Get the phone number and address of that junkyard and then call the historic rescue squad from the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum! www.nasm.si.edu/ They will save this early flying machine for posterity. This is as horrifying as throwing the Wright Brother's Kitty Hawk flyer in the trash.

I know it's probably not needed and I'm all the way in NH but if it's rescued and needs a place to stay to be worked on and live then my driveway is available. I mean that in a serious way. I live in NH and don't have to worry about neighbors wondering why there's a broken down vehicle in my yard...and I have a house big enough for Browncoats to come and work on it and stay...and I already have shindigs once a month. Man, I wish I could afford to just go and get it!

Eternald, where exactly is this scrap yard?

If not post an address, then maybe take a Google Map snapshot.

It's how they found the Ariel Ambulance so it probably is the real deal.

I'm all for it getting to the East Coast. Can anyone give us the whereabouts of the junkyard, the price of the vehicle and the size so we can figure out the cost of getting it, renting a trailer, and finding someone to move it??? At least then we would have a goal to work towards.

I'm thinkin' this is a Hoax. The Mule is still part of the Universal Tour, last I heard, and this appears to be Photoshopped. Look at the tire in the left foreground of the photo. Seems disproportionally large, donchathink? Also, I have little faith in something posted by a one-time visitor. Should it prove to NOT be a hoax, I will do all I can to help. But for now... I say it ain't so.

If it was NOT a hoax, “EternalD” would have posted the name of the junkyard. Or at least the town where it's located. Or something from the pattern: “Who, What, When, Where, Why?”

If it IS a hoax, “EternalD” might eventually get around to posting an address for a real junkyard and sending Browncoats on a snipe hunt. I love junkyards -- I'd go if I lived in Southern California even if it was a wild-goose-chase because I might find some shiny hood ornament for my '88 Saab 900 turbo convertible.

Again, I think there were maybe three mules.

The one on the Universal tour was the one on the flatbed truck armature. They had at LEAST one more for the close in shots of the BDHs climbing in to get to the heist and for the shot of Zoe parking it.

There might have been another for the barn swallow scene.

Anyway, the one on the armature and the one taken on premiere tours are different ones.

Regardless, it doesn't belong in the trash!

Hi folks –

As soon as I saw this post over the weekend I reached out to our friends at Universal, letting them know we'd be more than happy to acquire (and restore) the Mule if they no longer wanted it. I'm very sure we could have found space in our warehouse.

But I've been told by The Powers That Be they are not getting rid of the Mule.

So, not sure what this is a picture of, but I've made it clear to Universal should they ever want to get rid of the Mule (any version), we should take it off their hands.

Just thought I should pass this latest along.

Hoax?

Or a prop that slipped through the system and was discarded?

We need more than one source to confirm or deny.

And, I would add, all those who were ready to send some cashy-money along to recover the BDM Mule,

might want to consider sending it to the fine folks of the Ariel Ambulance Rescue Group.

http://www.arielambulance.org/

The Ariel Ambulance is a major prop acquisition already in fan-hands.

They just need some money and fan labor to continue the restoration.

Mike

Agreed. No doubt there was more than one mule and even if there is still one on the Universal tour, this could be one that was unwanted or got tossed without the proper notice.

We need confirmation one way or the other. Hopefully Eternal will come back, if not we may need to reach out to Akin and the Ariel Ambulance people. Stands to reason if the Mule is in a scrap yard it may have wound up in the same one as the ambulance or one close by.

I'm 99% sure it wasn't p-shopped. The shadows match and pixel densities match + the angle would have had to have been almost on the floor and then flipped - an odd one.

Interesting thrusters? protruding from underneath - don't see those on the other photos.

Could it possibly have been someone trying to build a replica? And then running out of time, money, resources, having to move or simply giving up?

Or are you pointing out that The Signal is itself now on the junk pile ?

They said this season was it for them so when I came across the link accidently, I decided to throw it onto a discussion and see if something sticks. I guess it did.

none of this could happen without proper notice. It's not like it is 75 copies of THE FILM Serenity, getting destroyed, and they claim it was "an accident" that they sent it to be destroyed.
