Apologies in advance to anyone who subscribes to the cult of Oprah....she irks me. I understand she has been very generous and has helped a lot of people. I understand people find her inspiring because she has become successful despite having a crappy and difficult childhood. she has overcome diversity etc etc. I get it I really do...but she irks me. I know plenty of people who've overcome horrendous barriers, who have selflessly supported and inspired others both financially and spiritually only....THEY DON"T BLEAT ON AND ON ABOUT IT!!! God! she just seems to need so much adulation. it sickens me how she encourages people to worship her. My motto is if you are going to give, GIVE without a fanfare. Do it because it makes you feel good to help others feel good. You don't need anything more than that.

Dead on, girlfriend...
My problem with her is that she pretends to be a "woman of the people" but she stopped having a clue what the average person is about 30 years ago...

There are people who irk me more than her in the public eye. She's a bit too commercial for my taste, but I have nothing against her.

I disagree with most of her political and cultural views, but I respect and admire her achievements because she made her billions out in the open, in front of the world, and entertained and helped millions along the way.

Oprah was a pedophile prostitute, now paid $1-billion as a disinformation prostitute, whose job is to overthrow USA and genocide the human race. She especially enjoys massmurder of black people and hates all black men. As an insane lesbian (all homos are euginicists), she hates all men in general -- except for fucking racist John Tesh. She's a victim/member of MKULTRA sexslavery who has no idea who her daddy is (because her mommy refuses to tell her, and Oprah won't give her mommy her phone #). She sent a box of roses every week for 13 years to MKULTRA sexslave owner Bob Hope. She's just another house nigga for the Jew World Odor.

Oprah hosts Billionaire club in bid to curb overpopulation
America's richest people meet to discuss ways of tackling a 'disastrous' environmental, social and industrial threat
London Times
May 24, 2009
SOME of America’s leading billionaires have met secretly to consider how their wealth could be used to slow the growth of the world’s population and speed up improvements in health and education.
The philanthropists who attended a summit convened on the initiative of Bill Gates, the Microsoft co-founder, discussed joining forces to overcome political and religious obstacles to change.
Described as the Good Club by one insider it included David Rockefeller Jr, the patriarch of America’s wealthiest dynasty, Warren Buffett and George Soros, the financiers, Michael Bloomberg, the mayor of New York, and the media moguls Ted Turner and Oprah Winfrey.
These members, along with Gates, have given away more than £45 billion since 1996 to causes ranging from health programmes in developing countries to ghetto schools nearer to home.
They gathered at the home of Sir Paul Nurse, a British Nobel prize biochemist and president of the private Rockefeller University, in Manhattan on May 5. The informal afternoon session was so discreet that some of the billionaires’ aides were told they were at “security briefings”.
Stacy Palmer, editor of the Chronicle of Philanthropy, said the summit was unprecedented. “We only learnt about it afterwards, by accident. Normally these people are happy to talk good causes, but this is different – maybe because they don’t want to be seen as a global cabal,” he said.
Some details were emerging this weekend, however. The billionaires were each given 15 minutes to present their favourite cause. Over dinner they discussed how they might settle on an “umbrella cause” that could harness their interests.
The issues debated included reforming the supervision of overseas aid spending to setting up rural schools and water systems in developing countries. Taking their cue from Gates they agreed that overpopulation was a priority.
This could result in a challenge to some Third World politicians who believe contraception and female education weaken traditional values.
Gates, 53, who is giving away most of his fortune, argued that healthier families, freed from malaria and extreme poverty, would change their habits and have fewer children within half a generation.
At a conference in Long Beach, California, last February, he had made similar points. “Official projections say the world’s population will peak at 9.3 billion [up from 6.6 billion today] but with charitable initiatives, such as better reproductive healthcare, we think we can cap that at 8.3 billion,” Gates said then.
Patricia Stonesifer, former chief executive of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, which gives more than £2 billion a year to good causes, attended the Rockefeller summit. She said the billionaires met to “discuss how to increase giving” and they intended to “continue the dialogue” over the next few months.

I appreciate her mentioning the recent victims of the Queensland floods in Australia. I've had relatives who've lost close ones there. Someone I knew who lived in a fourth floor of a building got their apartment flooded out.

I choose to see the good in this person and not the bad. She's done more good than otherwise and those who criticize and deride her are only coming from the negativity in themselves. A lot of criticism and hatred can be found on the internet towards these people, and though they're not perfect I don't think they deserve that bullshit.

We acknowledge she's done good,(yay for her) we are also acknowledging that she's BLOODY OBNOXIOUS!!!
Has naught to do with US, just IS....Her doin' fine works do not make us blind to her personality traits.

Does seem just a tad petty to be hating on Oprah. I'm not a fan of her show (the few times I've tried to watch I've found her audiences to be most obnoxious, "cackle cackle cackle") but I do admire her. Her life seems like a great example of positive achievement.
Is there something on that I missed where she's promoting herself day and night that can't be turned off or changed like a channel?
I also don't mind hearing what charities celebrities promote - in her case especially with her fanbase - it tends to inspire others to do good works.

