I definitely do. I think that movie is responsible for my deep distrust of automation today. I only saw it once, but I still remember it very vividly - especially the feeling of impending doom.

Yes, more so than Terminator, because Terminator was so futuristic it was difficult to see all that technical advancement in one lifetime - mine. Colossus could have happened in a few years, with a few irresponsible tech heads with little sense of Murphy's Law.

That was a pretty good movie, but looking back it seems funny that we were afraid of 1970's computing technology. A modern cheap scientific calculator is probably more powerful than any super computer of that era.

It sounds like it deserves better transfer technology than they gave it to make up for the cheap price. I think it deserves better than this. It really is a classic, like Silent Running and Andromeda Strain. I wouldn't say it was like War Games, there wasn't any comic relief.

I really enjoyed the 1984 film Electric Dreams. Great sound track and Virginia Madsen . I could believe a PC might take over the World, just not a vacuum tube.

I saw it maybe once , when I was 7-8 ? Dunno for sure.

I just remember the voice of the computer, and went around for a while after, trying to mimic the sound.

Pretty standard sci fi for the era, as I recall. Might be worth a rental, if you're really into it. I can't recall hearing too much about it since it came out, so that might tell ya something.

* Silent Running and Andromeda Strain - good comparisons. Of course, at the age I saw it, I was far more into Godzilla type movies, so it seemed a bit dry for my likes. Might be a better story than I recall.

This movie had quite a futuristic look and feel to it back then. Once again scientists who mean well create a device that can destroy the world. This movie has a great supporting cast chock full of familiar faces from the 60's & 70's.

I had already read the book when the film came out, I also was intimidated by computers taking over. And guess what I do for a living,....computers!
(I think I wanted to make sure they didn't)

Wow. Someone else even knows about this movie!
I remember watching it on afternoon TV back in the mid 70's.
I paid some inflated price for the VHS tape on Ebay about 7 years ago. I watch it about once every 3 years.
Holds up OK. Always like the mood of the film.
