if they thought the viewers wouldn't be able to remember that Zoe's consciousness is in the robot. It was particularly distracting when Daniel, Lacy or the tech guys were making eye contact with the shorter Zoe when they should have been looking up to the taller robot.

My problem is, I kinda know what's gonna happen.
It's the Episode 1, 2 & 3 syndrome.

Well, we actually don't know much about specifics; we know that somehow Zoe manages to spawn an army of Cylons, and that Billy Adama survives, and that the eventual human/Cylon war is harsh enough that Colonial tech starts regressing (I weep for Serge's inevitable fate), but beyond that everything's up in the air (the Graystones, the larger Adama family, the Soldiers of the One, Zoe's friends --hell, even Zoe herself might not live to see the rise of the Cylons).
I'm not even completely sure when the Final Five first reached Caprica; was it before or after the First Cylon War?

I'm disappointed in Crapica.
Cylons are spoiled brats and their human parents are nutty professors.
Adamas are kosher mexican mafia.
No wonder BSG is frakked up! But the plot does make sense, in a neurotic sort of way.
BTW all christians, muslims and jews are terrorists in BSG. Writers plagerized the MIAC Report.

Bravest man ever ought to have a cunning hat to wear, ...

Still, a question....
If Zoe's avatar is in the Cylon proto type, why doesn't she just come out and TELL her folks she's there ? She goes strangely silent when she's around her folks or the 'bot techs, almost as if she CAN'T , but then she injures one of the techs.... that had to be Zoe... but violent ?
I'm intrigued, even if I don't know why.

Because she's scared. Her dad abducted her, called her a non-person (because she wasn't the "real" Zoe), and tried to delete her. And now her mom's convinced that (the real) Zoe was a terrorist. Everyone around her is calling her a monster. If she did reveal herself to anyone, she'd be either executed or put on trail, then executed.
And the sacrificial finger was an accident; Zoe-Cylon flinched and the decorative razor-sharp edges on her face did what razor sharp edges do.

Hey Rap, something we can agree on. So far I'm liking it and the treatment of the whole Cylon back story, and at the same time making some comments on present-day societal mores and prejudices. Very interesting indeed. I like it more than the few eps I saw of Battlestar.
Interesting 'flares' at the beginning of the pilot - the intro was very familiar visually (much like the opening to the BDM Serenity).
The pacing and storyline have kept my interest, although it hasn't made my sci-fi geek heart go pitty pat. But that soon may come. BTW Alessandra Torresani is easy on the eyes.
Having her in this well-written show is a definite plus. I'm catching up onm Hulu and will be watching the latest ep this afternoon. So far I give it 3 out of 5 Fruity Oaty Bars.

Just a note, this young woman could be the next River, she's a black belt in Taekwondo. She's actually a triple threat, she can sing and dance as well.

Apparently there's a Browncoat in the Graystone household. . .

That was shiny. I do believe you're right. There is a browncoat in the Graystone household and on the writing staff over at Caprica.
But, that last ep had me frakking losing it. How many times can they use 'frak' in one episode. My guess is that the writers had a bet going to see if they could get away with it. It became a bit distracting.
If they keep it up they might just lose me. And I was just beginning to like their style.
Hopefully they will rebound.

Curious new opening to the show tonight. It IS new, right ? I hadn't notice it before,.... maybe I just hadn't tuned in early enough ?
So.... does Mrs Graystone get done tonight, or not ?
I think I know already.
Bones: "Don't 'rawr' her!"
Booth: "What? she'rawred' me first.

You mean the dark one, with the Adama gravestone and such? It's been used for at least two eps. Nicely done.
I like the show. Some describe it as "Mad Men Meets BSG." And we may yet see a spaceship. We're already seeing Cylons.

I like the new opening, as I like the show. The writers need to keep it fresh though. I also like the look that they have created, sort of in between now and Firefly timeline.
Mad Men meets BSG is a good call, but where's Christina :-)