All people are brainwashed to worship media icons, including politicians. Thus Adolf Hitler and Mao were worshipped as gods, under punishment of death. Prince Charles had a manservant wipe his ass, according to Princess Diana...so he killed her.
If Kitty Kelly had investigated Oprah's business contracts as closely as her sex life, plenty of illegality would probably have surfaced.
Kelly makes this "mistake" in all her books, focusing on "petty" gossip while ignoring heinous crimes.
Apparently Kelly did look into Oprah's bogus "charity" congame.
"Charities" are nothing more than self-owned corporations designed to exempt billion$ from income taxes, with only 5% or less of the "charity's" income donated to actually help needy people, while employing the donor and her friends and family in a lavish lifestyle, tax-free. Goodwill Industries paid its CEO $30-million salary per year. United Way has large modern office buildings in all large towns and cities, with staff living in lakeside mansions. Warren Buffet paid his own "charitable" foundation $30-Billion per year to avoid paying income taxes, and to rob "his" stockholders and GEICO insurance suckers.
Masonic Shriners take donations for "childrens hospitals" and buy teen hookers in Brazil.

There is nothing to admire about Oprah, since her intelligence and wealth are counterbalanced by her insanity and greed.
Homosexuality = FAIL
13-year-old prostitute = FAIL
Abandon and kill her baby = FAIL
Drug addict = FAIL
Fatty addict = FAIL
Unable to walk = FAIL
Fake charities = FAIL
Trailer park trash topics = FAIL
Unwilling to speak to her parents = FAIL
Secret meetings to genocide the planet = FAIL
Selling an illegal alien as "president" = FAIL
Demanding her jet pilot sit on the runway while she sleeps 8 hours = NUTJOB
Oprah could've chosen to be a beautiful married woman with a great family of sober successful kids and grandkids, with or without a successful media empire discussing REAL topics. But she chose the dark side instead.
90% of Amerikans said they would gladly commit murder if paid $1-million. What crimes did Oprah do for $3-billion, besides kill her own baby? Presumably her audience of crack whores have no problem with that, since they now murder 52% of their children.

Sure she's done things worth admiring. and she should be commended for that it's just that she seeks so much attention for what she does and me personally I prefer a more humble approach...there's an insincerity about Oprah that annoys me. do you know who I admire? everyday people who've overcome adversity. All the people affected by the floods who've selflessly helped others. All of the people who were travelling and changed plans to help flood victims etc etc.

She's done a lot more with her life than all the people in this forum, so in that she's got my vote.

I think it's mighty presumptious and somewhat invalidating to say she's done a lot more with her life than the people here. People I've chatted to from this forum have achieved amazing things and are infinitely admirable. they may not have Sh_t loads of money or a successful TV empire, but they've overcome some hefty obstacles and have amazing stories (you know who you are guys).

Sure it presumptuous to say that, but those people didn't make 50 billion dollars. In my opinion that puts Oprah up there as having done something worth while with her life, and sure there are some people here, on this forum who have done some amazing things on a small scale, but didn't have much of an impact on a large scale, and in the reality of life they are nothing but a blip on the radar.

Last night Babs Walters interview Oprah, who denied she's a lesbo...until asked about a certain photo with Gayle making out in a back seat of a car.

Brokeback Buddies: 'I am not lesbian and I hate children,' Oprah breaks down as she talks about her love for best friend Gayle King

Oprah also bragged how she hated her baby so she killed it. She also brags how her "uncle" (father?) raped her for many years starting at age 9, which turned her into a hooker by age 13.
Oprah's value to the Jew World Odor is brainwashing blacks to murder 52% of blacks in USA, by making abortion look like winning the $3-billion lottery. This is the #1 "accomplishment" of Oprah.

What's Oprah's opinion on banning guns?

I love the different perspectives that arise in these threads. It's interesting to me that you believe making lots of money is more "large scale" than actions and behaviour. As I don't feel the same way. I guess it's all about how we personally measure impact. Sure in terms of how many people have been touched by Oprah's monitary generosity that's large scale. Also many people have been inspired by Oprah, her guests and subjects tackled in her widely broadcast shows so that's certainly large scale. Others have not had the resources to spread their good in a similar way but that does not mean they have not had a similar large scale impact on the people they encounter (and the people they spread the good to as a result). For example I regard the open minded unconditional acceptance I have received by people on this forum over the years as pretty large scale. I am not so easily accepted in daily life in my own environment due to issues discussed in other threads but have to date not experienced ANY rejection from anyone here (including the trolls) and that's a HUGE scale impact to me and I know that feeling of belonging contributed significantly to me regrowing self confidence and self worth at a time when my stocks were dangerously low. I don't know you so I can't make assumptions about your life experience or your perspectives. Maybe you have not been as fortunate as me to be around non famous non rich people who've made huge lifelong impacts on me and others because of their example, actions or guidance. And all of them have done it without expecting any praise or acknowledgement, or without any aggenda. they've given and inspired because they are exceptional people and that to me is waaaaaay larger scale than money, popularity and publicity. I guess I'm admitting to being a kind of snob: I'm more inclined to respect people for doing the amazing things they do and remaining humble about it. I really admire those who aren't even aware of the positive impact they have on other people. I'm blessed to know many such people.
